Acrimonious Mirth Its worth it and you don't really need any experience im in high school and i got a kit for xmas and built it with no experience in 3d printing before and they are already pretty cheap

I love how this droid is developing throughout the weeks. Very excited to see a BB-6 droid in development as well. When will you start production of the lightsaber that you teased awhile back. The prototype design was genius and I can't wait to see a finished version.

Wow, I'm impressed by the quality of 3D Printing. Complete absence of support material, that's just incredible!
Are you planing to put something in the radar eye? Some GoPro camera maybe? :-D
    Keep up! I love it

The slip ring is cool, but why not use it for power and communication between torso and head logic? Perhaps via serial, I2C or another protocol.
I really think you should map out the power scheme first, then the data scheme and then put all the logic where it needs to go to drive all motors and lights, as well have properly distributed power rails.

it looks great. you should add a computer terminal turning stick thing that r2 uses to open doors that folds out of his body. i dont know what its called.

it would be cool if you could fit a gopro into the radar eye :D you could have a spying device :P

If you reduce the step size of the random number generator and do a tiny bit of mathematics, you can get much clerer colors. for example, generate a number between 1 and 5, then multiply it by ten. now you have more differentiatet colors. you could go a step fourther and define a 8 bit color output (I don't know if it's possible (you could emulate it tho...)), then the colors would be more... individual. not a white mess...

Looks great, some amazing progress, I just hope the batteries dont go flat too quickly once youve finished all the electronics. Will the electrics section with the Arduino have some protection from little kids poking their fingers in? such as a clear plastic cover or something.

It seems I keep having ideas about the 3D printing itself (even though I don't own a 3D printer) - The item at 5:56 worked out okay with 'a bit of mess on the inside'. Might it have worked even better if you'd printed it upright with the wedge pointing upwards?

I would LOVE to buy a lulzbot mini but I haven't learnt cad software yet. I'm good at drawing and experienced with illustrator etc but I've yet to make the leap to cad. Until I'm confident I can design what I imagine in CAD I won't get a printer yet.

How many rotations of the head before the wires through the "neck" wind up and need "unwinding"?

    • @beakz

***** Disregard, disregard! My fault for skipping through. I thought you'd 3D printed your own bearing block, didn't realise it was a bought slip ring. Where did you buy it from for reference?
