The true tragedy is that in the context of the story you as a replicant want to survive and live but that’s not actually possible. Replicants can’t reproduce and don’t live as long as humans do without the soul re entering the vessel. So by resisting both species died out. But asking them to die for us was still cruel.

The issue is you cant really balance this many lives on a single choice, the internal urge of humans to survive will persevere and they will do anything to protect themselves and the people they love. Even if the replicants had known the truth, not all of them would have agreed anyway, Nier CERTAINLY would have said no so that would still doom everyone since gestalts would just relapse again.

That was the cause of white chlorination in the first place. Its not really like the trolley thought experiment because there is a legitimate correct answer, the player simply couldnt have known nor would they have agreed. If the replicants fuse as planned then only they die, they cant live long without a soul to begin with. So you can actually balance this many on a choice. 1 choice kills a group that was built from the beginning to be sacrificed. The other choice dooms both groups to respect the autonomy of 1 for the short span of life they have left.
I loved the Nier Replicant ver 1.22... soundtrack! So glad they went back to it and rebuilt the game and the music! The Nier soundtracks are the best! Listen to songs from them everyday as I go out and about!
I think it's because this is the first song that Emi Evans made with chaos language too. Just went to NieR orchestra [the end of data] the day before and hearing them singing this song in person is a memory you will never forget

The twins hid the truth from you from the start and yet have the audacity to complain when you revolt from their "truth" and defend yourself from their attack? They 100% failed what they were intended to do and I do not feel bad for them at all.
@@gaspump I haven't played enough of Automata or gotten any more endings for Gestalt/Replicant (only A), but I do agree that they probably handled it poorly. However, I still did feel like a monster attacking the two people who were kind to you and who were fighting you for the future of mankind. And when Song of the Ancients / Devola plays after Popola goes mad it was a nice touch. And I doubt that you would have turned back even after being told the truth, so the twins would have thought that they could overpower you.
Nier replicant's final hours are so heartbreaking. Nier has to kill his Mother figures and then his best friend Sacrifices himself, another Friend sacrifices a few minutes later and then he has to kill a poor guy thar just wants to be happy with his sister and finally he has to erase his existence to save the woman he loves, holy shit, just writing that hurted me a little

It is the beginning of 2023. While everyone is simping the twin androids from Atomic Heart, I am still devoted for Devola and Popola. My, it was Devola's song that actually brought me to Drakengard/Nier franchise 4 years ago, after all. So for me, it is never enough of "Song Of The Ancients".
I dislike the design of the automatas in atomic heart. Too close to Warframe for my taste, too lacking on heart for the sex Nier has the better androids

You see Rafs and Natashas being more utilitarian while a little humanoid; Vovchiks being humanoid and omnipotent at manning the human-oriented tools and machines... And the twins being just some kind of fancy bodyguards reflecting Soviet-era fashion for the balley. And in Nier universe androids were created to serve mankind cause even without human supervision, and they have always considered looking the most humanlike, not neccessarily practical.

I loved the style of combat with that weapon so much, especially since the game was enhanced as they brought in the same person who designed the combat for Nier Automata! It felt so smooth and fun to use on enemies!
unfortunately because it's so goof. it makes all other weapons irrelevant and completely breaks the combat system. alls you need to do is spam Phoenix spear, and dark Lance + takedown stab. it's broken and kinda not fun. but it really helps to speed through the more dull route C/D
Love how you can see the fierce determination in devolas eyes to halt your progress, whereas popola has nothing but sadness and discomfort maybe even disappointment in herself or just brother Nier entirely lol

I personally don't like listening to OG replicants tracks, since the replicant I played was ver 1.22. so it feels weird and wrong/out of place to listen to versions of the tracks that I won't personally hear in the game when I play it. makes sense to those who played the original. but not to those whose first time with replicant was ver 1.22.
@@trevorveillette8415 As someone who didn't play either and listened to both after I've digged through all Nier's lore. I can say that the OG resonated with me more, especially when listening to it with Drakengard's and Nier Automata's soundtrack. I just think it fits more thematically IMO.
currently in the process of playing replicant and i’ve only completed the first ending, but even just hearing this made me tear up due to how emotional the last two hours or so of the first ending is. nothing compares to this game; even automata.

I loved that moment in Nier Automata looking back on it. I actually played Nier Automata before Nier/Nier Replicant so I didn't understand the lore at the time, but now that I do I have a higher appreciation for what took place in Automata. The game was lend to me by a friend. Ended up buying Automata not too long after because of how much I loved the game. It had such an emotional impact on me and definitely one I'll never forget.

@@nuadacube I had played Automata before Replicant as well but I gotta say, as soon as I recognized the library I got pretty surprised and when I realized it I went back to Automata to look at the library in the tower, it's a matching replica but the trophies are switched to the enemies in Automata, that's like the only difference I saw aside from the whole place being white instead of being in color. I actually bought NeiR Replicant as soon as I saw it was like 40% off because of me playing Automata, these games are truely amazing and I'm waiting for when I can get the original NeiR so I can play it as well

One of the few boss battles that made me cry in the middle of it. Here Nier is killing the two closest people he saw as family outside of his sister, kaine, emil and weiss. I saw this live in chicago at the orchestra this year and cried all over again. It was an amazing experience.
Both games are so beautiful even though I like the mechanics and evading better in automata just hearing this in NeiR replicant made my day when I 1st started playing this I was so happy that they actually used this song in the main village
I don't know if they had original human forms. From what I know they were designed by some scientists to carry out the creation of the replicants and ensure that the shades were properly merged with the bodies to become fully human again.
Getting to that final battle with Devola and Popola, not the little scuffle you have the actual fight, I could already feel as if everything was so god danm wrong. I knew the game had more endings but I was already dreading what was coming up, the music really adds to it.
I finished Replicant last week and still unable to play other game, the game just feld very special to me, and i didn't found so depressive like everyone says The story is full of virtue, of love and friendship End D seems like a "redemption" for the protagonist for me, after all he have disposition for sacrifice himself for Kaine And End E made me cry in hapiness, one of the most beautiful things i ever seen in a game I saw some people in the coments saying "is sad because after that they will die", but in real life that's how it works right? We all gonna die at some point, that doesn't mean that will be no hapiness
You end the entire human race, and fight individuals with the same struggles as you. How is that not depressive ? Besides, true redemption, lies in ending C.

We just kill Kaine and that's it, we have the kiss scene but, we kill her anyways In ending D we at least sacrifices ourselves to save her

They didn't bother to ask, and she didn't bother to explain. She wanted people as broken as her to remain by her side, so she never revealed anything. She was going to leave Yonah and Nier, because she knew he would no longer be broken. Also, Nier received documents. He clearly just didn't bother to read them. The documents explained everything.

The replicant MC truly got one of the worst endings in the Drakengard series. Devola, Popola, Emil, Kaine, Weiss, and even Yonah. All of his family die due to his actions. Yonah only has a month or so left to live after the ending according to Yoko Taro...
Am I the only one who's started imagining the "RW" gang of "Omori" facing Devola and Popola as a secret boss battle ? Just me ? Well, anyway, they Sunny's love, and a twisted sense of duty of why even telling after telling the truth, he and Basil should cross into the next world together. The one just beyond that light.
It's sad to see how we're playing the villain in this story. Devola and Popola were pretty much trying to help restore humanity but it failed because they needed grimoire Weiss to combine with Noir but Replicant nier was arrogant
The whole point of the story is that it's a view of perspective. Nier was fighting for his Yonah just as much as Shadowlord was fighting for his. Like the replicants fight because despite their lack of a "soul", they have a life, a culture, they feel pain, they have just as much as a right to fight for their own existence in the face of something that would deny their existence...which unfortunately means the path for human extinction because their very existence is inherently temporary as they're only meant to be placeholders to begin with. Nier is an inherently tragic game, especially given what happens in Ending D which was the original end for the game.
@@bmac4 To be honest, humanity was doomed the exact second the Queen Beast fell in Tokyo. There's just nothing that realistically could've been done to prevent extinction after the White Chlorination Syndrome and when they started separating souls from bodies that was the final nail in the coffin.

In the game ending Yonha called him to stop doing this and His subtitles were different cause he (as a gestalt) do not speak the same language like others. The way of communication was Noir ( and Noir was created in the experiment with a person's soul ( was not a really good person just like tyrann). Noir referred his shadowlord. Noir acted like a evil boss. He is also a faulty.
I came to listen to the music because I heard it was good in the Nier games, figured eh it's probably not gonna have too much spoilers in the gameplay that goes with the song. Started my replicant playthrough and realized whoa major spoilers with the twins. Then I made the mistake of looking at the comments. That was a huge mistake.

I loved that moment in Nier Automata looking back on it. I actually played Nier Automata before Nier/Nier Replicant so I didn't understand the lore at the time, but now that I do I have a higher appreciation for what took place in Automata. The game was lend to me by a friend. Ended up buying Automata not too long after because of how much I loved the game. It had such an emotional impact on me and definitely one I'll never forget.

@@nuadacube I had played Automata before Replicant as well but I gotta say, as soon as I recognized the library I got pretty surprised and when I realized it I went back to Automata to look at the library in the tower, it's a matching replica but the trophies are switched to the enemies in Automata, that's like the only difference I saw aside from the whole place being white instead of being in color. I actually bought NeiR Replicant as soon as I saw it was like 40% off because of me playing Automata, these games are truely amazing and I'm waiting for when I can get the original NeiR so I can play it as well

One of the few boss battles that made me cry in the middle of it. Here Nier is killing the two closest people he saw as family outside of his sister, kaine, emil and weiss.
I saw this live in chicago at the orchestra this year and cried all over again. It was an amazing experience.

Both games are so beautiful even though I like the mechanics and evading better in automata just hearing this in NeiR replicant made my day when I 1st started playing this I was so happy that they actually used this song in the main village
these 2 sisters are so pretty in this replicant , hopefully there is their orignal human form
I don't know if they had original human forms. From what I know they were designed by some scientists to carry out the creation of the replicants and ensure that the shades were properly merged with the bodies to become fully human again.

Getting to that final battle with Devola and Popola, not the little scuffle you have the actual fight, I could already feel as if everything was so god danm wrong. I knew the game had more endings but I was already dreading what was coming up, the music really adds to it.

I finished Replicant last week and still unable to play other game, the game just feld very special to me, and i didn't found so depressive like everyone says
The story is full of virtue, of love and friendship
End D seems like a "redemption" for the protagonist for me, after all he have disposition for sacrifice himself for Kaine
And End E made me cry in hapiness, one of the most beautiful things i ever seen in a game
I saw some people in the coments saying "is sad because after that they will die", but in real life that's how it works right? We all gonna die at some point, that doesn't mean that will be no hapiness
You end the entire human race, and fight individuals with the same struggles as you. How is that not depressive ?

@@JabamiLain oh, the part of destroying the humanity is pretty bad, I was not engaged in the lore and didn't realize this when I finished the game, but how we would know that killing the Shadowlord would doom humankind? I mean, Devola And Popola just said that the shades are humans, they didn't mention we would destroy humanity killing the Shadowlord
Also, how ending C was redemption? We just kill Kaine and that's it, we have the kiss scene but, we kill her anyways
In ending D we at least sacrifices ourselves to save her
@@lukaweiss9147 it's exactly by killing her that you redeem yourself. She makes random comments through out the gameplay that later are revealed to actually be her responses to the words of Shades. They didn't bother to ask, and she didn't bother to explain. She wanted people as broken as her to remain by her side, so she never revealed anything. She was going to leave Yonah and Nier, because she knew he would no longer be broken.
Also, Nier received documents. He clearly just didn't bother to read them. The documents explained everything.

The replicant MC truly got one of the worst endings in the Drakengard series.
Devola, Popola, Emil, Kaine, Weiss, and even Yonah. All of his family die due to his actions.
Yonah only has a month or so left to live after the ending according to Yoko Taro...
Would be dope to have this playing as background to this fight, but then switch to a sad lonely version once Devola kicks the bucket.

i've played the remake of nier replicant before nier automata, so didn't know anything about devola and popola, after this scene, i was devastated

Well, anyway, they Sunny's love, and a twisted sense of duty of why even telling after telling the truth, he and Basil should cross into the next world together. The one just beyond that light.
It's sad to see how we're playing the villain in this story. Devola and Popola were pretty much trying to help restore humanity but it failed because they needed grimoire Weiss to combine with Noir but Replicant nier was arrogant
The whole point of the story is that it's a view of perspective. Nier was fighting for his Yonah just as much as Shadowlord was fighting for his. Like the replicants fight because despite their lack of a "soul", they have a life, a culture, they feel pain, they have just as much as a right to fight for their own existence in the face of something that would deny their existence...which unfortunately means the path for human extinction because their very existence is inherently temporary as they're only meant to be placeholders to begin with. Nier is an inherently tragic game, especially given what happens in Ending D which was the original end for the game.
@@bmac4 To be honest, humanity was doomed the exact second the Queen Beast fell in Tokyo. There's just nothing that realistically could've been done to prevent extinction after the White Chlorination Syndrome and when they started separating souls from bodies that was the final nail in the coffin.

In the game ending Yonha called him to stop doing this and His subtitles were different cause he (as a gestalt) do not speak the same language like others. The way of communication was Noir ( and Noir was created in the experiment with a person's soul ( was not a really good person just like tyrann). Noir referred his shadowlord. Noir acted like a evil boss. He is also a faulty.

I came to listen to the music because I heard it was good in the Nier games, figured eh it's probably not gonna have too much spoilers in the gameplay that goes with the song. Started my replicant playthrough and realized whoa major spoilers with the twins. Then I made the mistake of looking at the comments. That was a huge mistake.

@@nuadacube While i DAMN HATE the fact you have to kill two, probably, most innocent characters of the entire DoD/NieR franchise, I find this video hilariously comic as it is focused on a dancing girl while the dramatic fight is going on somewhere offscreen :D One of the most underrated music vids!
