- In good running condition little rust. TX Car but moved to Arizona. Just finished the auto to manual transmission swap. Just needs to switch the pedal box and she will be ready to enjoy. So many new parts with a lot of upgrades. High output Alternator Alumium radiator, with new fuel system. This ZX needs to go to a good home.

Hi Jamal. I having an issue with my 1982 zx turbo gas tank and hope you can help me. I am the original owner. I am having trouble with what is almost certain to be rust in the gas tank. It used to run but just recently it will start and run for about one second before it quits. I have replaced the fuel filter twice and the fuel pump as well last year. I have tried to syphon all the fuel and rust out twice but I am unable to get more than a gallon or two with only very slightly rust colored fuel coming out (no pieces of rust). Of course I could replace the tank but finding a new one seems to be impossible and if I drop the tank and clean it my mechanic, who has NO training working on Datsun's said I may have trouble getting specific parts such as an O ring to put it back together. Nearest Nissan dealer is 2.5 hours away by car and they are no help at all. Could you please give me some advice on what would be the best solution. PS I bought a part for my car from you on Ebay a few years back. Regards, Ken British Columbia, Canada
Hi Ken... you really need to drop the gas tank and take it to a radiator shop to boil it and clean it also you need to clean the sending unit too and flush all the fuel lines and the return line. replace the filter after cleaning everything. I do have O rings in stock if you need one and a decent gas tank too. I wish you were local to Phoenix AZ, things would be easier for everybody. YOu can get to the gas tank from the rear hatch area under the foamy panel. Open the round panel and undo the sending unit...I am sure you have a rusty sending unit and a rusty gas tank and I am sure your fuel pump sucked chunks of rust.
@@jamalmansourborini63 Thanks for your input. Should the fuel pump be replaced as well? I live in a town of 11,000 people with no Nissan dealership and I have not been able to find somebody who knows about Datsun's. I even tried searching online without success for the mechanic who worked on it in the 80"s when we had a Datsun dealer. Also, after all the cleaning etc. are there ALL parts around that I MAY need to reinstall such as this O ring that my mechanic was talking about? I have no knowledge of cars and mechanic work so it's going to be fun ha ha ha.
