Pink and Gold glitter kitty I went to ASU..our homecoming is always on Thanksgiving..has been for the past 100 plus years. We used to play Tuskegee every year, but it switched to Miles & a few other schools. It’s hard to get teams to come play us on Thanksgiving unless we have a tradition with them
I was a UAPB trumpet player from 2001-2004. I have never been biased when it comes to bands. SU was cleaner, more precise, articulate, more powerful, and more exciting and entertaining. Also, their arrangements are and were better than ASU.

SU for the w. ASU was cool. The low brass is on point, but trumpets and mellophones are still drowned out a bit. SU was cleaner and louder. ASU was blowing for the size.
Take it from an elder SU Band Captain, (Class of `1968), nobody, but nobody could blow with SU back then, and nobody can blow with them now!

Kenneth Moore u may know my sisters Dawn, Lenora and Jerrie Player. They were at southern at that time as well. I saw my first su performance in person in 75 as a kid and was blown away. The best show ever.
People tallking about ASU entire band wasn't there, Southern's wasn't either. This is the parade band, they never march full numbers during parade season.
mister bojangles you missed the entire point that ASU's full band is still half the size of SU's full band and ASU FULL BAND isn't even here. It's just a emphasis on how tiny ASU is. lol The point went right over your head. Just to give you an example this smaller parade band SU has here is still larger than ASU's FULL band in some sections lol. But they still sound big tho!

I'm guessing so will ASU. Unlike Southern they are actually rebuilding their program. SU is pretty mush always consistent.

As I always say SU is the absolute best band on the planet. They toyed with these guys...just annihilated them with power..unlimited power!
SU didn't toy with ASU, they were giving it all they had. ASU was just good too.

Power hits only ,over there just having a good time destroying their opponent while AState was giving it their all... stuntin like my daddy like 11 years old but it murdered everything ASU played. That's toying with your opponent knowing you don't have to pull out your absolute best stuff and still devour you. The jazzed up fight song sounded better than anything ASU played... that's toying with them...the battle was over after black

I'm not concerned with what SU could have done, it's what they didn't do that's telling. SU treated ASU like a treat and they should have. The only thing SU had over ASU was upper brass. Natural SU was going to be "louder" being that they are larger. SU trumpets outnumbered ASU 2 to one, not to mention SU's trumpets are other worldly good!! However, as a whole they didn't slaughter ASU by a lot. It's cool to prefer one over the other, but at least attempt to be unbiased when making a critique. I actually prefer ASU here and I've been bashing them for two years. They've made mad improvements.
While ASU has made serious strides, they still can't match SU. And not even talking in the sense of numbers, ASU doesn't sound full to me. They're arrangements sound hella thin and shallow. Although I do like they're fake love arrangement.

S.U continues to show up and show out.....Alabama St cool, but SU always seem to be on a different level then the rest of the bands each time, after first song of Alabama St. I was thinking, o..o...SU what you going to do, thats when the slaughter started....down hill on selection and performance for Alabama st starting with the second song. S.U seems to be getting better and better ....

I'm not even a die hard SU fan. Im in tsu's band so I'm not biased towards neither. ASU took a L. This ain't the battle of the arrangements this is battle of the bands. ASU messed up too many times and SU over all tone was better in my opinion. they both the same style but SU just did it better.

I don't know what some of these people are watching. I've said some harsh critiques of ASU through the season and last season. However, I only judge a battle from the moment, and ASU was no push over here.
In no way was this a blowout. Some can't get past pride or affiliation to give an unbiased critique.

Fabion Wilson only foolish people say that about MEAC lad. Are you a musician? Or are you just one of those people who ride SU because they are loud and that automatically means they are the best? I am extremely sceptical towards SU because they send such a wrong message to the music community, especially the black community. It might not be their fault but endless people get the wrong idea from just watching SWAC and all they take from it is volume is everything when it isn't. Now there are a couple of times where SU truly had me chilled out and impressed but MEAC owns the musicality, tone, dynamics, and articulation that the SWAC hasn't mastered. You sleep on the MEAC as if they don't compare which is ridiculous.
Thanos The Mad Titan I'm an SU grad and as my personal preference has nothing to do with me be a musician, secondly besides FAMU, Cookman, A&T and Norfolk your conference other bands are really lacking most if not all or the SWAC bands are better!

SU is much cleaner and have a better overall sound. Very well balanced as always. U can hear each part well and, on most songs, no section is overpowering the others. But, ASU is loud...
Lavonta Strickland lol man bye. It is much easier for a band that size to be "balanced" than it is for ASU a band with 17 trumpets and a larger very strong low brass. SU is the one that was loud but that's about it. ASU was cleaner and almost just as powerful with half the brass. Y'all are delusional 😂

I'm sorry for being late about saying this, but bama state sounded really out of tune in certain sections of the band on all songs they played. And it sounded like they tried wayyyy harder than they should have. SU won in my eyes.
