My name is Jay Swanson - I'm an American writer living in Paris on an artist visa and hoping to make the city of light my home base - at least for the foreseeable future. I write science-fiction and fantasy, vlogged daily for 3+ years, and love pizza a little too much.

FAQ:
How long have you lived in France? Over five years now, holy cow.
What do you miss most about ho- NACHOS
You're always talking about living on some ship. WHAT SHIP? - I made a "Draw My Life" video that explains a lot here: • Draw My Life
Where are you from originally? - Pullman, Washington - a small university/agricultural town near Idaho (and yes, the potatoes are amazing).
What do you film with? - I've made a lot of changes recently, but I try to keep my gear list up to date if you want to see what I use and buy some for yourself: bit.ly/JaysGearList
What do you edit with? - Adobe Premiere - it's pretty much all I've ever used since high school.
Aren't you ever freaked out by leaving your camera behind to film yourself? - Yep. But not too badly - I tend to be careful when I do.
Why are you living in #Paris? - Because I've always wanted to; I feel at home here: • Why I Want to Live in ...
Do you speak French? - Oui. • Un Jour en Francais (E...
Do you make money off RUclips? - Ha, sorta. I wish. It took me over 500 videos to make my first total $100 off adsense. I think it will slowly change, but VERY slowly.
I really enjoy your videos, how can I support you? - The easiest and best way to support me is through Patreon, where you can pitch in as little as $5/mo to help me make better videos: / jayswanson
I don't trust this Patreon thing - can I just paypal you? - Here's my ko-fi if that's your thing (and coffee is your game): ko-fi.com/jayswanson
But I want to send you something tangible! - I do have a wishlist on Amazon, though it's a bit complicated with the international shipping situation. So instead people often drop off or ship things to the Peloton Cafe in Paris for me.
Thanks for watching!
All those seeds planted (knowingly or unknowingly) when you first arrived 5 years ago, are now blooming beautifully ;-)
Aw, thank you =) It's true, there's such a bright future for me here. I can't imagine where I'll be in another five years.
Visited Galeries Lafayette this summer and discovered that if you keep going up, the top floor has a stairway that takes you to the roof with an awesome close up view of l'Opéra de Paris and the rest of Paris. What a fun discovery! And it's free!
Getting a massage and a pedi is my goto in every city I visit!
I like your style
Commenting to feed the algorithm. Thank you for the quality guides
Janelle (MyParisPortaits) is a gem and a wonderful photographer (as are her compatriots)! 10/10 would recommend. Paul Taylor is quite the character and definitely worth your time! I highly recommend both if you have the opportunity!
Top folks of all kinds!
Yay....thanks Jay for the photoshoot suggestion, I just booked MyParisPortraits for my trip with my kids to Paris in April! I am so excited. Thanks 🙂
Sounds great! They're the best 📸 Hope you have a blast!
This thumbs-up is for Cooper's chill vibes there at the end of the vid! 🥰 Great video, as always
He's got the chill thumbs in all spaces haha
LOVE these series! Btw what an unique way to give shout out to ur patron producer LOL
Since you’re a Pullman lad, you might appreciate our wine/beer offerings at WSU. Back in the 60’s attendees at goofy grape parties would bring either beer or wine and mix everything in a “new” garbage can. Ahead of our time.
Great video, superb quality! Cooper can’t be more adorable ❤
Thank you!! 😊
Jay please do not be boring
Adore Chillhouse (apparently now called Maison Chill), so good.
The French Police can’t handle relatively upbeat people with uncomplicated family dynamics haha
4 videos in one week? Such fun 👏🏽
P.S. Of course I’m taking notes.
So happy I'm up to the challenge again =D
Good stuff - I wasn't expecting these many videos from you in such a short period of time. Wot a pleasant surprise!
My absolute pleasure to send them your way!
Making notes, saving video for next trip. Thx Jay for the fun tips!
My pleasure! Should have some handy tools for your planning in the future, working hard on them!
some super cool and unique recommendations Jay, great video as always :)
Thanks Chloe!
Thanks for sharing Paris Jay. Love your videos.
My pleasure!
Thank you Jay!! Awesome video; great info! 😊
You're most welcome!
Big improvements in French beer. When I was there in 1975 (many times since) French beer was more akin to "la pisse du cheval"
That VR tour of Notre Dame sounds incredible! I’ll definitely try and do that whenever I’m next in the city - hopefully sometime soon. A brewery tour always gets my vote. Gotta try the Viere! Great video with superb suggestions! Cheers Jay! 👍
That viere is sooooo good. And the VR experience was surprisingly fun - I had a smile on my face the entire time.
Another vid i think i might have missed taa very much Jay
Happy you found it!
Great stuff!
Thanks!
Great video xx
Thank you!!
This was so much fun 👏🏽
Thank you!
Massage?! Yup, I'm in! AND Emma can shop upstairs? that sounds like a win for both of us! haha 🤣🤣🤣🤣
I'm here to provide all the help I can manage haha
I love the concept of Photo Walks. Learning, Photography and Beautiful Subjects with free lighting? Hell to the yes!
P.S. I think ‘Today At Apple’ does Photo Walks too.
Nice vlog, I've never heard of vière, intriguing 😄
It's so good
@@JaySwanson Thanks for the discovery 🍻
Why am I not surprised that Cooper loves the Sidecar? 😂
He got in it like three days into living with me haha
La Defense is a great place to practice skating on stairs! That's were I learned to do it =)
Not a bad spot at all haha
Love your videos I'm going to paris next week do you have the info for the motorcycle tour also do you do tours of the palace Versailles
Links in the description!🥂 As for Versailles, I don't do tours, no
Jay and Paul in a VR Experience? That’s an underrated buddy comedy. #YouGetYourOwnBritishComedian
We'll get our buddy comedy off the ground someday
@@JaySwanson I’d love to collaborate as a writer lol
Are there more brewery in France than in Belgium? Now that's interesting!! I don't exclude the possibility of intent there! Hahahahaha! Which one is better in your opinion, Jay?
Belgian beers are what helped get me into beer, but at the risk of ending up on a list somewhere, I have moved on ;D (They still hold my heart for fries and chocolate however)
@@JaySwansonthat sounds delicious! I'll now have to try them all!
I have not be is learn english or frenc or speak current. I can be doing still ongoing the video watch is problem?
I’m confused: Does one drink Vière with Poached Fish or Fish and Chips? (Just kidding people want to get plastered either way)
Ofcourse France has more breweries than Belgium. They are about 20 times bigger. You would want to use the old quality over quantity in function of the amount of breweries per capita formula😅
Here I thought drones (the consumer ones, before anyone gets any wrong ideas) made life easier and it turns out that drones are just like us lmao
Every country has the biggest amount of breweries if you think about it lol
🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
🍻🥳🍻
Excuse me: I disagree but shopping is relaxing. Spas are chill too. Both can be true at the same time.
Some like to shop, and some sleep in dressing room lobbies
@@JaySwanson If only that was allowed lol
Missed opportunity to say “Get out of here! Scram!”.
(You have to be consistent with your Americanisms)
