I think a tracking sheet combined with reviewing past WBs. I went through the ccu games price history of ships working back from my target ship and plotted out the jumps on a Google sheet. This way I knew which WB offers to skip and which ones to buy.
Amazing explanation. This one covers everything missing plus extra information that help a lot from your original CCU video. You hit it out of the park with this one. I wish I had known some of this information when I started CCUing.
Some people call the CCU system "predatory". But that's an overly cynical view. It's really a blessing or a reward to long term backers. This is a way for long term supporters to lock in good prices for ships that we are likely to want in the future. If you know you are a fan of the end vision for this game, then you can save a huge amount of money in the end.
So I need an excel sheet to figure this out.😂 I bought a Carrack to Perseus CCU and the Prowler to 600i CCU... So it's something to start with. I got the Reclaimer down to my cost of $280 (with LTI) from $400 not the words best by all means but decent savings. My biggest problem is I want to see the damn ship icon in my hanger not the stupid pulse bike 😂
Always make sure that CCUs with a ship that will increase in value is the one you are upgrading to. Doing a TAC to a Gemini will be upside down when the TAC releases at a higher price.
I find it much easier to just use ccugame instead of a spreadsheet, but effectively it does the same thing. One big tip I missed early on was that on the Upgrade page on the CIG website is to notice it defaults to a view of ships in your hangar, but you don't need to only see that, you can change the little circle next to it for All Ships so you can get warbonds and the like all for ships you don't even own yet. You get gaps, but that's fine, you don't need to have the upgrade all in place from the lowest ship you own all the way to what you want to get. Also what about the end of the chain? Some of this has to do with speculation, especially for ships that have limited time scales (only available at IAE or Invictus, for example). Is it worth it to just get some, let's say no warbond is available, closest upgrade to the ship you want just to try to lock in that price since they often just go up?
Without CCUs, my fleet would be nowhere near what it is today. Spending $5-10 per month, and $20-30 on CCUs during events, and $30-50 when a new ship comes out is comparable to any other MMO I play. But I never would have dropped $200+ at once. Which is most of my ships today.
good chains take a lot of time. Also my best savings come from price increases an not WB CCUs, but it not that easy to predict those and you have to follow the development closely for hints. Problem is that it is addictive ;-)
My issue has always been that I have none of my CCUs applied and therefore can’t play with any of the new ships to determine if I want them. No one around the verse to share a ride either.
I think I'll teach the old school way and when people find the CCUgame app tool they can use that as well. I dont want that to be the crutch people start on until they understand the game.
this is the real star citizen gameplay, i feel i spend more time doing ccu chains then actually playing these days XD
I think what we really need is a guide on how to plan a ccu chain ahead of time
Explain in more detail!

That's a good way to think about it. Maybe I'll just do a whole video on CCU game app.
Thanks for putting this up after IAE!
It was actually your CCU guides that got me thinking about the possibility of doing chains!

This game is crazy as it is! Thank you for the guides!
Comprehensive and just what I needed thanks!
Thanks for the Vids, i started investing in CCUs again after about 4 years
This was really needed. Not a lot of good CCU guides around, especially advanced ones that actually show spreadsheets.
i missed this vid. Glad i found it.
Excellent video, I am just getting into the CCU game and this will be super beneficial to citizens like me!
this was very helpful! thnx man. now i have an Ironclad assault for $350
Oh thank you so much for this!
Patience is key. Having a little stashed Store Cred, to temporarily hold some gap fillers just in case but never applied.
Saved $345 on this IAE, thanks for the info o7
Thanks for the help!
Great video and explanation. I agree with the comment, I play this game as much as the normal one lol
Thank you. Very helpful
Thank you for this!
Yay I've been doing it correctly for years now 😊. Careful people. This is probably the most addictive part of Star citizen.
Dooood you’re freaking awesome thanks for breaking these down for us autismos 🙂↕️🙂↕️🙂↕️
thanks for the info really helpful to clear up any confusion with the ccu game ;p
With 68$ Dolars, Interprid became one of the best starter Packto star a CCu, i've personaly used it to get my second Connie
Appreciate the guide
good stuff. thanks for the info.
I wish I had known more of this during the pirate week and cargo sale - glad I knew it in time for IAE 😁
I'm glad to see that i kinda have good strategy myself for ccu game! 😎
great explanation!
Good stuff as always!
Star Citizen, the game within the game. Fun in its own way if you spend wisely.
Great video, you can also pick up CCUs on speculative price increases ($5 now/today for more gain later if the 'to' ship gets a price increase)
thank you for the tutorial

There is an app for that! Look up star citizen xplorer for chrome.
The loaner ship list is a good thing to look at while waiting for ccu chains.
I like learning about the CCU game, not going to use it as I plan to grind my way in game but still useful to learn. Thanks
Very informative video !!
True end game of this game.

Excellent video.
Great Video
Great Guide, but I hate waiting
It was great to save some money with the CCU game this IAE but it also got me to spend more for speculation on what might make a good chain.
This is the trick. But if you planned on buying more ships in the future anyway it is worth it
My fleet is pretty much done, I save around 65% on every single ship. Was a long way for a normal backer like me.
The real challenge is fighting the CIG marketing team in predicting future links.
thanks for this
Slid into that finish line for IAE. 😂

Yes lock in the price of the To ship first and if a better deal arises switch to the better deal.
id recommend spending ur credit first then go with cash so it saves more than the wbccus
Huge video, maybe in another video you could go over how to pick up ccu's ahead of time and predict future ccu's
great video..helpfull

Perseus for the win!
You are a "MACHINE" when it comes to producing good quality videos. Where do you find the time to sleep and play STAR CITIZEN ?
A strange addiction CCU chaining is lol
Got a bunch of CCU chains from this IAE and idek what ships I’m gonna use them for, saved some money on my odyssey chain but I have a ton left over so
Gotta ccu when it comes to large ships
good chains take a lot of time. Also my best savings come from price increases an not WB CCUs, but it not that easy to predict those and you have to follow the development closely for hints. Problem is that it is addictive ;-)
nice tips
The frustrating thing is that CIG can increase the price of your anchor ship and void the CCU and possibly wreck your chain.
I managed to snag several "speculative" CCUs that is holding up a maaassive chunk of my credit
Thanks for this Guide. Sadly its after the IAE :D
Nope it was right at the end... You're just seeing after IAE lol
My issue has always been that I have none of my CCUs applied and therefore can’t play with any of the new ships to determine if I want them. No one around the verse to share a ride either.
hardest part of this is waiting for the ccu's and not finishing them. I always worry about ships going up in price and ruining my chains -_-
hey! Right now many ships cannot be bought, C2, Caterpillar and many more, you know why?
I hope I win the Perseus. Maybe I'll be able to do the CCU chain then, haha
My insurance is showing the original 6 months from original and also the 120 months from upgrade. 126 months total.
How come the ccu game app is not mentioned?
Also, concept speculations?
I think I'll teach the old school way and when people find the CCUgame app tool they can use that as well. I dont want that to be the crutch people start on until they understand the game.
I have no patience
I over spent
Great way to put it in DEF too bad it’s slowly fading out 😅
Wait are you saying the actual game is a spreadsheet?
Lmao no just showing folks how to save money
I joke. You should see my spreadsheets doing the same thing. At some point all game optimizations end up in spreadsheets for me.
can't wait to burn my money on this
This is getting out of hand my man 😂
