@@3alenciagaboots i think another big reason is the lack of relegations. if the teams didn't get bonuses or stayed in the league after losing it, there would be a lot more passion behind the teams i think
@@derdox6720 for sure. especially in the nba, the same few teams are just shit year after year after year and its brought down average attendance and killed a lot of fans passion for the sport as they watch their team lose 60 games every year while the same few teams buy new talent everytime their old stars leave. I think having a league pyramid for basketball is a good idea but its kinda hard to wrap my head around since nothing like it exists in america

Big difference between global sports and USA sports. Global sports like Football are a battle between teams, its strategy, its a fight in the mid field to find that gap to attack, moving the ball around to create the space for a move, the game is the midfield battle with the aim of scoring.
US sports essentially got rid of the midfield battle in sports... one team attacks, they score, the other team attacks, they score, the first team attacks, they score, the other team attacks, they miss, the first team attacks, they miss... and so on.... Football is about the 90 minute running battle between teams trying to force an opportunity....

In germany ,and actually almost everywhere in Europe, League 1 to around the 5th league have their own ultra groups. They are at every game, no matter when, no matter how expensive, no matter where, even around the world if it comes to it. Being ultra is a way of life. Your life mainly revolves around it the support, the creation of choreographies, etc. I've been Ultra for 22 years and I can only describe it as love and addiction.
What is also important to know is that more and more people are forgetting or even confusing things: real ultras are not hooligans. It's all about support, passion and sticking together. Not about violence.

Our own home support is electrifying with megasize flags, big tifo displays and flares.
We sing for 2 hours straight minus 15 minutes at half time break.

No one in Europe calls Fußball (the German term) soccer. I think of American Fußball as a Muppet show. As is so often the case in the USA, things are just copied in a very bad way. Business versus passion. That's why there is such a negative attitude towards the American version of this great sport.
If you had ever studied the history of Fußball, you would know that it is not just a sport. It is also called “war by other means”. But history, like so much else, is an unknown entity to Americans.

World cup is not the best competition for the atmosfere. Best matches for atmosphere are champions league semifinals (those are the last games in the competition that are played in a home and away system).
