Any genre of music can go together providing the composer has enough skill, rap and metal have gone together, metal and dance, opera and metal, but then again most metal songs were influenced by classical, and opera and classical go hand in hand :P
Scott Hamp Yeah that's exactly what I said when I first listened to symphonic metal. You should also listen to bands like Nightwish, Epica, After Forever and I would also suggest Within Temptation (they do not have an opera singer but they rule!!)
***** Athefos Hatrolk For all of you who wonder, "Hrimata Eleison" is not a Latin phrase it's a Greek one. "Hrimata" (Χρήματα) spelled in greek, means money and "Eleison" (Ελέησον) also spelled in greek, means have mercy. This phrase is used instead of the actual greek phrase "Kirie Eleison" (Κύριε Ελέησον) which means god have mercy on us or deliver us. Obviously the phrase is used in order to show how humans have turned money into their god.
***** I tried searching for it online, but I couldn't find it. Someone would have to directly ask the lyricist of the song. That lengthy reply to you was incorrect and instead referred to a different part of the song, a part before the point of the song to which you were referring.
Anna Yannaka No. ***** and Athefos Hatrolk mean the Latin lyrics that the choir sings at 1:47 AFTER "Oh save me from my blame" as ***** posted. "Hrimata Eleison" is what Dianne van Giersbergen sings at 1:32 BEFORE "Oh save me from my blame."
+PANYHK she is beutiful ill give u that but i wouldent go as far as kissing the screen id rather kiss her if i ever got that chance sadly thats not likely to happen in this lifetime :,(
DERSCHWARZE VOGEL I will tell you a detailed meaning rather than the one I was planning to. "It is Greek. Hrimata means money and eleison actually comes from the phrase "Kyrie eleison" which means "God have mercy." This phrase is typically used in Greek Eastern Orthodox Liturgy as a way of invoking God during worship. Being Greek, I absolutely love the twist Xandria uses to combine money with a religious phrase. How I interpret it is that money has corrupted society and thus, in the same way we invoke God with the phrase, society invokes money as a pseudo-higher power as it distorts our minds to do this we typically would never do. This song, I think, is a criticism of our society and one (extremely clever way) of doing so is by slightly altering a religious phrase into something new, i.e. Hrimata Eleison. It is actually my favorite part of the song because it is incredibly clever, not to mention a shout out to all Greeks :P I hope that helps and makes sense!"
This woman voice. Too Amazing!
Never heard of this group before... happy as hell I checked them out.
You never think opera and metal go together until you hear this song, like I did. Dianne Van Giersbergen is AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

After "Oh save me from my blame," when they're speaking Latin, does anyone know what they're actually saying? I can't find it.
I'm not sure, the only thing I can understand is the final word which is "sanctus", that means holy or sacred.

What is Xandria's full name?
THIS. VOICE. GAVE. ME. EAR. CANCER.
The song is cool and all that, but the guitar solo fucking sucks. It's like you're waiting for something big to come and well....
