  • This talk was given at a local TEDx event, produced independently of the TED Conferences. With clear and surprising examples Harmen introduces us to the world of sharing. A world that turns out to be much bigger than you might think.
Harmen van Sprang is co-founder of shareNL, the Dutch knowledge and network platform for the sharing economy. His organization is a hub, connecting consumers, entrepreneurs, corporations, cities, governments, knowledge institutions, politicians and media in order to further develop the sharing economy. ShareNL collaborates with clients like ABN AMRO, Achmea, Accenture, Amsterdam Economic Board, ANWB, Orange, Rabobank, several ministries and the European Union. Harmen is an advisor for entrepreneurs and companies, a public (international) speaker and co-author of the business book 'Share - Why the sharing economy is the future', which is to be published early 2015. About TEDx, x = independently organized event In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)

This point needs to be emphasized. Ownership entails all kinds of responsibilities that many us do not want. I want to use things not own them.
Access is OK. We need a slogan for the Sharing Economy. I suggest "Usership not Ownership." Maybe "Access not Ownership"
Modern communications an apps make sharing, and earning from sharing, easier and easier.
