- While going through some old digital video from 2008-2010, I found some footage of a few things no longer at Adventureland Park in Iowa.
More to come when I go through my older tapes...
I miss the silly silo and the log ride. :-( Those were the best rides
Yeah, the storm chaser is pretty cool, and the monster is absolutely insane, but the silly silo and log ride hold a special place in my heart as a kid.

this is actually really sad to me because i live in iowa and it tore me apart when they took out the silly silo and the log ride

Wow it's so nice to see these again. I've moved to Florida and I often go to Busch Gardens and Disney world but I honestly miss Adventureland so much. I miss the rides, the food, the magic parlor, the smell of the park, the pavement under your feet. It will forever hold a place in my heart.
I miss that ride, and the log ride too, I really hope they leave the underground ride alone, love that one.
James Warrick Underground is my favorite. At the end of 2018, they updated it a bit. I have one or two videos posted of it from last year.

I feel like all of these old rides were better than the ones the replaced them with. Like who rlly enjoys the storm chaser. It's cold and windy and so slow. I would much rather have the silly solo
Growing up made me appreciate Adventureland a lot as a kid. I’m now 21 but growing up I loved going with my family to ride the splash over, log ride, dragon, falling star, inverter and waiting in the long line of the raging River. All those now gone
Folks are saying the Sky Ride is gone, too. The park photos photos of construction and the wires don’t seem to be there any more.
You should do a side by side comparison of the park then to what it is today

yea, i mean we need people like you Allen to remind the younger generation what it use to be like. that is why i like history so much.
Chris Lynch I did shoot new video of every ride, and most shops and games, last year but haven't edited it yet. Finding "now" versions of my 1999 video will be a project for this season,

At 47 years old, the Silly Silo is the only ride a actually remember riding at Adventureland when I was a kid...

I never got the chance to go on the log ride but I’ve gone on things like it and they’re really fun so it’s a shame they took it out :(
I remember, many old rides from that place. the driveable model Ts, a Trolley, the mixer, the mountain roller coaster (where the giant farris wheel is now), shows at the place theater, the silo. the scrambler,the dophin shows (where outlaw gulch ride is now).
Chris Lynch There are some 1970s home movies someone posted on RUclips. They show a few of the things you mentioned. I didn't move here until 1995 so I am unaware of the older stuff. Adventureland.parkhopping.com/Wiki has a history page I have been working on.

Janice Strube the silly silo ride is outdated i don't think any amusement park has it? Worlds of fun in Kansas Missouri. might but, don't quote me on it.
@@janicestrube5980 I asked about it, no one made parts for it anymore that's why they removed it.
I'll have the old commercial theme song for this stuck in my head forever.
Log ride was the best
Rest in peace silly silo. Also getting rid of the log ride was a mistake, as simple as it was, it had the longest line of any ride, at any time of day.
I think before the the model T s it was jeeps. You could pick which track to follow. I also remember the Queen boat ride. It when around Raging Rapids and Dragon islands before they where built.

2022 begins a new era of it being a Palace Entertainment park. Let’s hope they keep the Krantz family spirit alive!
i remember the super screamer and before the outlaw area was added. and the small coaster where the giant wheel is now.
Loved that blue coaster and miss the Super Screamer.
oh yea, we have something like that in Omaha,Ne at fun plex, we did have one at the old Peony Park which is now a hyvee. that park was in omaha from 1938 to 1994. most of that roller coster was inclosed.
The log ride too
0:40 Oh, wow I don’t ever recall a water gun game outside the arcade! It must’ve been moved inside the arcade. I worked in Games at Adventureland last year and the Alpine games were a fun place to work at.
I believe that one was lost in the Main Street fire years ago, and when they rebuilt that side of Main Street they added a new version there. It’s an all-new building, recreated to look like the original from the outside but VERY different on the inside. Best restroom in the park is in that building, I think.

I miss the log ride way more than the silly silo.
But they both got replaced by awesome rides. With the pretty cool water park I say they went in the right direction.

I went a couple weeks ago, the rides were still fun but the arcade is extremely lame now
The fire destroyed the remaining 80s games. They had a TRON.
Looks like the fine folks at Palace Entertainment are giving my A-Land some TLC recently.
Let’s hope it continued. You can’t look at hardly any post the park makes on Facebook without finding negative comments these days.
With a 2023 season pass…I can’t wait to see how much A-Land has changed since my last visit…in 2018.

You should see it now in 2024. Most of this stuff is gone now.
@@taylorriccelli4062 I will have to update this video. I should have clips of all the stuff they have removed in my "Adventureland A to Z" video. Sigh. So many classics gone, right as the 50th anniversary happens.

@@allenhuffman I’ve never been on the silly silo, but I have been on the flying Viking. I don’t know if you’ve ever been on that but it’s fun. It’s less more intense than the monster.

I miss home
It was really sad cause I live in Iowa near adventure land and it hurt Bc they took out the log ride for the monster, the monster is a great ride but the log ride shouldn’t have been taken out!
Relax. It’s 2023, and we have Draken Falls to thank for that!
I would always ride the log ride and my sister would force me on the silly silo and I would always fell like puking
They took out the dragon as well but that was like just like Last year
expected a bit more of the older stuff. Good video though.
I'm not from Iowa, so these are the oldest things I've seen :-)
There is a great Super 8 film posted here by KiddFoxx or something like that, which has stuff from the first year or two the park was open. Very interesting!

And I saw that the kiddie boat ride is gone, replaced by a relocated different type of ride. The former location for the circus can be added, too.

Robbie Oldsen I didn't live in Iowa back then, and had never heard about it until someone posted a newspaper ad for it in the Iowa Adventureland Fans (Unofficial) Facebook group. Apparently, the only thing left from it is a mound of dirt still on the property.
