I can’t watch this without crying. growing up in a running family. Going to this marathon this celebration of a finish line. One of the most amazing places I’ve ever seen. This doesn’t happen in the running community. In the distance running community were a family. My dad might have gone 2013 and ran a different race instead. We had so many friends there. They were physically okay but these places are our homes and that 8 year old boy was me ten years ago wide eyed making a family within the running community. It’s taken me five years to even comprehend what happened and it hurts.
I've been thinking a lot about this recently. I was only nine when this happened and I remember just standing there in front of the tv in shock. I wasn't around for 9/11, but as I got older and hearing people talk about remembering where they were and how scared they were when 9/11 happened, it made me realize that this was "my 9/11" per say. Even though it's been six years, watching this I still feel that terror that nine year old me felt.

I don’t remember this cause I was around 6 at the time and I have a bad memory but my mom told me that we where close to the marathon cause my mom was shopping in Macy’s and we heard a bomb, just the facts that we where close to the tragedy makes me grateful that nothing happens to us
There were ~23k runners in this marathon. The last group to leave the starting line left at 10:40am EST. The 1st bomb blast was at 2:49pm EST, 4hrs 9 min later. Do the math. The times suggested by the young man at 2:46 and Miss Roche at 3:56 don't make sense if they were running anywhere near their qualifying times.
I was just at the scene in boston today. the windos are still blown out(although boarded up) and lots and lots of flowers and crying people it was very depressing to see:(
btw: m mom and her friends ran it a couple ears ago and her friends have pictures at the finishline. My old friends from Charlestown boston were there and took photos and were standing right near the first bomb.
