    Idea to make the regular empire campaign more fun in the late game: let us buy state troops with the prestige currency!

      @@ElvenPlotArmour Surprisingly well. Of course, I was fighting mostly Chaos/Norsca. I achieved short campaign victory, consolidated a bit and then moved on once I hit that phase where you need to walk armies halfway around the world.
      Any melee that clumps against your greatswords gets just annihilated by the Sootson's. The only potential issue is a lot of strong single entities, but I had I think 2 Warrior Priests, an Empire Captain, and Franz himself pretty decked out and eating up single entities as a goon squad when need be.

    My favorite unique units is "Knights of everlasting light" for both name and magical ✨️ attack which visually their spear is glowing ✨️ which i love it ❤ downside is that by the time you get them. You essentially have better units BUT their saving grace is that the empire provides buffs for cavalry units so they can scale ⚖️ very good for late game. 🙂

  • @Wanderer628
    @Wanderer628 Год назад +4

    I agree with everything except Sootson's gun mortors. The downside of artillery is when your troops are in melee they become a little useless if there is no other artillery/ranged units to fire at. This unit bypasses that entire downside and they can fire into the troops engaging your centre line which is amazing as they bunch up to go after your poor spearmen. They more than earn their value and are easily S tier.

    • @ElvenPlotArmour
      @ElvenPlotArmour  Год назад +2

      I found them to be a great unit, but didn't find them quite hitting S Tier but I can absolutely see how a bit more attention could make them earn increased value. Will give them a closer look next time!

    • @Wanderer628
      @Wanderer628 Год назад +1

      @Elven Plot Armour Maybe its a difference in play style? I'm not really a meta player who will have armies kitted so that their artillery has obliterated the enemy before they've even left their deployment zone so I'd understand why some people might not see it as S tier. But when you're holding a line that is crumbling against armoured chaos warriors with great weapons, even a cavalry charge in the rear might not be effective, especially if you don't have a lot of cavalry and there is a lot of infantry. But a salvo from the mortors will send infantry blobs flying then a cavalry chage will see entire flanks crumble.
      Cool in sieges as well as when your infantry is fighting on the walls and you need them to finish up so you can send them elsewhere a salvo or two into their midst will sort them out.
      Plus micro managing can get a bit frantic so knowing you don't have to worry about them firing short and obliterating half your army means you can focus on other things.
      If you haven't leaned already I'm a big Sootson simp.

    Great video. Funny enough after the last empire video you made i went to play an empire campaign and when i tried to rush to kill Festus so he doesnt tank my prestige i found him getting curb stomped by Talabekland , Hotchland and Middenland. Never before have i seen Festus being besieged by 3 different elector counts in his keep and then just die to them. Then i remembered the most fun part of TW Warhammer, the insane things that can happen because of diplomacy and then i remembered the time In 2 when i As Eltharion got double teamed by Morathi and Franz of all people.

    • @ElvenPlotArmour
      @ElvenPlotArmour  Год назад +1

      The unpredictability is certainly what makes it! Rushing Festus is now a dated tactic that simply overexposes you. You'll get to him in due course, at which point you'll have handgunners to deal with his armour, otherwise it can be a rough matchup. Getting those sweet State Troops sure is tempting though haha. You've right in that you've always got to keep an eye on that late game diplomacy to ensure things play out your way.

      @DillsyYourDaddy67 Год назад +1

      @@ElvenPlotArmour Something like once a unit gets to full veterancy you get an option to upgrade them to an RoR. You get a certain amount of skill points and can upgrade them with better stats and unique traits like +10 attack or unbreakable and of course an army painter so you can change colours and skin of the unit.
      Then to balance it maybe you get like max 10-15 custom RoR per campaign. That way you don't have armies running around with full infinite RoR doom stacks.

    I tried annexing marrienburg only and that caused way too many problems for it to be worth it. While the economic benefits where good, it caused the attention of Be'lakor to come to us and my Brettonian allies were basically useless when it came to blocking them. Luon decided to abandon his capital to one of Belakor's norscan vassals so Be'lakor had complete and had complete axes to marrienburg, so I had to put Franz there just to get him to screw off. This was also happening while wurzag was trying to kill gelt who I confederated to deal with the ever-expanding vampire counts.

    • @ElvenPlotArmour
      @ElvenPlotArmour  Год назад +1

      I feel you when it comes to Be'lakor being discovered and targeting you. I personally feel it's worth it and then peacing out with Marienburg afterward so they can act as buffer from the North. Later on, I capture and gift them to Nordland for an easy confed.
      I used to avoid taking Marrienburg in WH2 for the reasons you mention, but I've found Brettonia are worthwhile in holding off most threat, though Be'lakor will make a few stabs at you before giving up.
      The Vampire Counts are really unpredictable, sometimes taking everything while others struggling with their own civil wars. Gelt I feel now is the bigger trap to confed early as it brings so much hostile attention in the opening turns. There's a reason why this is such a widely played campaign, never a dull moment!

      It could go one of 2 ways. It'll either help the Empire by giving Drycha another threat to drag her attention away, or will make things far worse! Time will tell! Honestly the only elector count troops I care about are the Eldred's Guard and the upgraded handgunners. The others are pointless. Most of the cavalry is made for killing infantry but I prefer my Hellstorm Batteries to do that. Infantry is pointless as well, I don't need them to kill, just to hold the line so I don't care for the Swordsmen and Greatswords. My usual army comp for any lord is a line of 6 spearmen, 6 handgunners to focus the single entities or any easy armored targets, 3 or 4 batteries, A general, mage, warrior priest and 1 or 2 units that can take care of large entities: demygryphs/cannons/luminark. I think artillery and handgunners is the optimal mid and late game empire comp and I prefer to use Baltazar Gelt because he buffs everything I need: tankier frontline, stronger gunpowder, stronger mages.

      While I agree those are the ones that are worth "actively" getting because they simply pump up the Empire's existing playstyle, I do love the other ones being available anywhere which results to varied armies. I like your setup, you might be interested in my formations video and see how the playstyles stack up

      @@ElvenPlotArmour i watched the Empire video some time ago. I liked the formation for the early army, not necessarily the units used (a bit too many different types of units for my comfort though it makes sense for less lazy generals out there), but the formation seemed good. I never played Markus and I found Huntsmen to be trash, but maybe they work on him. Your Gelt army is pretty much the same as mine, though the Greatswords and Halberdiers are random. The Lumynarch is overkill but I love using them. 1 extra Battle Priest makes sense, I wasn't sure if the replenishment effect stacks. The extra mage doesn't make sense to me, more than 1 mage in any army hardly makes sense for me, winds of magic are limited, I wouldn't put 2 to fight over them, and Gelt especially has really low cooldowns that make him quite micro intensive, which is why I actually resorted to purely defensive battle lines that can do work on their own while I micro him

    A lot of people seem to hate on The Empire's lineholding or melee infantry but I think it's unfair to rate them without regard for Warrior Priests, the various Runefangs (Reikland's in particular) and the ability to access Light, Life and Beast magic. In my opinion you are not doing your units justice if you fail to have at least a Light wizard and a Warrior Priest in every army to buff your units.
    The combination of Birona's Timewarp, Reikland Runefang ability and the Hammer of Sigmar ability makes for either +72 melee attack if used all at once or a consistent +24 melee attack if used in succession.

    • @SGProductions87
      @SGProductions87 6 месяцев назад

      Remember as well Light of Battle is in Lore of Light making your units unbreakable if you don't want to or can't currently use Flagellants/Steam Tanks/Carroburg Greatswords.

    • @SGProductions87
      @SGProductions87 6 месяцев назад

      The non-unbreakable units will often flee at 30-50% HP or be terror routed which is more of a weakness than their attack and defence so that's why Light of Battle is really important for The Empire.

Middenland now usually falls, I resurrect them, and only them. Everyone else leave gone, they'll just cost you. But raise up Boris - don't rush the confed too quick - let him pay for the upgrades and rebuild the city :) Then confederate him - Middenland and Solland (Gelt) are the 2 areas you should rush to confed, the rest you should take your time. Gift Durthu below, war with him is painful. Good luck mate. Cheers for watching.

      Organ guns and volleys are very close in their use. If you can keep a single unit still, the more direct sniping of volley guns just deletes enemies, so getting a Light Wizard will help them punch up. The organ guns have a wider short burst of very high AP and they're just amazing and nailing down groups of heavy units as well. Both are amazing, though I will say, Organ Guns have NEVER let me down.
