Good to know…I am starting to wonder if some Petco stores are an anomaly, while others are just bad. Maybe it depends on which person is taking care of the fish, but it sounds like more and more people are generally not writing off the big box stores anymore. I was shocked to see the livestock they had, but it’s been a few years. It’s nice to hop over there every now and again with it being so close to home. Traditional LFS are becoming more rare it seems, everything is online - at least in my area.
Yea, they were a little all over the place. There were a couple fish priced very well - at least that would be hard to order online with shipping costs and beat it. What online vendors do you use the most? I am looking for suggestions. I have always used liveaquaria and saltwaterfish.com...curious if you have any other recommendations?
I was at my local Petco recently when they just received an order. All the bags were from ORA interesting enouigh. Don't know if its a store or corporate level decision. Good to know all aquacultured probably the best fish in the trade now for sure.

@@zburnreefing So I have been "dealing" with Management to call me to let me know that they have received the shipments and that is the only problem IME . I don't have any concerns besides the few times whenever I have been waiting for the call and then it's better to just go to the store and see what is going on with the fish......sorry , we've been busy or something that you have been blown off before I assume....So then I see the bags of fish , bring the invoice to the register and just a bit of a preventative to the shoplifting..... I am then back to show the receipt and not even 5 minutes before I get to the car. Best way IME , but I don't even know what is the actual policy for using PETCO as the middle man . Hopefully you will get the opportunity to get which is best for you and end of the day that is what I have been enjoying being in & out quickly as I have never had any cancellations or lost packages and I will avoid picking up from the airport
To be honest, I was very surprised to see what I did. I’m curious the turnover and will watch to see how much marine fish leave the store. Who is buying these fish?? 10-15 years ago a few big box stores maybe had a clown or two at best. Maybe this particular store is an anomaly.
I’m still on the hunt for one. Did you pick yours up online? If you don’t mind sharing, which vendor? Seems to be a fish that is harder to find as of late.
@@zburnreefing I actually have got all my fish at the local Petco (we don't have much in the way of options up in 83814 North Idaho). The Mystery wrasse is my (affordable) dream fish so imagine my surprise after almost 11-months when they finally had one. His markings and color are great and he's doing really well. They got another one in a couple of weeks later too (I think he's still there). Regular price was only $89. Then add the current marine discount AND my vital care 20% off and I ended up paying $51. I still can't believe it, lol. Hope you find one!!!
This is actually my original plan for a 3rd fish. Good algae control and I like the magnificent variation that is a little more white. I may just go this route next.

I have a very very dense sps dominated “nano” tank Red Sea Reefer 170 and know I will outgrow it in a couple years time. So watching tank builds like yours is awesome. 3 of my healthiest fish came from Petco. I'm a rare fan of the lemon peel, I'd get that one if I came across it for that price.

Out of that selection I’d go with the sailfin. You should really look into setting up like a 20 gallon qt tank too

Ayyyy! Draper Petco! We love their set-up. Other Petco’s… not so much.

Draper petco is decent. It's much better than the Midvale location.
Good to know, I was thinking of checking out other nearby Petcos. Sounds like I better skip Midvale location.

I'd go for the powder brown, and qt it. It's only an inch magnet if you let ich into your tank. Qt all fish and you'll never have ich.
That fish choice and strategy the best and smartest option for sure.
