I cant even imagine how many hours i spent playing this back in fifth grade. It was such a big deal to me. I had no idea there were other zelda games already and all I knew at that point was Ocarina of Time. So to me this was "Zelda 2" . Such a different and unique experience. Fun, adventurous, yet creepy and somewhat disturbing at times.
Exact same story here! I wasn't even into games really before Ocarina of Time and Majora's Mask sparked my interest in story driven games, weird stuff and later psychology and symbolism. It's crazy how much this game influenced who I am now. I'm still working through the experience by building lots of it's items in real life 😅 Recently a working pictograph box 😬
1:35 Yeah, apparently the title was ura Zelda = 'Obscure Zelda' Damn! This was a great, great breakdown. Although I have at least 3 more notions to add to, and about, this game I think I shall save them for later... when the time is right. ... What can I say... great voids think alike ;)
I remember first booting up the game on my 3ds (yes I know it’s not the best version) and instantly falling in love with it. Now, more than 5 years later. I finally beat the game. It was an adventure of a lifetime
i started playing majora's mask 2 days ago and finished the first dungeon on my first try. I am loving it and if it weren't for ocarina of time, it would quickly become my favorite game of all time
Ive always been fascinated by how they added Mystical Masks, Shape Shifting, Time Manipulation and more into a fun Zelda game. Just the use of Masks in human culture history is pretty fascinating in general. Plus how they added the theme of a three day moon that dies, which is drawn from ancient astro mythology.
Looking back, this was such an exceptional game. And what a time for it to come out in the year 2000 when 2000 was a year we thought the world would end with Y2K and all.
Idk if is becuse this is my first Zelda Game but i liked a lot more that ocarina, the reason?, as a child i came over a friend house and saw that game and adult link, i liked, then i got this game, and for a long time,i was like hey when im becoming an adult, even if i didnt know any english, i could feel the emotions of the characters, and then a year passed and i finish the game with all the masks and link became an adult as the FDMask, couldnt asked for more.
Things can get even more messed up if you think about how time travel (generally) works. Only Link goes back in time, leaving the people of Termina to their calamitous demise... Anyhow, great video, *noice* editing. Subbed.
Beautiful and brilliantly done video! I adore Majora's Mask and it is absolutely my favorite Zelda game and perhaps Nintendo game! You've done a wonderful job analyzing it!
Tough to decide between this and TP for me. Love botw and totk is amazing but I consider them a different breed of game. And then Link Between Worlds is a stellar 2D game. So hard to pick a favorite lol. But thanks for watching!
@@Jon-yn4pqi know you didn't ask me but I want to give you guys my top 3: 1. Ocarina of Time 2. Twilight Princess 3. Majora's Mask Can't live without these games 💛
Excellent video all around, but I feel the title was a bit confusing. I expected you to discuss how Majora's mask relates to the modern art movement or use artistic concepts to analyze Majora's mask. This to me was more of a videogame analysis and retrospective, so I think those words should be in the title to improve SEO. Something like this: "Majora's mask retrospective: an artistic masterpiece"
Thanks for the feedback, I can see where that would be confusing. I’ll try to change the title to something more fitting. Thanks for watching though I appreciate it!
Great video! Hope you continue to produce! I love Majora’s mask! It will always have a place in my weird angsty never ending adult/teenage heart. Even if it is scary 😅
Even after the likes of BotW & TotK being so popular these days, I still say Majora's Mask is my favorite Zelda game and an huge improvement over Ocarina of Time in my opinion. I never get sick & tired of playing it because of the amazing worlds, atmosphere, characters, the structure, time limit credibility, the dungeons, fast pace, etc. Even for an late N64 game, it holds up remarkably well. I replay it so many time to get better at it and it never fails. I adore this game so much.
It absolutely boggles my mind how this game was made only a year after OoT and ended up being so unique and different, meanwhile ToTK was made 6 years after BoTW and ended up being more of the same
@@VoidReviews that would be neat. I'm enjoying the game as well, but I can't ignore the fact that its basically BoTW+. Same map with some changes and additions, and the EXACT same structure, down to the side content and some item locations. To me its fun, but kinda feels uninspired. The new building mechanics are cool, but for me they can't carry the weight of them reusing everything else. Really hope they don't make the game a third time
i played twilight princess as my first zelda and it is a unforgettable magical experience, but then i played majoras mask a few years later and i dont know if it was better or worse than TP but i had a really good experience with the atmosphere of both games(did not knew at the time they are sequel-prequels), and i think it is what makes them special. And then some years later i played ocarina but it was more bright and happy, more balanced but i did not enjoy it as much as i did with tp and mm, and i came to a conclusion, no zeldas are better than others, they are just different, yes you can argue skyward sword is a burnout, toon link is goofy or even say 2D zeldas are bad, but almost any zelda will be the favorite for someone out there, because twilight princess is special for me and even if ocarina is better, i would choose twilight princess over it always, i bet there is someone out there who likes link's crossbow training more than breath of the wild.
I love the Stone Tower Temple even if it did give me nightmares as a child of falling into the sky I could never go on the monkey bars again... fear of being trapped on them 😂 I was lik 8 tho sooo 😂
of the few flaws of _Majora’s Mask_ is that too many of the basic masks are really only useful once, usually to get a Piece of Heart, or another mask. this is forgivable in the case of the Anju and Kafei quest, or when the mask has a basic utility like the Bunny Hood, but like the Kamaro Mask, or the Giant Mask? meh. and by far the biggest flaw, and really the only big flaw, is that it lacks a proper final dungeon… the Moon has four micro dungeons, but they’re only necessary to acquire the Fierce Diety Mask. a final dungeon based upon a time mechanic would’ve been incredible… maybe the dungeon is like a spooky version of Clock Town itself, and to beat the dungeon you need knowledge of the townsfolk and their various stories and schedules?
Zelda games from the past: Made with Heart Zelda games now: Open world nothing else madders since everyone playing it anyway and loving it because its Open world and not because its Zelda. Everything that made out a Zelda game wasn´t in the last 2 (Just the 3 Main Characters). They could even remove Link/Zelda and put in Bonny and Sarah or something like that and everyone would love it.

Ever since I first played Majora's Mask it almost immediately became, and remains, my favorite game of all time
Thanks for your sacrifice, good lookin out homie
For real. And to this day I have still not beaten it
Check out outer wilds, will match this easily,
It's the only game that has this feel
Likewise
Check Pathologic 2, I'd argue it's even better than Majora's Mask.
Majoras Mask is not only my favorite Zelda game, but also my favorite game

I wouldn't say there big flaws. That's just personal taste. I don't exactly agree with what u said. But that's anyone's opinion.
The point that they created 3 different jump flips just only for the introduction of the game is kinda between amazing and disappointing 😂
