The guitarist Steve Cropper and bass player Donald "Duck" Dunn are both featured in the movie Blues Brothers as members of the Blues Brothers band playing themselves!! Now check out Hold On I'm Comin' and I Thank You!!
I just love your reactions . Of all first reactions I've see . Your videos are the closest to my own taste 😍 Even here now(minus 4 degrees ) , this warms up . Please react to "hold on.." live with the booker t and the mgs . (Omg what a base-player )
Love this legendary music!! These brothas is on 🔥!! That horn section is 🥵 too!!! Thanks for this share & appreciation to the real REAL DEAL!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️
Hey scribe, I watched you react to a song by Stevie Winwood called " can't find my way home". By the fireplace. Stevie played keyboard and guitar for Sam and Dave at age 15. If you listen to minute 3 mark he say play it Steve.
The song they vibe on during the late interlude -- "I like what you do when you're doing it with me" -- is a variation on their song "I Thank You" which ZZ Top turned into a stone cold banger in 1979. A couple of other Sam & Dave classics to check out are "Hold On, I'm Comin" and "You Don't Know Like I Know". And really, when you can, you ought to figure out how to post a reactiong to The Blues Brothers movie from 1980. That bass line is cold. But your eyes were closed so you missed it when the camera showed the bass player puffing away on a pipe! Donald "Duck" Dunn was a member of Booker T. & The MG's as well as a studio musician for Stax records.
My friend Elsie requested this on Jamel's channel, I'm very happy to see you react to it too. You did a great job! Thanks also to all that commented here and at Jamel's place. Sam and Dave are great I gotta check out more from them.
Me and a good buddy dressed up for an event like The Blues Brothers years ago.it was a week end long event and a big dance on The Saturday night.part of it was a singing contest. We did this tune(neither of us can sing) lol we killed and won the trophy.great memory. The guitarist and Bassist for S&D were in The Blues bros band! Sorry .I love telling that story lol
This is another classic video from the "Midnight Special" TV show. All the performances on those shows were done live. And many of these performances are some of the only videos of these performers playing live. You should do a reaction to the video of Aretha Franklin and Ray Charles doing a duet on the song "It Takes Two". Aretha wow Ray Charles wow but the two together is off the HOOK!! See if you can find the video.
The backing band is Booker T. and The MGs, the first integrated soul band, with the Memphis Horns. Sam and Dave were Stax Records artists as was Otis Redding and many more, you would do well to watch the STAX documentary and react to Sam and Dave Revue, Germany 1967, thanks!
The Real Thang...Etta James singing "Feel Like Breaking Up Somebody's Home". North Sea Jazz Festival live. Ann Pebbles did it first & it was good, but ETTA...SO SASSY.

You might a cool cat... But you'll never be Donald "Duck" smoking a pipe and getting a bass boogie on with Sam and Dave.
Donald Duck Dunn! Bloody legend!
Smiling ear to ear watching you feel and appreciate this. For the record that's not singing, it's sangin' :-)

Soul music at it's finest....... I agree with you that I too hear the influence of church.
In the background there you’ve got Booker T and the MGs and The Memphis Horns. The best soul sidemen in the business.

Sam and Dave “Hold on I’m Comin” 1967 😎🔥 🕺 🕺
(Think Sam & Dave borrowed Little Richard’s sax players😀)
Yessss sistah. I was in high school when this funk came out. I got the record first and was the envy of the neighborhood. I was groovin!
If you loved this. You will love the blues brother cover version from Saturday night live
Donald “Duck” Dunn on bass, Steve Cropper on lead guitar, it’s the band from the movie “Blues Brothers.” Sam & Dave were the original blues brothers.
Motown is slick, Philly soul is smooth....but you can't beat Memphis R&B. Long live STAX!!
Glad you can enjoy the richness of my generation music.
5:57 Your eyes were closed on one of the best parts-pipe smoking guitar player.
5:56 The guy smoking the pipe playing the bass looks like Bilbo Baggins, ala The Hobbit/Lord Of The Rings. LOL
If this was church as a kid, I'd never miss a Sunday!
Feelin’ it, Sista! Nice clip!
All that souls in stage and Steve Cropper is playing guitar looking goofy. He could shred though...
