So why is this guy still allowed to ref? He's proven he clearly can't do a good enough job at keeping games in check and preventing injuries to the assets (players) that allow the NHL to keep making money by icing a good product. First thing, thank god Benning's gone. I don't even know how much of this team's problems are because of him instead of the owner, but there would be no progress made until he was fired. Second, excellent summation of the Patrice O'Neal punk test. I was kind of waiting for Steve to forget something or remember something wrong and have to go back, but nope. Very nice. Also, funfact: that Loui Eriksson own goal was his first goal as a Vancouver Canuck. That's how we ushered in the Age of Loui, and it couldn't have been more appropriate.
Well it would be pretty stupid to drop the gloves and mash those golden hands into a helmet. But he certainly could/should engage in face washing and wrestling instead of immitating a rag doll.
One of the 32 teams needs to win the Stanley Cup. Love to see the right team win it and Ref's are part of this happing and need to call the game right. Every call.
For as bad as things are in Vancouver, they still have been to the finals 3 times in the last 40 years. Hopefully the gm hire is a good decision and not just another retread perpetuating mediocrity.
Adam is absolutely right about the jersey throwing. Be glad the fans are that passionate and don't just decide not to care. Then you're really in trouble as a team owner or sports media person.
Wanted to expand on what Steve said about Angel Hernandez being terrible. He sued MLB for discrimination because he wasn't getting World Series games and was passed over for promotion to crew chief. The MLB's defense boiled down to "This isn't discrimination, he's just really bad at his job." Judge looked the evidence, agreed, and threw the case out. If you're Angle Hernandez, how do you ever go back to work for that company again?
16:00 You guys are wrong here. This team is playing way below their talent level. THG did a video and talked about the past ten games and how many of the top players on the Canucks are really struggling offensively. They've given up on the coach.
Benning trading a bunch of bad contracts that were going to expire in one year for a bad contract set to run for another six years may be the single-worst move by a GM last off-season.
Eh, I don't know. Chicago sending a quality up and coming offensive defenseman, a first round pick, and someone else (I forget already), for Jones, a good offensive defenseman, then signing him to a huge deal was worse.
Hey, boys, love your channel! Here is an idea: find a former referee who can do 15-30 minutes segment commenting questionable calls. Kind of “dang it”, weekly segment. I’m sure it will get some attention from NHL executives
The year the Blues won the cup, they got clowned by the Jets as well, in the form of 5 goals by Patrick Laine. That was the moment the BLues became warriors.
PLD not getting back on the ice reminds me of something that like....Ulf Samuelsson would do. How many times did he do some cheap crap and then refused to drop gloves and settle it? TONS. He kept getting away with it too until Tie Domi caved his face in with a sucker punch because it was the only way to get at him.
Game 2 2019 I remember the Pasternak jumping hit on Muzzin that you could see the blood from the visor cut. I remember that mutant Chara punching players in the scrums, glove on punch in the face. The Bruins ran at the Leafs all game, full on charging/boarding calls, that didn't get called. It was the worst reffed game that year. And to top it all off, the GUTLESS NHL suspended Kadri for "the rest of the series". Never have I heard of a player being suspended for an unlimited number of games. Worthy of a suspension, but give it a number you gutless cowards! Just say 5 games if you don't want him to play another game against the Bruins. You don't suspend a guy for "the rest of the series"!
Are we not going to enjoy when our Leafs finally become "unhinged" instead of being complete pushovers? Or are we going to be nitpicky about how they stand up for themselves?
Aren't jerseys on the ice the fan's way of telling management to respect the crest? Aren't they telling management that the team has lost their respect?
I like Steve's comment about the chain link fence he saw at the soccer game in Europe. I went to a game in Argentina at a stadium in Buenos Aires (Estadio Presidente Perón) and they had hundreds of heavily armed police officers with sawed off shotguns, assault rifles and full riot gear keeping an eye on things... it was pretty scary actually.

OEL has been great this year, the one thing you guys need to know but everything else was pretty much right.
He might be great, unsure haven't seen any games of Canucks yet. But is he worth the contract ( money and length) vrs the cap space of next year if he is not traded.
He's been decent this year. The problem is he is signed to make a cap hit of 8.25 MIL until 2027!
@@eixonm OEL and Myers were a top ten defensive pairing in the NHL analytically even with the Canucks being garbage. He has one hundred percent worth his contract right now.
@@phreak811 Arizona is retaining 1.2 million or something like that of that so not quite that much. Still high, but he has been worth it so far.
@@lastresort3188 Dude I am glad your team is doing well but 5 points in 27 games is not worth 7 mil against the cap. I get that he's a Blue Liner but that's still not 7 Mil worth of production. If he had 10 points in 27 games I'd be more inclined to think it was worth it but he's not even a Right Handed shot! So....at age 30 with a BUNCH of years left on that contract....I'd say yall are going to regret it. Now....I do look forward to being wrong but I don't think I will be.
The salt floweth so strong....makes me think of the Bruined episode of yesteryear.
I can't wait for Matthews to drop the gloves one of these times.
He won't, its just not in him. I dont blame him, he did have surgery. Media doesn't care unfortunately
Well it would be pretty stupid to drop the gloves and mash those golden hands into a helmet. But he certainly could/should engage in face washing and wrestling instead of immitating a rag doll.
Maybe just a bit tougher would be good.
March 31st. Kyle Clifford, Rich Clune, Kurtis Gabriel, on the bench, and be instructed to destroy.
Yes! They also have a named named Curtis Douglas who is 6'-8"!!
The referees should have to answer media questions the same way that players, coaches, and mangers do.
The stadium erupted from jets and leafs fans when buff came on the screen
Vancouver has a pretty good team though. Check how Boudreau made the Capitals do a 180 when he got there.
For reference, Toffoli last year had 8 goals & 5 assists against the Canucks.
I love how we live rent free in Leafs fans heads now haha
One of the 32 teams needs to win the Stanley Cup. Love to see the right team win it and Ref's are part of this happing and need to call the game right. Every call.
For as bad as things are in Vancouver, they still have been to the finals 3 times in the last 40 years. Hopefully the gm hire is a good decision and not just another retread perpetuating mediocrity.
3 times in 40 with no wins isn't good.. only a leafs fan would use that limp benchmark as something impressive
Adam is absolutely right about the jersey throwing. Be glad the fans are that passionate and don't just decide not to care. Then you're really in trouble as a team owner or sports media person.
SD is extra fired up!!!! 🔥
If the NHL owned a restaurant, they would serve Mexican food and it would be called “Escupimos en su comida”
"What's better than beating the leafs?" Comparing the win/loss record of both teams recently, I'd be pumped to win too
Wanted to expand on what Steve said about Angel Hernandez being terrible.
So... it took you five minutes from arguing this wasn't Travis Green's fault to complaining about coaching decisions.
Also, traffic tickets depend on the law enforcer's mood. If I cry enough, my charge is instantly reduced (based on a wrong left turn 35 years ago).
Pionks kneeing didnt look intentional
Two game suspension appears to disagree. Should have been more.
Intention is irrelevant. He's responsible for the results of his actions. watch the video from DOPS
I disagree immensely. He clearly angled to make contact after Sandin dodged.
Baby move? All keefe was rolling was his goons all 3rd lmao
Nobody:
Steve: JUST PUT THE BALL IN THE HOLE!
Jim Benning was really out there just handing out deals.
Maybe refs should be called to player safety and suspended instead
“I’m wearing a purple shirt, seriously look it up.”
That was great spezza stood up for his teammate pionk absolutely earned that refs should’ve thrown him from the game
Not even a sabres fan, just waiting for one of their fans to throw a jersey to see if the trend continues
Look up "The Revolution with Jim and Trav", you imagined an existing show
PLD not getting back on the ice reminds me of something that like....Ulf Samuelsson would do. How many times did he do some cheap crap and then refused to drop gloves and settle it? TONS. He kept getting away with it too until Tie Domi caved his face in with a sucker punch because it was the only way to get at him.
Sorry guys but Bergevin was already fired when the jersey was thrown on the ice and the Habs have 24 cups
Talk about irony that this was in my recommended videos right now...
LOL its so funny that these clowns only get riled up about the refs when The Laughs get the short end.....
Exactly right, it's like flying a flag upside down.
Genuinely surprised that Steve is a Patrice O’Neal fan, respect just went up a little bit lol
Um Steve of course everyone, especially canadian teams loves beating the leafs, TSN and sportsnet treats them like they are gods and the greatest thing to happen to Canada
Their not gods, the team just generates revenue with every story made about them. That's all.
