how do we connect NFS or SAN shared storage to our ESXI host servers in office environment ? via fiber cables or via IP address only ? all the online tutorials are setup on LAB environment using VM player but i am confused the organization physical setup
usually storage SAN devices (controllers + disk shelves) are resides on a different rack and are connected to the rest of the network via special SAN switches or switches that combines SAN features and IP features all together, like cisco nexus switches. The media via witch the SAN storage is connected to the rest of the network are based on the scenario requirements but usually, the management network is normal ethernet and the data network are fiber optics based.
Thanks. worked for me on ESXI 5.5 too :) However, recently i upgraded to EXSI 6.5 and cannot prior NFS... Everything i did in your video is the same,, no credentials etc as well..In 6.5 however i'm getting "Failed: unable to mount" Since i had no credentials, i tried NFS3 (since supplying creds. are not available" and also tried NFS4, and just left User/Pass blank..(I figue on Windows 2012 R2 where NFS is, its the later version, but i was just doing it for testing purposes) Still nothin..
