I picked up this pot for free on the side of the road a few years ago . It had an almost completely dried out plant in it. It turned out to be a bamboo. Recently I got a big branch that rooted from the bottom to the soil. I showed to another plant guy and he told me it was a BB. I am glad it's not one of the giant ones. Saw your video when I searched so I connected take care 🙂

I love these bamboo videos! You’ll have to give us updates over time. I’m curious how your asper and oldhamii will look in the future

What an unusual species of bamboo! Never saw this before. I hope Arizona is getting some much needed moisture from Hurricane Hilary, off the California coast!

I have a Buddha Belly and it is huge with very defined large bellies. It lives in a corner behind sheds and trees from neighbouring properties - so not full sun. I have never, never water it since planting. I live in the dry tropics of Australia, we can get heavy rains though. It is an attractive plant but unruly now because it isn't pruned often. It was given to me but maybe I didn't really want it being wary of bamboo. I basically ignore except to occasionally prune it. It's leaves or trunks have really irritating hairs - do all bamboos? Wish i could give it someone who would care about it as I'm thinking of removing it. It is messy

This is an excellent video on Buddha Belly Bamboo. I was sure this was the Bamboo plant for me but seeing how much they lose their leaves - not a good choice near a pool. Looking for a good privacy plant that is not a mess for pool areas.

Nice stand of bamboo! Isn't this Bambusa vulgaris 'Wamin'? Ventricosa is the standard or giant form.

youre correct, it's the vulgaris. Growing tips are the same regardless of type though

Can I transplant? I know where there’s some in the wild in southwest Florida, and I want to move it. Take a piece.
