Plot To Overthrow FDR Documentary

  • President Franklin Roosevelt made an enemy of the richest Americans with remarkable haste. By his first term, his heavily progressive New Deal taxes and the suspension of the gold standard inspired vocal opponents within the highest echelons of industry. Among them was an irate William Randolph Hearst, who filmed a message decrying the “impudent” and “despotic” new tax code. Yet of all of Roosevelt’s powerful enemies, perhaps none were more formidable, or incensed, than those who considered throwing him out of office by way of a fascist military coup.

Brad Watson - The confusion comes from they are both of an authoritarian leadership. It doesn’t help that the major example of communism is USSR which history describes as not being beneficial to the people. But now knowing how much anti-communism propaganda there has been in the US, who knows how true this was.
Democracy, true democracy of, by, and for the people is THE only answer. The rulers will never stop squeezing everything from the people and planet until they have enough. However, that is a bottomless pit that will never be filled.

Taking the US off the gold standard was a good idea if you use it for the right reasons (paying off our debt) but it could be very destructive if you use it as a blank check (like Reagan started to do in the 1980's).
Our country has been taken over by the corporation fascist and all they had to do was wait for a stooge like Reagan (really Bush Sr) to start the process. All our laws against monopolies have been destroyed since then and now we have no Democracy but a fascist oligarchy.

While Edward Norton (I understand he uses that name now more than Ed since he didn't want his name to get confused with the Art Carney character on the old "Honeymooners" program of Jackie Gleason) is a great actor I think he's a bit to young to portray such a character as Butler since he was rather older when this took place though of course he could be made up to look older, and of course his voice was a gravelly one. I suspect this should be a job for a great character actor who would be willing to challenge his voice to capture the essence of Butler. And he would have to be a small actor since Butler was indeed a very small man albeit one as tough as nails considering he won two Congressional Medals of Honor one at the Boxer Rebellion and the other from his duty in Central America. A character actor from the past, but way to old now to play him if he is even still living anymore would have been Harry Dean Stanton since he looked a great deal like Butler. You may or may not remember him, but he was a great character actor was in a lot of movies. He played the FBI agent who was in charge of Pantangeli in the "Godfather" Part II and was in a bunch of Paul Newman movies including "Cool Hand Luke".

Please do not diminish what FDR did for the American people. The man saved our country from the dual crises of the Great Depression and fascism, both home and abroad. First Lady Eleanor did a helluva lot, too.
And yes, in our economic system, there are classes. So if our economy failed, so too, would that system. Or so the thinking goes, since none of us can actually predict the future, calls for “Eat the rich!” notwithstanding. FDR wasn’t a socialist or a communist - that’s just the same rightwing smear that Republicans use to this day to insult all Democrats.

In reality Lindbergh was positive to some of Hitler's ideology and was a strong agitator against American interference in the war. FDR was even convinced he was a Nazi, so the story is not that far fetched, as there also was political currents towards fascism in the US, with industrial leaders such as Henry Ford directly supporting Hitler's path to power. The country also had the largest Nazi organization outside Germany during the 1930's. There still are many people in the US who believes in the Nazi ideology or in some form of fascism.

Like other posters, I am also surprised this hasn't been made into a movie. It requires the attention of more Americans.
The current political landscape is similar to that present during FDR's first year. In our case, the Koch brothers represent the invasive corporate presence in politics. As several interviewees point out--fascism is the corporate control of the state affairs. Quite literally, Mussolini, the dictator of Italy, defined fascism as corporatism. And that is, unfortunately, the way our country is headed with legislation like Citizens United. The most patriotic action an American can take is to vote against any legislation that gives more control to our democracy or military to a corporation.

In his 1st Inauguration in 2009, Chief Justice John Roberts botched the oath and it was repeated in the Oval Office the next day. Obama's 2nd Inaugural in 2013 fell on a Sunday, so he received the oath that day in the Oval Office and then the ceremony was performed the next day on the steps of Capitol Hill.
This was either 'just a coincidence' or it was a sign from GOD that FDR (died 1945) was reincarnated as Barack Obama (born 1961 - 16 years later).

There are always omissions of facts if the facts don’t support the authors vision (agenda). American’s have become so week minded that they allow twitter to became the most powerful influence in the formation of social beliefs. Twitter and other social media has been elevated to a god like status. Legitimate news agencies descend into rating wars, catering to the audience’s preference over the facts. It is all “tell me what I want to hear or I’ll look elsewhere for confirmation of my own personal reality”. People follow like sheep, entertainment personalities become moral guides to the masses. A guy that can run up and down a court and throw a ball really well, or a woman who plays really compelling roles in movies, or the guy in high school that was always trying to be funny and is now a major comedian, that’s who we turn to for moral and political advice? Anyone who makes a loud noise and sounds like what you believe is who you follow. Joining with other likeminded people all reinforcing each other’s beliefs. Even here on this media, if you express an interest in a particular video, you are pointed to similar videos. If you watch a video expressing a particular belief, you are confronted with more and more videos, each reinforcing that belief. In no time that belief is rooted deeply into the facts that you mind uses to form opinions. People now sit in a bubble of their own making and all forms of media spoon feed us exactly what we want to hear. There is seldom full factual representation of anything. Facts are omitted, opinion is substituted and masquerade as facts. There is no unbiased news. It is all editorialized. All telling us what to think and presenting a case for why we need to believe it. Remember when the news were facts and the channel would notify you the following was an editorial.
Definition of an editorial - to set forth one's position or opinion on some subject in, or as if in, an editorial. to inject personal interpretations or opinions into an otherwise factual account.
That is the state of our news outlets today. Not to present facts so we can form our own opinion but to give us an opinion. We search out others that express the same opinion. Watch / follow whoever we find that is the most entertaining or somehow complements and we feel included with.
What we need, as a society, is cold hard facts, all of the facts.
Example “A vehicle lost control and plunged into a ravine killing a family of four. The exact cause of the crash remains unknown.”
CNN - DRUNKEN FATHER KILLS FAMILY OF FOUR!
CNN has discovered that the father, who was probably driving at the time of the horrific, fiery crash, was stopped thirteen years ago when an unidentified police officer suspected he was driving while over the legal limit. Now the drunkard father killed his entire family while driving dunk.
FOX - Ford Bronco on Firestone tires calms four more victims.
We here at Fox News have learned that a Bronco with Firestone tires was involved in another fatal crash. This time taking the life of a prominent businessman and his entire family of four. Ford and Firestone declined to comment.
Washington Post - Distraught man kills entire family.
Sources tell us the Joe Regular was in deep financial trouble. He was undoubtedly depressed and decided to end his life and take his entire family with him rather than face the public humiliation of financial ruin.
RUclipsr nut - Another Alien Related Assassination - Another Government Cover-up.
Joe Regular suspiciously dies after admitting that he once saw what he thought was a UFO. The assassination was covered up by running the car into a ravine and setting it ablaze. Joe knew too much…….

It is hard to understand why the hell didn't FDR arrest, try, and hang Prescott Bush, and other wealthy conspirators for treason against the USA. Even this video belies the actual crime as a crime against FDR himself, and not the USA, and its Constitution. The financiers of Nazi Germany were attempting to destroy our Democratic Republic in favor of a dictatorship. This is top level treason, and the conspirators went Scot-free. Why? Some historians state that FDR was scared that the country already suffering from the depression, and improving would reverse back to full-blown economic down turn if he was to go after these captains of industries. I have a different take on it. I think that his families wealth was tied up in these corporations through investments in stock, and the like. His mother had denied him any control of this wealth, and he did not want to put his whole family in the poor-house as a result of serving justice against these traitors of the USA in addition to what the Historians opine as his motivation not pursue justice for treasonous acts.

      @dentonfender8872 6 лет назад +7

Because Banksters can manipulate the price of Gold by artificially creating recessions, and depressions as they did in 1929. In fact if you look at the American economy over the long term all through the 19th century, you will find that the USA had large economic down turns every 15 to 20 years. These economic crashes create opportunities to those who have large caches of Gold to buy land, businesses, industries, technology, and the like at very low prices. Once they, the wealthy have acquired what they need at an extreme discount, they begin investing into the economy again, and make a killing on their acquisitions, and investments. Because paper money can become inflated, the rich prefer Gold because it retains its value during a depression. This is why the rich should be heavily taxed. It is one of the best ways to prevent them from manipulating our economy. Their bottom line doesn't care about anything, or anybody. The actual people who work, and produce the wealth for the owners are vulnerable to economic devastation at the whim of the rich, and the wealthy don't give a damn. The best law that we the people could get passed in Congress would be to enact a separation of corporation and state law. They would not be able to manipulate our government, or our economy as a means to make a financial killing. This law at the same time would encourage competition, and investment back into their own U.S. corporations. Out sourcing would be heavily regulated. Monopolies would be forbidden, and or heavily regulated. The period of time between WWII, and when the Banks, and Wall Street were deregulated in 90's, around 50 years, was the longest period of time the USA has ever gone without a major depression. FDR's administration was heavily responsible for this long prosperity in the USA. As you must know deregulation of Banksters, and Wall Street created the 2008 depression, and this trend will continue every 15 to 20 years just as it did back in the 19th century, and early 20th century. Because most of us are uninformed, we will continue to be their cattle, and except anything they say about politics, and the economy. We are again at their whim.

Conservatives have long deplored a monetary system unbacked by gold. Self described far right wingers such as the John Birch Society, for years, tried to reenact the gold standard. It's a big thing even today among fringe groups. Why ?
Well, the following passage from a book on the Business Plot explains why conservative bankers wanted a return to the gold standard at that time:
_With the end of the gold standard, "conservative financiers were horrified. They viewed a currency not solidly backed by gold as inflationary, undermining both private and business fortunes and leading to national bankruptcy. Roosevelt was damned as a socialist or Communist out to destroy private enterprise by sapping the gold backing of wealth in order to subsidize the poor."_
