Not a replacement for the R6 like many like to think and then complain about. It's a budget fairly committed sportsbike for the track and canyon carving. A rider that knows how to extract and use that 70 plus hp will be happy. Those who don't, will want more.

My joke was based on the fact that there's Jap 4 cyl 600's that make a genuine 50hp more... These V- Twins make bugger all power compared to the inline 4 cyl equivalents that are in bikes that weigh about the same

I cant get the hate this bike gets. I have a CB1000R and R7. I prefer the R7. Its not rocketship fast but it is fast and above all: very maneuverable, so its tons of fun.
its not a spuersport. Thats a racing category where Zx6R, CBR600RR, R6 and other like those race. The CB650R isnt a supoersports also, its a sportbike, like this one. This will probably confuse you but there are actualy bikes with one cylinder, two, three, four and even six (not now, but there was a comercial 6 cyliner by honda) you just pick your desired configuration and enjoy... I dont get the hate towards this bike.

Parallel twin engine really doesn’t suit the sport bike look in my opinion. This is the most confusing bike on the market and I hate it. If you need A2 then just get an R3. If you don’t then just get an R6.
aprilia rs660 is ptwin but that bike is on another level... much nicer than the r7, makes +40hp, sound much better and has tonns more electronic stuff like cruise control, quickshifter up&down etc...

Ride an R7 and an R6 and you might understand why. R6 is a superior sport bike in every way. The R7 is a superior street bike and that’s where my problem lies. Sport bikes are inherently shit on the street, no matter how many people say “I find sport bikes comfortable” they are kidding themselves, they are torture racks riding around town or generally at legal speeds. The MT07 is the bike to get if that 700cc ptwin engine is what you want, it’s infinitely better than the R7 for street riding, far more comfortable to ride. I guess people tend to get sport bikes to fluff up their ego because they think they look cool on them. My vote, just get an MT09 😂 best bike

It’s not a real super-sport, it’s more of a sportbike similar to the Ninja 650 or the CBR650R. It’s basically a beginner bike for fat guys where the R3 would feel sluggish due to the low torque. 🤷♂️

Why do you think so many people use an r6 as their track bike and they didn't switch to the r7 when it came out?

I rode my friends R7. It’s a fun bike to ride. Doesn’t have much straight line power but it carves in the turns. Very nimble compared to my r6

It's a parallel twin, it doesn't have a cross plane crank when there's only 2 cylinders.
It's a 270° Degree crank, but Yamaha called it CP2
