One day, Simply Red had given a show in Ottawa, Canada's Capital, at the National Art Center, I believe. After their show, they showed up at the door of the Zinc a superb dancing bar in famous Hull, the sister not so city, on the Québec side of the Outaouais River. I knew the owners of the bar, they were friends. (While studying Economics). So I recognized the singer of the group, waiting in the line-up!!! to get into the Zinc. So I went to him and asked him to follow me in.....No waiting time for Simply Red. I welcomed all members of the group, very polite guys. They all thank me very much. Afterwards, I told to my friend inside, female owner, who would also work at the bar. She said well done Paul, what can I offer you .... on the house. A great moment. I like Simply Red. A kind of precious moment in life! I was much proud of my Hull welcoming talents.
That was a truly wonderful thing you did for them and I'm sure both you and the group will remember it fondly for years to come. I'm happy for you that you got the opportunity to do that for them. Surprising how even the most popular of stars can be brought to everyone else's position in life at times....like having to wait in line until a friendly face comes along to rescue them from the dreaded long lines of waiting. Good for you to do that for them. I'm proud of you for helping them out.

@Heather Scott I don’t think he was wiser than his years at all. I’m sure most teenagers have deep complex emotions. But most of them aren’t able to verbalize them as beautifully as Mick could, much less vocalize them.
My second time to see simply red livein Ireland and although I absolutely love them. I was annoyed they didn't play their song from the eighties that they were so known about. Concert didn't reflex their real fans from 80/90. And that twice so won't be going again.

Mick Hucknall was my first love when I was 14 ;-) I bought all the albums of Simply Red and this music is so beautiful! It really does have everything in it. This 2 hours compilation of live greatest hits is so awesome, and his voice... 30 years and it's intact. Amazing. It was a fun and exciting journey through these hits

@Heather Scott I don’t think he was wiser than his years at all. I’m sure most teenagers have deep complex emotions. But most of them aren’t able to verbalize them as beautifully as Mick could, much less vocalize them.
His mother left when he was very young. This song was very cathartic as he wrote down his real feelings

My second time to see simply red livein Ireland and although I absolutely love them. I was annoyed they didn't play their song from the eighties that they were so known about. Concert didn't reflex their real fans from 80/90. And that twice so won't be going again.
