There's a bit Bill bailey does about how British people are genetically pessimistic if you ask an Australian how they are the answer is likely going to be something along the lines of "awesome" whereas a Brit will say "could be worse" "mustn't grumble" or "not too bad"
nahh... i only ever say 'alright to people i know... its only a form of acknowledgement not a question.....OMG i confront anyone who jumps the queue....I'm that old woman who makes sure everyone hears me complain............when you did the Weehhhyyy!... i love it even you doing it make me smile, school humour.......its mainly women who put the x in the text...I do it.......

The X at the end of a text has two functions, X is usually a term of endearment, or like me and my wife, we always in with 5 X's when you get 5 X's all is good. If she ends her text with 2 X's, usually means im in trouble i have done something wrong, if there are no X's, im sleeping on the couch lol
with queues in shops i always check people behind because i usually have a basket with a few items. if i see someone right behind with one or no items, i ask if thats all they are getting then invite them to go ahead, since i have time to wait. i see that sometimes too. less often these days sadly.

The 'whay-hay' when dropping a glass is a way for the patrons to take away the embarrassment for that person and to turn it into a game. 'Ta' is very much localised. Talking about the weather dates to farming and the changeable nature. Not going to comment on all the rest but the stereotypes about us..? All have things running through them... fairness, politeness, stoicism, a wish not to offend or impose, etc. Without wishing to get too political, want to explain a lot of the violence in the country right now? That social contract having been stretched to absolute breaking point.
As a Brit, having lived and worked in the US and Russia - there are lots of similarities in culture and attitudes between Americans and Russians. 1. The 'exceptionalism' - the idea that 'we're better than everyone else, everyone else wants to be us' (how wrong could you be?). 2. The 'if it's bigger, it must be better' attititude. 3. The propaganda and brainwashing. Neither country is run for the benefit of its citizens, they're just expected to be a market/workforce/cannon fodder. 4. The levels of poverty.
I can tell you live in the south when you think summer can be 17 to 23 degrees ,Scotland is o to 10 degrees . 23 degrees in Scotland is a heat wave.

When I was a barman I always knew who was next at a busy bar and I ignored the chancers who tried to "push in".

It is expected to be Americans more like Russians, yet it looks like Russians are rather British in every highlighted topick.
