Whimbrel wanted to stay with somebody (Merbled godwit), South Padre TX, April 17, 2015

He/she might have worried about being raid if staying alone in the open sea. I have once witnessed a Whimbrel suddenly became such a victim on a beach. The hungry Peregrine falcon has eaten pretty much everything and left only few remaining.
