  • Chic, currently called Nile Rodgers & Chic, is an American band that was formed during 1976 by guitarist Nile Rodgers and bassist Bernard Edwards. It recorded many commercially successful disco songs, including "Dance, Dance, Dance (Yowsah, Yowsah, Yowsah)" (1977), "Everybody Dance" (1977), "Le Freak" (1978), "I Want Your Love" (1978), "Good Times" (1979), and "My Forbidden Lover" (1979). The group regarded themselves as a rock band for the disco movement "that made good on hippie peace, love and freedom". In 2017, Chic was nominated for induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame for the eleventh time.
This Toppop recording was first broadcast on 11 January 1979.

My God, he died! RIP as well as Tony Thompson who of course would be part of the Power Station. It's hard to believe they are still not in the Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame. They put the Bee Gees in before "them". In the Mid 2000's the UK Girlband Girls Aloud did their homage to Chic by singing this song. Isn't it amazing they wrote this song after being rejected an entrance into Studio 54 as guests of Grace Jones. They mentioned The Savoy and has hard as they tried it couldn't hold a candle to Studio 54.

1977, eu tinha 8 anos no Jardim Brasil SP. Chic, KC, Bee Gees, a turma toda.

Nile Rogers & Bernard Edwards took a negative and turned it into a positive. They weren't allowed into Studio 54 in New York although they were guests of Grace Jones. It was their way of saying F@ck Off. Later Bernard and Nile became Icons working with everyone from Sister Sledge, Diana Ross, Madonna, David Bowie (RIP). They also helped usher in The First Rap Record when the Melody of Good Times was used on Rapper's Delight. In The US Nile Rogers is Old School but in the UK, he is a legend. He worked with Duran Duran, and We Are Family was an Audition Song on Popstars 2002 and Girls Aloud Sang Le Freak at Wembley and they weren't even born yet.
