I remembered when my mother got married in 1964 as a little boy when this song was playing,it was Duke Reid sound system played at the wedding.Things were very poor back then, but you useto make yourself very happy. In those days when people in the rual Jamaica was getting married, they useto used sticks, also bamboos with coconut limps for the top , also around it.They would plat the coconut lims making harces for the front of the yard, to lead you into the booth. Those days will never come back again, most people in those days useto married at their yard after leaving the church, not like now most people is marrying at hotels, and clubs.
Like they say nowadays, I feel you, Blair. In '64 I was 12 and a country boy too; shared the same experiences, plus nine-night and 'gerreh'. Another thing was the town square where at least one shop would have a jukebox-- 3d for 1 tune, 6d for 2 songs and 1 shilling for 5. Memba dat? Some time yuh save up yuh lunch money fe punch a chune after school before running home. Ah, those were the days! --Æ.
A beautifully intricate composition, from the mysterious harmonica opening through the climatic harmonising to the last haunting note of the sax and the cymbal and drum roll ending. Lovely!
Lydford, GoldenGrove St Ann: My "mom" Choise & Uncle Lester, Both are now resting in peace, but the memories of childhood and these songs "Tears in my eyes" "What have I done" live on 4vr. Aunt Choise & Uncle Lester,,,,,,,,Thanks. Jukebox music and skittle table.
