The Ed Sullivan Show was a television variety program that aired on CBS from 1948-1971. For 23 years it aired every Sunday night and played host to the world's greatest talents. The Ed Sullivan Show is well known for bringing rock n' roll music to the forefront of American culture through acts like Elvis Presley, The Beatles, and The Rolling Stones. The entertainers each week ranged from comedians like Joan Rivers and Rodney Dangerfield, to Broadway stars Julie Andrews and Richard Burton, to pop singers such as Bobby Darin and Petula Clark. It also frequently featured stars of Motown such as The Supremes, The Temptations, Stevie Wonder and The Jackson 5. The Ed Sullivan Show was one of the only places on American television where such a wide variety of popular culture was showcased and its legacy lives on to this day.

Yayyyyy. Florence, Mary and Diana!!
Love their beautiful sparkling light blue they both look amazing, gorgeous, and beautiful 😍😍
Yesss finally this in high quality 😭😭😭 love this medley and they were glowing in this appearance. One of their best looks
Im here for the high definition too!
:) While I agree with your assessment of the look... This weird show band arrangement HAS to be the worst thing ever done to my beloved Supremes musically!
Love Everything IsGood About You, one of the sweetest poignant Supremes songs. Can do without the hair over Diana;s eye, but..what ever.
Wonderful super supreme supremes!!! 🎤👄🎤👄🎤👄 Love how the camera stays on Mary and Florence!!!
The Greatest Girl Group Ever PERIOD.
not even close...The Shirelles were better as were Martha Reeves & the Vandellas...The Ronettes
I agree with Calvin..
@calvinbealer7264: 1000% agree…@jadezee6313: All the girl groups you named may more talent, but the Supremes were more accomplished then ALL the girl groups you mentioned and All the girl groups period!
@@jadezee6316 IN YOUR DREAMS!
Finally the rest of this performance! They all look like Goddesses! Especially Florence 😍 love that hair on her!
Those wigs and her style was IN in the 60s. My cousin used wear one, Lol
@@agentgringo5238yes! I bet your cousin looked amazing! Vidal Sassoon asymmetrical style 💖
@@Jocelyn_Jade ❤❤❤miss her too. she was cool and funny!
The ending is still missing in this posted segment - “With A Song In My Heart” followed next. :( 🎵
They sure do look like Goddesses
Classic beauty and real talent!
The one and only, The Supremes!
Beautiful songs 🎶may god bless you always 🙏🙌🗽🇺🇲🇩🇴🎁
I love the Supremes! When I was a little girl it was my dream to grow up and become one of the Supremes.
Three great voices ❤️❤️
It would be great if the whole medley was shown
🌟MORE CONNIE FRANCIS PLEASE!!! I LOVE THE SUPREMES!!! Keep those two legends coming. ❤
I love this medley! This has been available on RUclips Music to listen to for a while, glad we are finally getting the video in high resolution!!! 🥰
AMEN BROTHER!!!!!!!
Omg I’ve never seen them perform Everything’s Good About you. I had no idea… I’m so excited. Hurry up and premiere it!
There’s one more missing piece to the end of this segment-“Without A Song”-fingers-crossed it’s uploaded soon, too, and meanwhile thanks again for this so much! ❤
@@italoman9 I wonder if their were copyright issues. The song is included on the YT Music audio of this performance so I’m surprised it was missing. It was still good to see the performance crystal clear. The unofficial uploads of this performance don’t capture Mary and Flo. This shows them a lot right their with Diana. These ladies were so beautiful and were really in sync with each other when it came to their voices and stage presence!!! ❤️❤️❤️
I noticed that it doesn't fill the frame. I wonder why.
we need MOOOORE sir!!!!!!
Blondie Ballard looks beyond radiant on here.
Blondie?
Florence’s nickname.
Marvelous Voices with a superb Song Medley👌
Beautiful performance by The Supremes and really enjoyed it. A little on the big band sound considering a couple of these songs actually rocked.
YESSSSSSSS
beautiful voices ... wow --- love their music .....
This group was on the oldie's station when I was growing up. I LOVE music from the 60's.
Damn, when Blondie was on her game, she completely garners everyone's attention with poise that could not be ignored. Not starting shyt here with Supremes fans, but one clearly see's here there was not enough room on that stage for two powerfully talented (top) vocalists with the looks to match. As sexy and desirable as Mary Wilson was, she's no match for those two, at least during this performance. What beautiful, mature real women.
When artists didn't have to resort to flashing acres of flesh and be tattooed like a gangster to gain credibility. Just pure talent and natural beauty.
This video ends early. Missing are "With a Song in My Heart" and "Without a Song."
Diana ross god bless for ever 🙏🙌🙏
0:50 - the slow show up shot of Flo & Mary was the best part of this video. I miss them so much!!
Wow! This is amazing for any oldies lover..
Thank you for the video, 😻Please can we have Millie, Rose and Mame🙏🙏🙏
Yay! Supremely Wonderful ☺️💖
Wonderful compilation! Thank you for sharing this. God Bless You & stay safe.
Florence is breathtaking here. Shes got it all going on. Mary..sexy without even trying
Maravilhosas sou muito fã principalmente Diane ross
I love all these songs ❤️❤️❤️
I’m a LITTLE salty that that didn’t show the final performance of this melody but at the same time super thankful that they’re uploading these classic videos at such high quality!
Awesome! I was 6 years old when this aired. I've always enjoyed this song it's so peppy.
I've been waiting for them to upload this half of their performance in 1966!!
I thought it was airing last night. Guess I was wrong. Looks like its tonight. Cant wait
FINALLY
WHAT THE F&%*?????? the medley is INCOMPLETE!!!!!!!!!
I remember me and my dad breaking down on the Hollywood freeway and we walked to the Chinese theater and caught Lady sings the Blues. I was just about 8 or 9. Thanks 😊 🙏
It's nice to hear it now in 2023
Also it is GREAT to hear them in 2024 :)
This is about the time they became goddesses.
Ohh I can’t wait for this. I don’t think I’ve ever heard them perform IHAS on Ed Sullivan. Can’t wait!!!
They were on The Ed Sullivan Show The Supremes 14 times
And the first time was the year I was born 1964 I watch The Ed Sullivan Show almost everyday it's so sad when the Ed Sullivan Show comes on you look in the audience it's not even a handful of African American people there that's why I don't like to watch it even when the Supreme four on I don't know what was going on in 1964 I don't remember I was just born
Nice!
Hey @TheEdSullivanShow , this is great but why did you guys cut-off this medley? It's missing "Without A Song". Sigh.
Just utter class ❤
Three months before I was born 😃
Finally!!! But seriously. They cut off the final part of the medley: "With A Song in My Heart." It ruins the entire performance. Just before this video starts Dian tosses the earring she caught during "You Can't Hurry Love" to the floor. You can see it just behind her to her left.
I’m so excited! Hurryyyy how’d I never see this one?? HOW. Just when I thought there were no more videos of them to upload
I dont think i've seen it either
The Millie Rose Mame medley has yet to be uploaded. It's from the same night as The Happening. 😎
They were all beautiful and sexy.
❤❤❤
❤❤❤❤❤ 🎶!
💖🌟💖🌟💖
I think there was more to this video because Flo and Mary were holding tambourines which they used for "You Can't Hurry Love".
That was their current number one at the time.
Perhaps they had two separate performances on the same show.
Please upload the complete video medley. It’s missing “Without a Song”. One could argue it’s the best recording on the “I hear a symphony” album.
Ironically the video is actually posted without a song! 😅
Please post "Without a Song" which they were just leading into at the end
Florence walk is Everything! They are The Greatest Female Group Ever❤️❤️❤️
I love Diana, but couldn't take my eyes off of Mary and Florence.
Nice to see this , but "Without a Song" was cut out at the end.
Ah, the infamous wig Ross had to constantly flip from her eye. She would do that when standing between Flo/Cindy and Mary, blocking their faces.
Why is the video incomplete?
One can only imagine what this would have sounded like if Motown would have allowed to position a microphone in front of Flo and Mary!
Amazing performance!! I wonder if Diana’s one earring was intentional? If not, I bet there’s a funny story behind why one was missing lol
No it wasn't inetentional. It had fell off during the You Can't Hurry Love performance
Why was the last song cut off?!
Only 66 years ago
SO they sang 3 songs on Ed Sullivan that night? Because this is also the night they sang "You Can't Hurry Love".
They also sang "Without a Song" just as this video fades out, it was the closing song of the medley.
@@JonathanGardnerTV So annoyed. They'll prob post that as a stand alone. Taking it out here ruins the performance.
@@JCNDCIII yeah because u can tell its missing something
Florence was a true beauty. Diana and Barry time does not wash away sin.
The Supremes were an American girl group and a premier act of Motown Records during the 1960s. Founded as the Primettes in Detroit, Michigan, in 1959, the Supremes were the most commercially successful of Motown's acts and the most successful American vocal band, with 12 number-one singles on the Billboard Hot 100. Most of these hits were written and produced by Motown's main songwriting and production team, Holland-Dozier-Holland. It is said that their breakthrough made it possible for future African-American R&B and soul musicians to find mainstream success. Billboard ranked the Supremes as the 16th greatest Hot 100 artist of all time.
Florence Ballard, Mary Wilson, Diana Ross, and Betty McGlown, the original members, were all from the Brewster-Douglass public housing project in Detroit. They formed the Primettes as the sister act to the Primes (with Paul Williams and Eddie Kendricks, who went on to form the Temptations). Barbara Martin replaced McGlown in 1960, and the group signed with Motown the following year as the Supremes. Martin left the act in early 1962, and Ross, Ballard, and Wilson continued as a trio.
During the mid-1960s, the Supremes achieved mainstream success with Ross as lead singer and Holland-Dozier-Holland as its songwriting and production team. In 1967, Motown president Berry Gordy renamed the group Diana Ross & the Supremes, and replaced Ballard with Cindy Birdsong. In 1970, Ross left to pursue a solo career and was replaced by Jean Terrell, and the group reverted the name to the Supremes again. During the mid-1970s, the lineup changed with Lynda Laurence, Scherrie Payne and Susaye Greene, joining until the group, after 18 years from its foundation, disbanded in 1977. Source Wikipedia
It takes away from the impact of the performance splitting it up like this. Just give it to us in its entirety soon please! It’s important people FEEL it. Stop being stingy
The great legend and icon that is Diana Ross.
What the hell? They didn't show the whole performance. What about Without a Song? What is going on with this RUclips channel? Not good a upload since it does not include the entire medley.
I guess they’re trying to spread it out. Because they’re running out of content but by bit of The Supremes
@@AlkalineInsides No I don't believe that. The performance yesterday was uploaded nine months earlier, so it is a duplicate. I think someone operating this channel is not checking their work before putting up content. More indications of it going downhill.
lol u sound like someone who remembers the night the original performance aired. How many other songs did they sing??
@@ceeceetracey9839 The only song cut off was Without a Song, which is another 1 minutes 30 seconds to the video. This is also the same time they sang You Can't Hurry Love.
@@ABALLAM3 copy that
What happened next?? Why just cut it off like that??
Right. IT seems like they did more
Florence Ballard never looked better.
Diana's wearing only 1 earring.
(New trend?) 🤠
It fell off during their first performance of You Can’t Hurry Love! She actually caught it lol without missing a beat but it seems they went straight into the medley after right after
I wondered if anyone else noticed this.
Flo at 0:51
I really love Diana Ross my best song from her baby love but I still think that that Mary Wilson was the most beautiful woman on The Supremes Diana Ross she's done the Supreme very wrong Mary with the most beautiful girl she was gorgeous❤
Mary Wilson and FLorence Ballard were very talented. Berry Gordy reduced them to "background singers" to make the dreams of others come true.
especially BERRY'S
I’m in the minority but I don’t look at Mary and Flo as background singers especially on songs like “I Hear a Symphony” Diana may have been lead but all three carry the songs especially before Flo left, they were all instrumental to the success of the group at least before Flo left.
@@Lokicool382 I agree. But Berry did shove them to the back.
@@Lokicool382exactly!!!!
Yes, Florence had the powerful voice, Mary had the beauty, and well, Ms. Roll slept with her boss.
Shame on you.
@@mojo0307 Shame on you for being triggered by the truth. Do your reseach on the Diana Ross's first daughter.
@@ceasarandrepont1243 YES! RHONDA GORDY ROSS.
@@freddie3206 Facts, can't hurt but lies can. 👍🎶🎵🎼
Sad you can feel the disention of the 3 of the girls. Shame Diana destroyed the groups legacy by being selfious
Its sad how Diana Ross lives Rent free in your head! You're sad... You take time out your life to post the same lie on all her clips and videos. Find a hobby bc this one is pathetic.
never been a fan of Ross because she isn't close to the great black female singers...like Ella and Billie .... Sarah... Carmen .... Nancy .... Dinah......etc
but....this is certainly miles above what passes for music these days
Medleys are a ripoff. Either play the whole song or don't show up!
I felt that way in the 1960's and still feel that way today.
Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons always did a medley of their hits whenever they were on this show, or at least it seemed that way to me.
