As a Wisconsin citizen I would consider it reasonable to have a sign posted in election sights saying that intimidating the on-sight volunteers both verbally or physically is prohibited. It’s not unreasonable to expect that citizens quietly and courteously submit their votes. If the voter is concerned with the nature of the voting process then enter a complaint with the police or city hall. In the same respect the election workers should not hesitate to call the police for disorderly conduct and any violation should be severely prosecuted.

Elections are under local/state jurisdiction. The FBI PER ITS NAME IS FEDERAL. So is the DOJ under which the FBI falls. It can get involved in severe or politically motivated cases, but how many agents do you think it has? There is reliance on DA, local law enforcement to bring charges. Look up what the FBI is responsible for. this is not all inclusive: gangs, drug trafficking, federal law and buildings, etc. This is the perfect time for a task force. Private attorneys are litigating and winning cases nationwide voter suppression efforts (see Democracy Docket)
When I lived in California, I had the opposite experience once. I actually had a poll worker heckling me about who I was voting for. It was strange and somewhat humiliating. This was many years ago. I had asked her for help because I couldn’t find my candidate on the list. I thought she would be professional, but she was not. I live in Wisconsin now and I wouldn’t dream of threatening anybody. It’s ridiculous.
I am sorry that happened to you. But if you look at various situations, you will see in many areas (especially in this political climate) people who are supposed to be doing their jobs without taking sides are strongly on a side. And they use their job capacity to further their side. That is a shame but I hope you were able to find your candidate back then in CA and vote as you wanted despite her poor behavior.
