Non league clubs are amazing and I love finding gems like Maine Road FC tucked away between the big clubs like this. I encourage all of you, if you can make it to your local teams games, give it a go.

You didn't get a free drink & programme, it was included in the price you paid to see Manchester City play the other evening. The original Maine Road also played host to concerts such as; David Bowie and hometown heroes Oasis. It's good what supporters clubs are doing these days, it brings communities together.
It is interesting how fans of big clubs in England start new, smaller clubs similar to the original ones for various reasons. Here in the Czech Republic, it works differently in a way. Here were enthusiasts who supported the biggest teams in the Czech Republic, Sparta or Slavia, and decided to found a club in their city and name it after their favorite club from Prague. So just for example, Sparta Prague fans in a small town called Úpice founded a football club and sent a request to Sparta Prague if their club could be called Sparta Úpice. If Sparta Praha complied with such a request, the club was named after her and thus the Sparta Úpice club still exists today. And all over the Czech Republic, there are a lot of clubs from smaller towns with the name Sparta or Slavia, because they got permission to use that name from big clubs in Prague.
@@niismo. yes Úpice is 20 km away from where I live. And yes Sparta Úpice was founded in 1919. And later they ask Sparta Prague for approval to use name Sparta. Sparta Prague was founded in 1893, so along side their rivals from Slavia Prague they are one of the oldest clubs in Europe. If you don’t count English and Scottish clubs which for obvious reasons were founded sooner.
@the Game, Review and Reallife Channel It may seem weird but small clubs all over the Czech Republic want take name of bigger clubs. Sometimes founders of this smaller clubs were supporters of Sparta or Slavia so they want the same name for their hometown football club.
hello from brazil, nice job man, for me so far away knowing new stuff, new clubs, new stadiums, the city, everything is so great, thank you and keep going ^_^
The street called Maine Road got its name from the American state of Maine. Temperance advocates from Manchester gave it that name because Maine once outlawed alchoholic beverages well before the national Prohibition of the 1920's.
Greetings from Norway, was fantastic to see the video! Bought myself a Maine Road shirt last year. Next time I travel to the UK, watching a Maine Road game is on my list!
Nice to see the sun shining at "The Stade" in Brantingham Road. Grassroots non league footie. The backbone of the game. Builds friendships and supports communities up and down these islands. Great video. Well done for highlighting MRFC. I would say that. I support them. Cheers Mucker.
Love your vlogs , I think if your doing non league clubs , you should do one from Ashton under Lyne. They have two non league teams in the small East Manchester town . One is Curzon Ashton , the other is Ashton United . There's plenty of famous professional players from Ashton , including World Cup winners Geoff Hurst (England 1966), Jimmy Armfield, Simone Perrotta ( won with Italy 2006) , Mark Robins (man united) , Trevor Ross ( Arsenal & Everton ) . Rob Holden (Arsenal) .
It's also only about 15 minutes drive from the Etihad Stadium . There's statues outside of Curzon Ashtons ground of the 3 world Cup winners from the town . A great story about Simone Perrotta was he was born and brought up in the town (his mum & Dad ran the local pub Yatess wine Lodge, he had trials at local clubs but nothing materialised, before going to Italy and got signed up by Roma , then played centre midfield for Italy in the 2006 world Cup final . You could say he's the latest English born player to win the world Cup..
There’s a town near Wigan called Ashton in Makerfield which is where I’m from. There’s actually two football teams there. Ashton Town & Ashton Athletic. I have friends who follow both teams, in fact, I have a friend who is chairman of Ashton Athletic
great video. I know Dave too! That was a surprise! Very good fella. You should check out Maine Rds local rivals at West Didsbury and Chorlton. They're quite a "punk rock" club. I'd also recommend Hyde United too. but there's so many good clubs and grounds around Manchester area! Love some of the NWCFL
Really interesting Video mate. I didn't realise that Maine Road FC went back as far as 1955. I always thought that it was early to mid '60s. Love your videos, keep up the great work.
City and a Maine Road fan from Singapore here. Planned to visit Maine Road FC back in 2017 for a game but game got cancelled so had to miss watching non-league football. :( Hopefully in the future I will be able to complete the wish of watching the Road play at home! Love seeing the stadium tour! Keep it up bro!
I grew up watching Atherton LR and have been to Maine Road a few times. I live in Devon now, but still check on LR and ironically MRFC. You should check out the three Atherton Clubs and Daisy Hill FC. You’ll get all 4 in in a couple or 3 hours.
Footy Adventures one day could you please go to Carlisle? I would like you to show us the distance from Carlisle United's home ground to Carlisle City's home ground, then visit Carlisle City FC. i liked this video.
Erm i had a season ticket at Maine rd for many years I'm not old school lol...great video, youve done the Etihad, Oldham now here recently im slap bang in middle of all of them would of give you a propa tour of the football history in these parts...next time maybe
I hate seeing the old grounds and what's happened Seeing where Upton Park was breaks my heart all the time seeing the flats buil up on it,I would love to go round and visit all the old stadiums that have been knocked down or abandoned.
top job, ive watched them there in a cup game, handful of lads i knew played there once, good quality football, its a few levels above amatuer sunday league for sure.

Why not visit Meadowbank, home of Shortwood United, the other club in Nailsworth...the Gloucestershire town that is home to Forest Green Rovers, who are probably the smallest club ever to have played in the the Football League. It is believed that the entire population of the town could fit inside their two football grounds, with room to spare. Just under ten years ago they reached the First Round of the FA Cup and their home game against Port Vale was broadcast live on TV. Shortwood currently play in the Hellenic League, roughly the same level as Maine Road FC, but their ground ranks amongst one of the most picturesque I have ever visited and the welcome amongst the friendliest.
Shamrock rovers have a supporters club out in Walkinstown called Glenmalure Rovers. Formed by some rovers fans back in 2020 iirc and compete in the United Churches Football League. Have been promoted on the rovers socials a couple of times since they were founded
id like to see you visit north ferriby one day. similar level, small village (although technically a different club due to liquidation a few years back) and still managed, by some miracle beat wrexham in the final at wembley to win the FA trophy and reach the football conference.
Why was it set up, what was it protesting? Maine Road FC was just a bunch of City fans who wanted their own non league side in the 50s, there wasn’t a protest involved and I don’t think most City fans know they exist.
@@tomben6180 the club was founded due to the rising ticket prices, commercialisation and corruption that was rampant throughout the club after the sale to hicks and Gillette. Nice little ground that from arsenal fan non league football is the place to go and watch football supporting local small football clubs and community I'd happily go to a non league games
@Harry Hutchison You're quite right pal it was the Platt Lane stand before it was demolished in 1992. Those benches did have back rests though. The new stand was originally called The Umbro Stand, opened in '93 v Spurs in FA Cup. It later reverted to being named "The Platt Lane Stand"
Basford united or hucknall town would be good ones. Hucknall was in the conference and got to the fa trophy final. They gone to the county leagues now due to financial reasons. Bedford is a good one due to the facilities and their raise
honestly, go check out South Shields FC. 2.5k to a home game, Kevin Phillips managing with Julio Arca having come out of retirement a few years back to play again (since retired again) and some serious squad and stadium development along the way.
