Wow that was your first time soldering ? You could have fooled me , you did a fantastic job. So fine detailed with lots of gems & rhinestones, very beautiful ! Fit for a Princess !!
I've been sewing for over 10 years and I am always amazed by your videos and the amount of work and patience you put into your creations. I hope you pursue a career in costume design.
I've always been intimidated by beading but your creations always make me feel like I should give it a go! Lovely video and I can't wait to see the video you made for the dress!
It is a very beautiful crown. The larger rhinestone with the pyramid-shaped bottoms are called chatons in case anyone is looking for them. Martha Stewart has some at Michael's although I think they are only available in the smaller sizes.
I had no idea I was looking for a medieval headpiece to go with a gown I got for Halloween until I saw your video and realized that this was perfect. Very informative, very elegant, excellently executed. Well done!
So lovely, as always! It was fun to get to see your learning process with the soldering iron, it's always so neat how you apply different techniques to your projects. Can't wait to see the progress on the rest of the costume. Thank you for posting!
I've never had much of an interest in crowns unless they were fantasy-ish, but wow, your whole channel has me hooked, I love this! It's so fascinating and beautiful, I'm honestly itching to run off to the craft store and try this
Gorgeous project! I must give this a try...doesn't every woman need a crown?! Of course! Thank you for all the great tips too, I love the idea of removing the E6000 strings with tape. Looking forward to the videos of the gown that matches this head piece.
as always, using your instinct and through trial and error ( which I find when it happens to me, its amazing how creative you can become to compensate and no one is the wiser ) you have a natural talent that is thoroughly enjoyable to to watch develop, xx
Wow! Thank you for the great idea of using the syringe for E6000! I've always found that glue hard to use because it oozes out continuously. What a great tip! Plus the crown and outfit are stunning!
Thank you for giving us a bit more detail on your beading process. I am trying to plan some projects of my own where I can do bead work - you have inspired me. Looking forward to the dress video - it's beautiful!
This is so gorgeous!! That tip about using painter's tape to pick up glue strands is brilliant! I'm so glad I discovered your channel. I do a lot of costume making for my photography and I'm sure I'll learn a ton from you! 😊
it is beautiful. i only sew practical stuff as i find things like this a waste of money to do, but if you are doing costume designs, this is really helpful. great job! maybe in the future i'd refer to it again if i ever get a costume job or something.
Also, in the uk most high schools teach their students how to solder, connect wires to make electrical projects along with other 'technology subjects' like woodwork, engineering, food tech, graphic design, etc that are compulsory for the first three years of high school (ages 11-14) and then we get to pick which subjects we take for the final two years for our exam qualifications. For the first time soldering you did great! Just be careful not to accidentally put your soldering iron on the jewellery wire while you're holding it as it will heat up very quickly and burn you. I once accidentally picked up my wire instead of soldering wire (I was young and tired) and end burnt my finger.
I want to have a crown for my sweet 16 next year. I don't know if my mom will let me lol but I think it would be really cool. Thank you for this tutorial.
Hello Angela ~ i have watched several of your videos and am in awe of your ability and your work ethic ... i would like to know if you ever make any of your "modern, everyday" clothes? Also, I would imagine a young person as focused as you are has an idea of your ultimate aspirations??? I also like to make my own patterns (although i do take some directions and inspiration from ready-made patterns) ... i will often take apart an item i already have and like very much to create a pattern ... however, i cannot begin to aspire to your level of expertise.
I was just wondering, I see in some shots of your videos there are some sketches of the costumes you are doing (I can only assume!). I would love to see some videos of how you plan out your designs and ideas x
Hi, im in the middle of sewing a prom dress for my friend and have been looking everywhere for those gold beads you have. I live near NYC as well so if you know where I could find them, please let me know. Thank you!
If you can find it G-S Hypo Cement has a hypodermic needle on it for precise application instead of needing a separate syringe. If you have a hobby lobby nearby you can usually find it there.
The technique used to add the seed beads along the bottom edge is called couching - in case you want to search at term for a more detailed video on how to do it.
I'd like to add that if you are using E600, please do so outdoors or near an open window with a respirator in either case. Breathing in the fumes is toxic.
Wow i never thought of using the solder iron for jewelry making! Do you use a ventilating hood or any types of air ventilation? Cuz the smokes emitting from the soldering is very dangerous if you're doing this continuously! Love your work!
My question exactly. It isn't linked, nor is it mentioned. AND the typical wire you find at places like WalMart is way too easily flexible. What type of wire? What gauge? Is it plated/coated?
