@@SunShine-gf4fh It's because Sims 2 came out in the early 2000nds, sure it had flaws but it was a HUGE improvement on the first game and revolutionary for it's time. While Sims 4 went back in quality from Sims 3 and 2, despite coming out in 2016.
Sims 3 somehow has an edge over 2 in this round. The soot on the ground, the charred objects when it burns and puddles actually dried up FIRST before fire spreads makes more sense. But boo to trees not catching fire, that's the only one not making sense.
Sims 2 has a bug which when a tree is burning, the fire won't stop and you can't do nothing, if you call the fire department, you'll get fined. When I play, usually the tree is hit by a lightning and - sometimes - using the "force error" (testingcheatsenabled) option does not work. I guess this may be the reason trees do not catch fire anymore in later games...
That happens when lightning strikes a tree, during a thunderstorm. Most times the rain puts it out, but there are instances of phantom eternal flames. The game recognizes that the rain put the fire out, but the graphics remain, and even deleting the tree won't put it out (you can even have your sim stand in the flame without getting singed or burned). Other instances are the bonfire (seems to happen when saving and exiting while bonfire is still going), as well as several CC cooking appliances. Again, deleting the objects will not rid the flame, nor can you place any objects in its place. However, if you don't mind using mods, you can easily use the Batbox Mod to rid the phantom flames, or build around it for storyline purposes, showing off how your sim is immune to 🔥🔥🔥🔥❣
@@TheMya1988 oh thanks for the explanation! I will search more about this mod and use it because it's really annoying having a tree on fire while my sims are just normally living haha
@@kiradarkangel4563 When you have this phantom fire glitch, the M.O.O. cheat does not work, and if it does, the game still recognizes the area the object was, as still being there, hence you might still be able to stand in the area, but not be able to replace object or place another in the same spot. The FFS Lot Debugger (a.k.a. the Batbox), by J.M. Pescado (MATY), can detect and remove those pesky hidden objects. Just keep in mind that the Batbox does have a lot of powerful actions that you should also save and back up game before experimenting with ALL of its features. With that said, the Batbox is one of the mods I cannot play without.
@TheMya1988 unfortunately it doesn't fix everything... I keep having that apartment trash glitch that the trash after someone kicked the trash can over gets invisible and it keeps spawning roaches... couldn't nuke it :(
TS2 beats TS1 (no need for any mods, fires are brutal in TS1). TS2 beats TS4 (except maybe for the snow soot). TS3 beats TS2 (except for plants and Trees, which TS2 takes that prize). TS3 smashes TS4 (what is up with its puddle jumping?). I did learn somewhere (I think it was @Sci Show, that not all flames will leave soot behind, having to do with the carbon and oxygen ratios. If you look closely at different fires, you will likely see smoke, the darker the smoke, the likelihood of dark soot. The lighter the smoke, the likelihood of lighter soot, and if the ratios are more balanced, you will notice a transparent smoke, with no soot (i.e. most modern gas burners). Of course many aspects can change the ratios, like water/ boiling over (on a gas stove) pot towards the flames source, or water/oil spattering out (on an electric stove), towards the heat source, either scenario has several outcomes. TS2 has phantom fire glitches, that become eternal flames, that your sim can stand in without getting burnt or singed, and the flame keeps going even if you delete the object. Happens often with bonfires (I think it occurs if you save and exit while a fire is active). Also, some CC stoves/ovens have this bug. You cannot place any objects in their place either, but they can easily be removed with the Batbox mod.
Can we also just point out how terrible the fire itself looks in Sims 4. It looks like a bunch of identical copy and paste effects placed side by side, whereas the other fires look like a whole organic thing.
This is so dystopian, you’d think they’d keep on innovating as they progress, but whenever they release a new game / update, it’s several steps back. Fucking weird.
When I was playing Sim 1 there was this awesome mechanic tha changed your job after you max it out. You got to experience all the diffrent outfits and get some reward from paying attention to leveling jobs.
Was the burning tree in TS3 part of the lot that was on fire or part of the world itself? Cause if it's part of the world, I don't think it's gonna burn since it's not considered an object inside the lot. Idk what explanation TS4 has though
I think I like Sims4 way of doing things when it came to water puddles v fire. Nothing else from there, it just feels like it makes the fire a lot more of a punishment for having a water leak.

tbf to the sims 3. being an open world if the big trees could catch on fire that would be hell to have a geuine forest fire randomly out in the world
But imagine the gameplay opportunities if one could start massive forest fires!
