    Good video, but a criticism is I would rather see both devices at their best, rather than stock. I know you're trying to compare apples with apples, but I'm not actually getting anything out of the video if no tweaks are made - because the reason most of us have one is to optimize it for the games we love. Maybe if you had gone through each game, added some notes on the screen alongside the gameplay that showed us what the optimized settings were for that game & device would greatly help.

      always open to criticism! definitely something I will keep in mind for the future and will try to make an updated video. Here I just figured some people wanted to know the stock performance of them. I will probably update the video title to indicate that these are default setting. thanks for checking out the video and the valid feedback!

      Stock is what every one gets. This is what I rather see.

    • @Edwinschuur

      Its not really stock. The Mupen App is optimised outlook the box for RP2.
      ArkOs is not the stofkap for Rg351 andnis also optimised and preconfigured.
      Both systems and emulators are preset with better settings rather than the default settings of each individual emulator.

      @@Edwinschuur not true, there is a universal profile for the RP2 you can find on RUclips or Reddit that is a massive performance boost for many games.

      Late reply here but I respectfully agree with Rob on the criticism. All due respect for Marko and love the videos. But it's crazy how software optimization can make unplayable games run perfect. I got a RG351M last week and couldn't run most PSP and N64 games. But after ArkOS and adjusting the emulators and then settings, I could run a lot at 2x resolution above 30 fps, which is very exciting!! Would love to see these optimized settings against the top settings for the Retroid Pocket 2. I was torn on the purchase and would love to see both systems at their best. I know the tough part too though is that new updates in software/firmware keeps happening making these videos obsolete quick.
      I will say though that after a week of tweaking with the RG351M and getting ArkOS, I found PPSSPP-Standalone-GO and N64-Standalone-Rice to run games very well. Way better than shown in these videos. I am having a blast replaying games on a well-made pocket device like this! Really is a great time to be a gamer. Again all love to Marko and appreciate the videos.

    I'm the one who requested this video so I guess I should be the first one who should comment! LOL With ArkOs it's definitely better on RG351. I too would easily choose the better performance over the slightly better image quality. Thanks a ton for the video!

      But remember it's default settings and default emulator on RP2, can be tweaked and n64 will run much better.

      To be fair, most games don't really use the right stick and it makes a decent c button tool

    @oc3anl4b 3 года назад +3

    I have both devices and I don't agree with your video. In this video you made the same mistake as in the PSP one . It is unfair to make this type of comparison using the default app configuration on RP2 for both, Mupen and PPSSPP. It makes seem that both emulations are worse in RP2, which is not true. With the correct settings, games run dozens of times better on RP2 than RG351.

    • @marko_1458
      @marko_1458  3 года назад

      While I can agree with you on this video that it maybe is not a fair comparison, but I was just going for out of the box performance for the most part, will be looking to make an updated video with tweaked settings.
      On the PSP video I think it is a valid comparison as I did check to make sure the settings in both were the same. so unless there were settings that are not visible, I think its a fair comparison. but I can see where you are coming from as with tweaked setting you can get better performance and I believe I do state that in both videos multiple times.
      Thank you for the feedback though I will take it into consideration for future videos!

      @ I'm torn between the RP2 and the 351m, I mainly intend to play classic NES titles and a mix of GBA and DS Pokémon games, I want to be able to play donkey kong country as smooth and good looking as possible, but I also want to be able to run SM64 pretty well. I don't intend to play many (if any) PS1 or Dreamcast games. I would really appreciate any input or advice you could give me on the topic, I'm interested to know what do you think are the biggest downfalls of the RP2, is there any input lag since it runs via android? did you experience stick drift and what are your overall thoughts on the overall button quality and layout? is there anything you wish you knew about the device before purchasing? do you know if there are any differences between the regular RP2 and the Funtastic Collection RP2? I don't think I'll need the wifi or bluetooth much, do you ever use them? if so whats your experience with them? once again the most important titles for me are DK Country, SM64, Super Mario World, other NES titles like Metroid or Galaga, and some kind of pokemon game. I'm really sorry for the overwhelming amount of questions but I've been researching these for hours and am really interested to see what someone who has extended experience with the device thinks of those titles and how they run. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated, cheers and have a good one
