With the new Elantra not expected until the 2016 model year, the 2014 model soldiers on for another year. While the Elantra GT doesn't have the same following as the VW GTI or Mazda3, Hyudai's compact hatchback delivers impressive value, solid handling, more power than many of this segment's options and you can still combine everything with a 6-speed manual. If you're looking for the best budget hatch, the Elantra GT should be on your short list.

Hey Alex that review was awesome. Great Great Job! I am a 2014 Hyundai Elantra GT owner with the Manual 6spd transmission. I love it.
really impressed with your reviews... by far the most in depth and detailed of any I have seen.
now THIS is the way to do reviews. WAY WAY better than even the "professionals.
Incredible!
Aloha Alex, another great review, I like returning to the single video reviews.
Me too, I gave it a try because RUclips and the consultant pushed me but I just didn't feel the love for it.
Another infomative review. Thanks Alex.
Very nice presentation, Alex. I really like the style and the value that Hyundai packs into the GT.
I've always liked the look of the Elantra GT, but I'd go for the Mazda3, Golf, or 2015 Focus.
An excellent review!

awesome review. I can't believe I just discovered this channel...please review the Hyundai Veloster Turbo!
Great review!
Great review, thanks. Have you done a similar review of the Kia Forte and the Focus Hatchback? I can't seem to find them in any of your other videos. thanks.
Martin Kidd The Forte no, but I have a review on the Focus ST hatch which is a little old.
In my 2011 hatch opening is flat with the floor. In this 2014 it is not. That's a major hindrance when loading and unloading heavier items in the 2014 model.
great review as always Alex! Will you do a review on the 2015 Honda CR-V? I'll buy a CUV next year, and the 2015 Rogue, 2015 CR-V and maybe 2016 CX-5 are on my list. I'm looking forward to your review on those CUVs.
I should have on by the end of the year.
Also a review on the new 2015 hyundai azera!!
When u really think about it the Elantra GT is the only one in the segment with a panoramic sunroof which is crazy because this car is a hatchback!
Funny... My 2013 elantra sedan does not require the special cable for iPod connectivity. I can use just a standard lighting cable.
Hey Alex, great reviews! I am shopping for a compact hatchback and you have given excellent informative reviews on most of them. I was wondering if you would be reviewing the 2015 Subaru Impreza hatchback as well. I live in Michigan and so I am also considering the Impreza. I would appreciate any light you can shed on it. Thanks!
Kannan Dasharathi I'll see what I can do.
What about a review of the new 2015 Honda CR-V?
Great review.
As owner of a GT, I don't have many complaints on this car BUT: Why don't they take the Steering Effort button OFF the steering wheel & put the ECO button there instead? The ECO is poorly positioned for use while driving & combined w/3switches in same loc.. Ughh!
I like the forte 5 better with the 1.6 turbo! I love your videos Alex! Keep doing what you are doing!
the 2016 elantra spy shots grille looks similar to that sonata, i think that's what they're going for
I have a regular 4 door elantra and the torsion beam suspension (which the GT also has) is unforgivable. Utterly terrible.
While this car is 26K, a VW GTI is less than 27K WITH the DSG. Granted, it won't come with a sunroof and nav for that price, but it's not stripped down either -- has heated seats still. Not to mention loads more horsepower. For 1K more, I'd go with the GTI for sure.
***** Yes, the ride is comfy. However, I would strongly advise against the Elantra. It is highly unlikely you will notice the quirkiness of the suspension on a test drive. But you certainly will notice it shortly after owning it.
The problem is that road anomalies on one side of the car kick the rear suspension out. Every current generation elantra will do this. It very disconcerting and extremely annoying when this happens. I believe this is also what makes the car very susceptible to cross winds on the freeway too.
You can improve the situation with better shocks, but you can never fix it. This is how they designed it, and it's a very poor and cheap design. Previous generation elantras did not have this issue since they had independent rear suspensions.
***** Don't take my word for it, just go on the forums. Lots of people notice.
Thats amazing
22k on my 2013 GT, w/the smaller engine. No issues, and the car has sorta come into its own w/my driving. Love all the options, and mpg has been better than expected...27 around town in heavy traffic, 38-40 straight highway. Love the interior comfort and spaciousness. Do not understand the Mazda 3 obsession - the interior is way too dark, and the "Ipad on the dash" design is just lazy. Plus the 3 is significantly longer...something to think about if you have this car in an urban environment (which I do). Looking forward to the '16.
Excellent points.
Alex will you review the 2017 Elantra sedan?
Can you do a review on the 2015 elantra sport or limited.. please
Alex, can you test the Forte 5?
Alex, why can't we use the apple usb or android usb to plug into the usb port?
Hi Alex, thanks for amazing reviews! I found almost all compact sedans I was interested in your reviews, except for Mitsubishi lancer, what do you think about it? Are you planning to review them in future (base models
alliart)?
I have not heard much from Mitubishi lately, they are really cutting their budget in the USA so I think it is unlikely that they will have one to lend.
Hi Montgomery, I used to sell Mitsubishis, here's my take. The Lancers feels loud but sporty. ES buy it if you can get it cheap enough $15k. SE AWC, all wheel drive is useful but with it's softer ES' suspension it's kinda boring. GT nicest of Lancers but not a great value, and not as fast as it looks. Ralliart, dead but sporty, only came with the DCT. I think the Lancers are a value when discounted to sub-compact car Fiesta/Fit/Versa prices but aren't as nice as current compact competitors Civic/Focus/Mazda3. I think the Mitsubishi Outlander Sport ES Manual for $19k is the best choice among Mitsubishis. What do you think?
Can you please review the 2014 Sonic LT hatchback with the turbo? It's a lot of car for just $16k after rebates.
I'll see what I can do.
I would still take a focus over this or any import
Does anyone know if you can pick and choose options with Hyundai? I've never bought a brand new car before so I was wondering if you could special order a car with only certain options from each package. Because I'd want the tech pack but wouldn't want the sunroof.
No, Hyundai doesn't allow packages to be split up in that manner, The bundling of options is how Hyundai keeps prices low so they can keep stocks low as well.
Hello everyone, i just bought this car and i cant open trunk door from my keys. I go to the hyundai dealership to repair the car or key anyway they said that key shouldn`t open the trunk door. You should open trunk door manually from the button installed on bottom of the door. Question is why they make trunk door open button on keys if it`s shouldn`t open it?
That button if for sedans only, not for hatchbacks like this baby.
@@candy98 Nope sir. I already figured out. The button on key unlocks the trunk door if you are away from your car with your samrt key. But it doesn`t pushes out the door itself it just unlocks the door that`s all )))
@@rufatshahbazov1326 Hi. I was wondering about this too. Now I know. Thanks.
@@jafp1617 You`re welcome sir
Gosh, Hyundai really wants to be Volkswagen, right down to the flip out rear view camera in the logo...why you'd buy this over the Golf is beyond me, especially given the resale. Europeans seem to agree, if the paltry sales for this and it's Kia brother are any indicator
+n777ua Have you seen the VW's reliability ratings. Ever had to have a VW repaired. Korea builds em better than Mexico.
Volkswagen?
If you can deal with the rear seat legroom of the Mazda 3 pass on the Elantra. The MPG numbers for pretty much any Hyundai / Kia product is laughable. Why I don't know.
2015 Fit or Elantra GT which is better?
.... GT all day. Completely different cars.
Broxty Both 5 doors, similar 0-60 times, GT costs more.
Blurry video for anyone else? Alex's face, the car, and the environment were out of focus for the entirety of the video. I know you have a decent DSLR, with what I assume is a pro-grade lens, so I'm not sure why the video quality appears low to me.
My friends keep bullying me saying this is a girl car
I think it's an awesome car
Same but I love it🤘🏽😂
They only have jealous from the best choice por the price. And, probably one of the most reliable brands of the market. It's a really good option.
