"After we smash the Irish..." Irish men in the audience: Hell yeah, let's smash!" I'm from Germany and in my home we mostly wash our clothes in the washing machine. You can wash some more delicate fabrics in there too with the appropriate setting but I sometimes prefer hand washing them. And I always wash my bras with my hands. I don't trust the speed of the washing machine with the hooks and the metal, haha. The only exception are the sports bras I only wear at home, since there is no metal and I don't care if the speed of the washing machine makes them looser. You're a pretty good cook. You really care about presentation and I'm sure those "Kroketten", as we call them here, are really tasty. We often mix the potatoes with meat and onions. The spices are additional but very interesting. And yeah, I also "measure" my salt that way when I know the recipe. After a while of cooking, you just know how much salt in your hand is gonna be enough.
potato croquettes. My mother used to make them for my brothers and me in the 1940s and early 1950s in America. No cassava flour; she used wheat flour. I would use whole wheat and buckwheat flour now.

Your Tumbyas are very similar to “Croquettes”. (Originally French, but most western countries make them) - Without the coating and making the Irish more mashed into a paste you would have essentially the makings for Potato Pancakes. Love your Videos Josie! Hope to hear your Grandpa again too..

I shave a little soap off the bar so it can dissolve in the water. It has a spout for draining the water. You rinse them in it too and then ring out the water. I use a clothes line to dry them.

Miss Josey back in the Caribbean we would wash our clothes by hand in buckets or in the river/streams, the clothes would be laid flat on the big stones in the river to dry in the sun or hung on a clothes line with clothes pegs to hold them in place. One other thing you can do is hang your clothes on the small trees/bushes to dry instead of laying it on the ground which can get trampled on by the kids or the loose animals.
