    Something to consider if choosing to use kl203 even at recommended input levels they'll need time between keys for adequate cooling

    Yep, always look into why the fuse might have blown before reapplying DC.

    They are easy to overdrive. Yes, each amp should have an output video. Doesn't need to be long video.

    Those 4 fet devices cost about $250 each, just replace them MR Tech! Great little amps!

      Not worth the effort in my opinion.
      Nobody would want to buy it anyways.
      There's no used market on these type of devices.

    You should try Wago lever nuts for hooking up wires temporarily. They are good for 24-12 AWG wires and are easily removed and attached. The fuse blew for a reason. I would have used a current limiting power supply and brought it up slowly until I saw something happening. Reverse polarity on semiconductors, not good.

    Not being a snob but lol, the mosfet was open my friend maybe next time check them first before replacing the fuse.

    Scott,
    I'm sure a lot of us (specifically ME) would love to see someone design a front plate or decal for this neat little Amp (I have 2 of them) that is 180° (upside down). About 98% of my mounting options are upside down and I would like to read the front panel right side up.
    Yes, I'm familiar with heat dissipation, etc., which is not a problem for me. I just need a panel that gives me that option and convenience. If not you, then maybe one of your subs might take on this project. I would be your first customer!

    I have run a RM 203 for years with 3 different radios. I added a fan to mine to keep it running cool. I am surprised that it still works, to be honest, because i have abused that little amp. Sounds like the amp in the video had waaay too much power put into it.
    The hottest radio i put into my 203 is my Cobra 148, which deadkeys 3 watts swinging to about 20. Good little amps for the money.

    Hi all, are you still selling Anytone cb radios ?

  • @nomadradio
    @nomadradio 12 дней назад +3

    Shoulda put a ground screw into each coax socket before powering it up with the radio attached. Having only the center conductor of each coax connected with no ground is a great way to make it oscillate and self-destruct. Quickly. We adopted the habit of placing a wattmeter and coax jumper between the radio and amplifier before making any tests. If the amplifier mimics a barrel connector and shows the low SWR of the dummy load, it's safe to apply power. And if there is any real mismatch with the power off, there is no justification to apply power to the amplifier until the "barrel connector" test flunk is cleared.

    • @rhyoliteaquacade
      @rhyoliteaquacade 12 дней назад

      Yeah, when I saw all those screws were removed I expected that would happen. Having even one screw in each would have saved it from oscillation.

    if it was "shorted" it would still be making contact. It's OPEN

  • @gixerags750
    @gixerags750 15 дней назад +1

    You would make your money back selling the remaining parts , case etc ..that's why the dead key has to be set inside the radio, can't trust a power level front control, too easy to make a mistake.

    Same as the klm 60 most techs turn the lower values away not worth their time if you order from likes of copper electronics those RM3 RUN ABOUT 5 $ NOW LAST SET I GOT WERE ONLY 1.25 each

    They just don't make burners like they used to. RM might be labelled as Italian, but they're made entirely from inferior Chinese components that don't last. 🤔

    • @ScottsRadios
      @ScottsRadios  13 дней назад +1

      If you run them according to specification they always work.
      I've never burned one ever here and I've used them with multiple different radios even higher power ones with the proper minimum input power.

      you have 1 subscriber, no videos, and you attack 1 of the few people left in the country that is being helpful? the painful to watch part i can get along with, because 99% of the time it is the operator's fault and he was spending HIS time, HIS money, and HIS efforts to document the process, while eating the loss.
