- Suspended Western Cape Judge President John Hlophe may be the first high court judge to be impeached. 305 Members of Parliament have voted for his removal, while 27 were against. Previously, Hlophe's last-minute bid to stop MPs from voting on his impeachment failed after the Western Cape High Court struck his urgent application for the roll. The National Assembly vote comes after the Portfolio Committee's recommendation to remove Hlophe following findings of gross misconduct by the Judicial Service Commission.

Very good summary of how she comes across, however justice is not a popularity contest. There are many, many politicians and state-employed people who are full of smiles and jokes and want to be on social media all the time and make friends everywhere. What difference have they made to the lives of the South African populace? Everything is going downhill because charisma and friendliness and jokes don't get the job done. I disagree with you w.r.t Hlope. A judge is meant to be unbiased, weigh arguments based on evidence and make decision. The very fact that Hlope tried to interfere, meant he put his political agenda ideology above his work ethics and career. He Should be out!
