    The Eli Zero only goes up to 25 mph. That's just not enough in the US, where cars often go much faster than that even on residential streets. And forget about the main streets with their 40-45 mph limits. The Nimbus seems to be much more usable, if they can actually deliver the vehicle.

    I'm glad someone mentioned etrikes but they aren't new and the one mentioned isn't particularly innovative. I'm surprised they haven't been more widely adopted since they generally have more storage space than bikes, don't require balance, and in most places are legally the same as ebikes meaning they can be brought anywhere. Also like ebikes they don't require exercise if they are type 2 and unlike electric cars are generally designed to fit indoors so you don't need a garage to charge it.

    So what's the difference between an eMoped and an ebike? Because that Aspadz Cavet has pedals like a ebike but it's called an eMoped? The Zebra ZX2 looks like a moped, but it's called an ebike? I'm so confused.

    • @RRW359
      @RRW359 3 года назад +1

      Legal. It depends on where you live, but in general this is the difference in most US states:
      Ebike:
      -Can't be over 750 watts.
      -Can't go over 20mph/32kph under power.
      -Pedals are required even if they aren't required for use.
      -In most states considered bikes unless the law specifies otherwise. This means you may not need a helmet (and if you do only a bike helmet is required), you don't need a license/registration/insurance, and it can go most places a bike can.
      moped/emoped:
      -Can be up to a couple kilowatts (also is allowed to have an ICE if it's under 50cc).
      -Can't go over 30mph/48kph.
      -Can have pedals but not legally required to have them (although they may be able to access bike paths or other routes if it's being pedaled). Many states require a motorcycle-rated helmet, and you usually need a license/registration/insurance (although even if your region requires special qualifications for motorcycles it may only require a driver's license for mopeds and the registration process may be less involved than a car/motorcycle).
      I should also mention that the laws may be different in Washington, but in Oregon and I believe California the ZX2 is not only a moped but if it really can go over 32mph it's a Motorcycle and requires the same qualifications as one to ride.

    Just don't confuse electric vehicles with renewable energy if the vehicles are charged with power from the grid...grid power is mostly a fossil fuel product

    • @davidbuckwitz5408
      @davidbuckwitz5408 3 года назад +1

      Over 50 percent of the electric on our nations grid is produced with coal! The greenies will have a fit over that!

    • @mjones9639
      @mjones9639 3 года назад

      Around 60% of power produced in USA is from fossil fuels. That is around 40% less than any vehicle with an internal combustion engine.

    • @RRW359
      @RRW359 3 года назад +1

      If you buy a vehicle with an ICE it will never be renewable (unless you have a diesel but most States are weird when it comes to the legality of SVO's, plus newer engines don't like them as well as older ones). If you buy an electric vehicle it is true that it does pollute at the moment, but it will be turned renewable over time without modification if we keep trying to make the grid greener.

    Only the trike so far is of interest, but the price is ridiculous.

    • @RRW359
      @RRW359 3 года назад +1

      There are much cheaper options. Unfortunately premade etrikes are are around that price, but if you get a regular trike and a front-wheel ebike kit it will be around $1000 with the battery included if everything is new.

    • @Friedbrain11
      @Friedbrain11 3 года назад +1

      @@RRW359 I did that but the battery alone that i need would be $400. That is why I am working on making my own lion battery pack for about 150 total :)The trike I got is a Schwinn, but at least it works(for now LOL)
      My total cost is a bit higher than 1k though as I am adding extra wire to extend the battery and electronics to the rear. Instead of a 48V battery, I am using a 12v battery with a 48V converter to supply the juice. So i will be about 1,2k total as I replaced the front fork with a better unit and other stuff(lights, bell, speedo). All in all, i know that it works and how it was made :)

    • @RRW359
      @RRW359 3 года назад +1

      @@Friedbrain11 Maybe they've increased in price but I got a Meridian from Target for about $350 and a kit/battery from Amazon for about $350. Including the battery was another $300.

    • @Friedbrain11
      @Friedbrain11 3 года назад +1

      @@RRW359 Yeah I got the Meridian too LOL...front motor kit was $290 and the battery I needed was for 48V (1k watt motor). So went the route of agm battery with converter. The new fork($110) I had to get because the trike bent the original one heheheh The converter was $190 and all the wires needed extended( another $40) to the basket in the back, because I had no mounting options for the front at the time. Still don't and the electrics( i call the battery and electroincs parts the "electrics") will stay in the back. Better balance that way also. A 48V battery for 48v 1k motor is still over $350 that can handle the surge amperage needed. Anyway, I am happy enough and when I get the Lion battery pack done it will be lighter and more powerful. I need at least a 3 hour run time and it will go that long so it will be good to go:) Ride safe :)

    • @RRW359
      @RRW359 3 года назад +2

      @@Friedbrain11 Not to alarm you but that may be too high a wattage for your motor. Different places have different rules for what counts as an ebike/etrike but most US states only allow up to 750 watts before they classify them as mopeds, which are more limited as to where they can go and likely require a driver's license.

    A dude in 188what made a 6 passenger electric car that went 20mph and 140 whatever years later they're doing about the same but for only one or two passengers basically. Oh and he had nothing to compare his design to because he was the first...he probably had something to go off of but still it makes me wonder where we'd be today if the Rockefeller's hadn't pushed that german dude Herr Diesel over board on his trip to attend some World's Fair or whatever back when ever it was around the time when cars were taking off. He designed his engine not run on diesel fuel that we use today and going back until they smoked this smart nice guy. He actually built the diesel motor to run on bio fuel which I'm told means it can run on old Mickey D's french frie oil which they throw away..they might even have to pay to throw it away but either way I 'm told he went missing aT SEA WHILE CROSSING THE ATLANTIC. opps hit the cap locks I think that means something some people trip on it for whatever reason. They are stable if you mind isn't polluted from riding a bike. If you go straight from a car/walking to a trike you will be fine. Also for now they are legal and often recommended for seniors so there's no harm in recommending them. Plus they recommended two eskateboards and I've heard even experienced skateboarders say if you don't know what you are doing they will kill you.

They will tip when the centrifugal force exceeds the gravity component based on cg and speed. At this point you're at the point of no return. You don't ride up onto two of it wheels in a controlled manner and recover. You 'high side' tip over. To late to counter steer. This point is very hard to anticipate. Recumbent trikes have a lower cg and less prone. Tadpole designs will usually skid out before tipping. To each his own.
