The GOAT is back with a banger upload
The 1984 USFL season in particular is the largest treasure trove of great teams with 18 to pick from. Love the Oakland Invaders like you said!
If I could bring back any team from the original USFL that wasn't brought back in the modern era it would be the Invaders 100%!
19 teams
Yes, 19 teams altogether over the three years. 18 played at once in 1984. No Orlando Renegades until the Washington Federals moved there in 1985.
Jacksonville Bulls makes 100 💯 percent sense, since Everbank is getting an upgrade…won’t be there ‼️
I agree with your tier list I want to see the UFL embrace that you are the only legit Spring Football league and take some teams from other past leagues that did well and put them in the UFL that can help the UFL with the big nostalgia factor
While I hope the league adds some true expansion teams, I really would want to see some past teams make a return to the UFL.
I was 15 when I watched the 2009 UFL Championship Game live with the LV Locomotives and Florida Tuskers. I absolutely loved it!
@@woodsyjones have you heard about the New UFL
Got to love ❤ the 2020 XFL season
This is a very nice list Zomb...very nice! I could see all of the S tiered teams coming back at one time or another. Oakland Invader's colors and logo were top notch back in the day. The Outlaws would be a fit in OKC. The Jacksonville Bulls should be a comeback team and my favorite team, the Apollos must be a team again. I loved everything about them. Thanks for making this, it was very nostalgic and interesting.
It was really fun to make and I'm glad you enjoyed it! I still stand by my opinion that the Invaders had the best logo and color scheme of all the leagues I mentioned in the video, and maybe even in all of football and I'm happy I found another person who also loves their branding!
Beautiful list
Edit: I would’ve said that you forgot about the TSL but all they’re teams had no cities assigned to them.
Naming those brought back a lot of memories. You missed a couple of BHM teams. The Birmingham Fire from the World League of American Football and the Birmingham Barrcudas of the Canadian Football League. We've had so many teams in BHM come and go - fan support has to be earned by the UFL.
For this tier list I only used teams from the 5 leagues I mentioned since leagues like the CFL and WLAF had teams that weren't in the US and I wanted to include every defunct team from a certain league, but also just teams based in the US. I agree fully with Birmingham needing to have the UFL earn the fans' trust as in so many markets we have seen team/league after team/league leave/fold and we need to see the UFL last to build up trust in their markets.
San Antonio says "Preach it!"
4:32 Yes Wheels!
What the UFL could look like if all 19 USFL teams came back and all 9 XFL 2020 teams came back. Once again there would be 2 Conferences, the USFL conference and the XFL conference. Each conference would have 14 teams in them with 2 divisions (with 7 teams in them). The USFL conference's 2 divisions would be the North and South divisions. The North division would consist of the Chicago Blitz, Denver Gold, Hartford Federals (formerly the Washington Federals), Michigan Panthers, New Jersey Generals, Philadelphia Stars, and the Pittsburgh Maulers. The south division would be the Austin Gamblers (formerly the Houston Gamblers), Birmingham Stallions, Jacksonville Bulls, Memphis Showboats, New Orleans Breakers, Orlando Warriors (formerly the Orlando Renegades), and the Tampa Bay Bandits. The XFL conference would have the East and West divisions. The East division would consist of the Arlington Renegades, DC Defenders, Houston Roughnecks, Ohio Guardians (formerly the Orlando Guardians, and yes they play in Canton Ohio), Oklahoma Outlaws, San Antonio Brahmas, and the St. Louis Battlehawks. The West division would consist of the Arizona Wranglers, Los Angeles Express, Portland Vipers (formerly the Vegas Vipers), Salt Lake City Gunslingers (formerly the San Antonio Gunslingers), San Diego Wildcats (formerly the LA Wildcats), Seattle Sea Dragons and the Oakland Invaders . The regular season would be a 13-game season
New York , Orlando
Eventually, yes but they should get what they have 100 percent polished before expanding
I mean you're talking to the #1 guy in the UFL community against expanding in 2025 so I agree with you!
You left out the NFL with the Canton Bulldogs. In relation to championship teams, just adopt the defunct teams into the history of the surviving teams. The Wheels suck as an identity so that's why they should be in the bottom lol. The San Antonio Gunslingers name was taken by an arena team wasn't it? None of those LA teams are worth salvaging and the Extreme just sounds like an arena team. The Locos and Nighthawks definitely should be back so I agree there. Move the Renegades to Orlando and use the Apollos logo. Salt Lake could succeed but would need a new expansion team like what I suggested with the Utah Raptors idea. Hartford I actually agree with and the Generals definitely but I want them in New Jersey freeing up NY as a state. Beuong that, I didn't really like any of the NY teams. The Breakers will be back but not so sure with the Maulers which, as I said, I'd like the name in Memphis and go with a pit bull logo. San Diego Fleet was a weak name but it had a great look. Seattle Dragons I still think they're competing with the Seahawks for fans. Hawaii would need a new name like the Sharks. No to any of the Chicago teams as they need a new identity if they put a team there. The Virginia Destroyers were also the Florida Tuskers if I remember right and I'd like to see them there. And there's no reason you can't have two military teams if you can have multiple horse teams and what not lol. And just checked, the Tuskers did become the Virginia Destroyers. The Sacramento Mountain Lions would be cool to see back. Portland should have a team and should be the Thunderbolts. But the Sun sucks as an identity.
You should have included the CFL expansion into the US as they had a couple of cool teams like the Shreveport Pirates.
Overall, you did a great job with your presentation other than when you slipped up and called the Apollos an XFL team.
I had a fun time making this list (even if it took forever to make the tier list lol) and I probably could've added the American CFL teams if I re-did this list tbh. Once again, thank you for the idea!
You'd be surprised how many teams the NFL had in their early years. Yes, Canton Bulldogs were one of them, and I understand that the UFL trademarked the name.
@@skidawg22 oh, they had many teams I'd like to bring back from the defunct NFL. I think it would be fun to see them back. Where the NFL sometimes has throwback jerseys and such, that's not the same thing as actually having teams with these identities on the field. Then you have other legendary teams from other leagues prior to the 70s like the Los Angeles Bulldogs and Ironton Tanks. I think the closest we'll get with those are fantasy leagues but it would be fun to see.
i could see some of the brands returning but in different cities, the wfl for ex. the americans and vulcans were birmingham, the vulcans would be out cause tht is just an iconic landmark for the city, but i could see the americans laced in another city same for the thunderbolts of the original xfl, the barracudas from the cfl exansion., {one of the best uniforms ever} could be relocated, ,the oklahoma outlaws, oaklnd invaders, and sherveort steamers and orlando aollos are a few other teams i would return.
I think they could definitely move some of the teams, especially the ones that already moved once in their history.
You forgot WLAF (later NFL Europe)
I only wanted to include American leagues in this tier list and the WLAF and CFL are both leagues that have many teams not based in the US.
@@ZombPhoxUFL Wouldn't mind the Ohio Glory in Canton
WFL ,Hawaiians, Oakland Invaders, United States Football League, Orlando Renegade Jacksonville Bulls or Sharks, Denver Gold, San Antonio Gunslinger, bring back, Tampa Bay Bandits?
My picks;
1. Seattle
2. San Diego
3. New Jersey/New York
4. Orlando
5. Canton
6. Portland
7. Phoenix
8. Philly/Oklahoma City
The Expansion is literally happening in 2026. Now I think they do maybe 1 team for each or 2 for each conference. New Orleans I think is nearly a lock to make it. Maybe New York Gaurdians on the XFL Side
The Breakers are the only near-lock IMO, as for who else, I could see the Guardians or Dragons make a return, or see a true expansion team in one of the cities that had great TV numbers.
@@ZombPhoxUFL yes but the Gaurdians are the only ones I’m seeing rn. The West Coast seems to be a little later so the Gaurdians are the only remaining East Coast team from the 2023 XFL
They need to retire the gargoyles. You can take the Roughnecks back, and (in addition to the Breakers) let’s pick from the Stars, the Generals, the Maulers, a Canton team, Oklahoma Outlaws, Jacksonville Bulls, Chicago Blitz…
What about WLAF's North American teams?
I wanted this list to be of just teams from defunct American leagues. If I make an updated one of these in the future I will probably include American CFL and WLAF teams.
Also sad you didn't look at the WLAF and CFL team names.
If I were to remake this list in the future I would probably add them, but for this one I wanted to include every defunct team from the leagues I used, but with the CFL and WLAF they have many teams that are still playing.
The reality the UFL has the rights to the USFL teams and the XFL 2020 teams. Don't think they have the rights to the XFL 2000, guessing Vince McMahon owns the rights to. Besides it seemed the current XFL avoided the original XFL, unlike the USFL goal was to use the teams from the 80's.
My tier list is
Please bring back the Omaha Nighthawks' New Orleans Breakers New jersey Generals Philadelphia stars Pittsburgh maulers Sacramento locos Seattle sea dragons San Diego Fleet Oakland Invaders
Might or Doubtful Denver Gold Tampa Bay Bandits Ohio Glory Los Angeles Extreme
The D &F tier are teams with no shot
I would love to see the Gold return, but it definitely feels like a long shot for them to be brought back. If they bring back the Invaders I really hope they don't change their logo or uniforms.
Outlaws... Enforcers... Renegades... Bandits... four "lawless" teams, no problem! Three SHIP teams? Nah, brah!
I would say the difference is that the logos for the ship teams are much more similar to each other than the "lawless" teams (if you stick with the current Renegades logo and not the bandit logo).
Put teams in Seattle and Nashville and go from there
I think New Orleans is all but a lock to get a team (Breakers most likely) in the first wave of expansion, but I would love to see the Dragons return to Seattle as well (even though that probably isn't for a few years).
No WLAF 1991-92 teams. Boo! 😊
All 11 of those teams’ uniforms were top notch As for the euro teams. Just relocate them
In the states. Louisville Monarchs. Honolulu Dragons(those colors would fit Hawaii) and the Florida Galaxy. For example
I was thinking about it, but I decided not to since I based them all on playing in a city they originally played in and didn't want to just put most of the teams in the F tier lol!
European League of Football revived all those WLAF/NFL Europe names.
Yeah and they all look awful
Compared to the originals.
@@Mike-aka747 Difference between owning the rights to the name and owning the rights to the logos. ELF got the names, but couldn't get the logos, so had to redesign.
The galaxy are in the current European football league, monarchs maybe the Nfl London franchise
I didn’t’ t see the BHAM Stallions…?
Oh I found the lil blue Horsey, lol 😆
😂
No WLAF teams? Tr!
Only wanted to do include fully American leagues which is why I also didn't include the American CFL teams.
The Chicago Fire. It was their name first before the horrible soccer team stole it. The Fire can become an AFC team and play directly against the Bears in Chcago.
