This from a Viking fan. Multiple years of very high draft picks combined with an aggressive coach and OC have made Detroit one heluva football team. That and the fact our illustrious QB returned to his Jets roots of seeing ghosts and looking like a deer in the headlights guaranteed their win. I've hear decades of "Restore the Roar" BS, lions fans, when you were the doormat of the league. Looks like you finally found that roar. Much respect, guys. SKOL.
It isn't just "very high draft picks," because (obviously) not all first rounders come through. Obviously, they chose wisely on Sewell and Hutch, but they also showed a lot of savvy in trading to acquire Gibbs, Jamo, Alim, and LaPorta. And what about Branch (deep into second round) and St. Brown and Joseph taken in 4th round drafts?
Yeah was at game was crazy in there especially when Gibbs ran for 40 plus yrds our section was going nuts and what made it even better was that I was sitting next to a Vikings fan with his son they was cool but son started crying when Gibbs scored his 4th td
The offsides penalty for the first might have been my favorite play of the game. Because it 100% was setup for weeks ahead of time. Against the Packers when they lined up on 4th down at the end, the entire D line was keyed on not jumping offsides because no way was Detroit hiking that ball... Except they did, and easily got 7 yards because the defense wasn't ready. Flash forward to the Vikings game - D line is amped to get the stop because they could still get back in the game and because of the Packers game, they D line KNOWS they are going to hike it and are amped to blow the play up. And the Lions absolutrly clowned them taking the free first down.
Rule 8 Sec 2 Item 2: " Intentional grounding shall not be called if 1. The passer initiates his pass toward an eligible receiver and is significantly affected by physical contact from a defensive player that causes the pass to land in an area that is not in the direction/vicinity of an eligible receiver." Goff clearly had 2 eligible players that could be considered his initial target but the trajectory of his throw is impacted by the physical contact of the defensive player. Doesn't matter how far away those players are or if the ball was ultimately uncatchable. If the ref decides the accuracy of the pass was affected by the contact of the D player there is no penalty. It's a judgement call by the ref as is apparently the play clock.
@ absolutely, that man is a leader on and off the field for the Lions. What really makes the division title special is, they still have 5 or 6 defensive starters on the injury list along with the 3 or 4 offensive starters that are out. EVERYONE on that team has “ANSWERED THE CALL”. Gibbs leads the NFL in rushing TDs, with 29, more than Barkley, more than Henry. 🏆🏆🏆 🦁🦁🦁
Great to see a day I didn't think I'd ever see. I even used to joke about it. The Lion's defense played a great game and have played a great season no matter what hits them. Gibbs runs with speed and smarts. And Goff, excellent QB. Not done yet. Can't win the Superbowl until you win the games to get there and I believe this team has everything it needs to get there. Roar, Lions, roar. God bless you.
That's crap. Don't forget the Vikings were picked to win nomore than 6 games this year because it was a rebuilding year, yet they won 14 games. In a rebuilding year. With a bridge QB and eating 67 million dollars in dead cap. We have our future QB in house, we have a cleared cap, and we have a great management and coaching staff. Our future is bright.
Vikings always choke in big games like this. Nothing new to see here. I really hope we keep it together in the playoffs. I see us beating the rams but having trouble with the lions again.
As a devout football fan (lions) defense is my fav. You can have your QB,receiver,runningback...the defense does it all!!! They can score, stop the other side. I love a low scoring game because that means the defense played balls out!!!!
Cashman was ONE HUNDRED PERCENT NOT HELD WHATSOEVER on the Gibbs receiving TD. I slowed it down and could not see a hold. It’s like the announcer knew we would convert and had it cued in his mind that he was gonna say hold before the play even started. Dan Miller would never do something like this. At worst he would say something after the play, “it looked like Anzalone was grabbed… let’s see the replay”. Then admit when he was wrong. Something tells me this announcer was way too salty to admit he was wrong.
@@Nebuchadnezzar18 I was at the game and there were 4-5 total they got away with before they started calling them. I have OCD about this. There were several. But yes, 2 were absolutely egregious. 1 was on a giant gain and a HUGE 3rd down conversion.

@@steezbreakdowns Based on the rule's technicality, having an eligible receiver within 10 yards of the throw makes it not intentional grounding, since the rule's wording doesn't say the potential receiver must be able to theoretically catch it. That's why another team's QB (I forgot who) against the Lions wasn't given an intentional grounding for throwing a ball so high above all the players that none could catch it.
I almost feel bad for the Vikings. A 14 win team ending up 5 is some BS. Getting into the playoffs is enough of a reward for winning a mediocre division, the Rams and Bucs shouldn’t be higher seeds.
The Lions hang over is real, Vikings have lost 3 times this year, twice to the lions and once to the Rams, and the loss to the rams was right after a loss to the Vikings. @@diamonddave7555oh so your defense made our receivers too short to catch passes 10 feet over their heads? It had nothing to do with Sam over throwing them? Your defense made Sam ignore open receivers too i bet?
Reynolds should have been drifting to the right after the chip block. It was designed that way but but is usually run with Gibbs or Monty. Reynolds saw the defender moving in on Goff and seemed to follow instead of leak out like he should have. Goff really had no choice if he was going to elude a sack. Because Reynolds didn't leak out wide enough Goff couldn't loft the ball with a high enough arc and velocity to clear the defender, who reached up for it. Pace being there was unlucky, but he beat a block as well. I put it down to Reynolds not running the play live before and poor execution on his part. Yeah, Goff should have recognized it but the defender got on him pretty quick and made a heads up play, followed by luck in Pace being right there in front of Reynolds.
Don’t blame the refs. The Viqueens had their chances and blew it. Maybe if you guys all pony up and buy Jefferson one more chain he’ll come down with that touchdown next time.

No way the Lions win the super bowl if they don't get some defensive players back. You can't keep missing 14 of your 22 two deep on defense and expect to continuously compete with the elite playoff teams. Darnold was off in this game. He overthrew several open receivers. That won't happen against Philly or KC or Baltimore and we all know what Buffalo did to our defense. Thank God for the bye week. The Lions defense won the game for them. Four trips into the red zone with only 6 points to show for their effort. Anzalone is back!!
Crazy what one key player can do. Shut them down completely
The Lions' offense repeatedly stayed on the field long enough to keep the Lions defense from getting exhausted.
Sam Darnold helped them along quite well. Coulsn't hit a bull in the butt with a bass fiddle.
