- FLY LINKS BELOW! Thank you for taking time to watch my videos! These bobbins were cheap and I was disappointed. However I think they're good for tying wire or lead but I'm sticking with name brands from now on. "I linked a few below for you to check out".
Also I'm not trying to bash this brand, as I know from personal experience, sometimes there is manufacturing defects. I've had others tell me they like these bobbins, or I should coat them with uv cement, so maybe I'll try another set with an updated review.
I love reading your comments and hope to connect with each of you as a Friend.
Thanks again for watching!
Sincerely,
Steve

I have used a Rite bobbin almost 40 years and have no problems.
This was a generic Amazon buy, I plan on buying a Rite Bobbin hopefully soon. I was just trying to save a few bucks so now I use it for my wire.
Thanks for the suggestion, I appreciate it Gilbert👍
Talk soon,
Steve @blackflycreations ✌️
Sometimes you get what you pay for . Thanks for putting this out there
And thank you for watching Truly appreciate you David! I don't like to down anyone's Product but this has several fake reviews. Maybe with more quality contol!?
Take care,
Steve @blackflycreations
I love the puppies!
I love them too, accept they sometimes eat my Feathers! Haha
For what it's worth, I bought all 5 of the Rite Bobbin models directly from him and two of the 5 had issues with either the ceramic or metal cutting thread. His response was to use them for wire. I'm going to stick to the OG Tiemco ceramic bobbins made in Japan.
Thanks for the info. Just so you know, these weren't the "rite" bobbin brand but a cheapo set off amazon. I've since purchased a real "rite" and it's been fine. However I think you're correct in purchasing the tiemco, especially the old school ones like you said. Hard to beat made in Japan or even France. Also I've had good luck with my Loon Bobbin but I like how the ceramic sounds spinning flies, something about that thread squeak that makes me happy! Haha..
Thanks for watching BVD! Appreciate you.
Steve @blackflycreations ✌️
I also have 2 mini dachshunds. Great pups!
There good little weenies! Until they chew my feather and fur packs! Haha
Thank you for watching!
Steve
I use these 18/0 never break the thread. I only use nano silk though. I can say I have to use 2 plastic washers on both sides. But before you go after him. I use silk thread. And these cheap one's feel better in my hand
Hey Jeff! I still think the bobbins are ok but, I use a lot of UTC 70 denier and this was a first for me. Nano silk would probably be fine, that stuff is amazingly tuff. I just kept them for my tying wire. Maybe I got a bad batch too, who knows...Thank you so much for the input and for watching!

Take some UV resin and apply it to the inside edge of the tube. The likely didn’t apply the gloss sealer to the interior to the tube. I don’t know what you are doing heating the ceramic tube, you could cause it to crack under the heat.
That's a great idea, I'll give it a try! I've just been using them for my wires. I heated it to test if it was plastic advertised as ceramic, but you're right.
They were only 12$ for 2 so I should've known better.
I'm actually working on manufacturing a ceramic bobbin set. It will come in a 2 size pack, but they won't be available in my store until after Christmas. Anyways thank you for the tip and for watching.
Have a great week!
Steve
I've had some - not these specifically, just some off brand cheap ones. Never again. They're only good for wire or lead. Same thing - breaks the thread right away. Never had that happen with name brand bobbins, even cheap ones
Save them for wire bobbins. Nice pups!
That's a great idea! Thank you for watching my friend and Tight lines!
Steve @blackflycreations
Bummer about the bobbin. That is a great looking fly.
Thank you Stacy! Your always so kind🙏
Don't see many fly tying equipment reviews.👍
You got me thinking brother! As always Jason thanks for watching!
Interesting
Though I still use my original bobkin for the main threads and a miniature version for the mini spools of old-school heavy threads.
Never had a need to replace.

The old school ones are the best! I wanted to try ceramic before spending 30 on a bobbin but I got what I paid for. Maybe these will get better in the future who knows, or maybe I'll private label a Black Fly tool kit! Thanks again for watching Eric!
Appreciate you,
Steve
@@blackflycreations You can "cut" ceramic with a dremel abrasive bit. It would need to be a "diamond/fake " coated. I would use a tapered bit.
This should flare the opening.
Just make sure you use water to lubricate while grinding... low speed would be sufficient.

Amazon is notorious for selling Chinese forgeries of good or high-quality American products. The number one problem with the Chinese forgeries is they are not worth a hot steaming pile of excrement. Stick with the REAL name brand products. They may be a little more expensive, BUT YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR. Rite Bobbins are some of the best bobbins on the market and I have several and have never had a single problem out of any of them.
It's unfortunate that companies copy name brands and sell them as originals. When I have items manufactured over seas or worldwide, I make sure they go through a US inspector and we do a lot of product testing before launching. Japan manufacturers quality and I have a couple manufacturers I've met in person but would never copy cat a name brand with cheap junk. You have to have quality control no matter where it's made.
But I agree with you, the Rite bobbin is awesome!
Thank you for watching!
Hope to chat again!

Bought the same and they are rubbish…
Yeah it's unfortunate. Hopefully they improve quality control. If not good for wire.
Thanks for watching!
Talk soon,
Steve
This is normal with Chinese knock offs. Cheap, but horrible quality.
Yeah it's unfortunate. It really just depends on the quality control. I use them for my tying wire now and there good for that, but not thread.
Thanks so much for watching!
Talk again soon,
Steve✌️
Pure bullshit!
The actual "RITE" bobbin is amazing, this knock off needs refinement but you get wut you pay for. Thx for watching William!✌️
