Long shot, but the next time you hard start, go throw the temp laser (or your hand) on the starter itself. I had a starter that would saturate itself with so much heat it would act like it had too much timing / low or dead battery / hard starting until she cooled back off. Mine turned out to be a loose ground wire on the back of the starter that when shaking would arc and build heat on the ground post spreading to the rest of the unit. Good luck on the hunt!
I like how she was mad at you because she was the one that got abandoned at the old shop but yet she's the first one you picked to work on in the new shop
Slick is a sheet metal genius. That wagon is a straight up work of art. That front end with a bumper is pure beauty. Great to see you guys working in the new shop.
You should get a power window kit (like Jc Whitney used to make for crank door windows) for that back window. That would be an outstanding fabrication video, and it fixes that annoying issue.
it will overheat at idle unless you use manifold vacuum. you're using port now. time it with vac can disconnected then connect to manifold vac where you connected the gauge then lower your idle, because your timing will be advanced. if your idle becomes unsteady you need to change your vac can that is full in at your idle vac NAPA can help with that.
To help with lowered vehicles on the 2 post lift you can go buy a couple of hard rubber stall mats and cut them into 8" or 10" wide strips (will be about 3 or 4' long) that you can stack into a pyramid to drive up on. Works a bit better then stacking wood blocks since the rubber grips the concrete better. Hopefully that makes sense.
Remember, grounds are your friends. I always run a ground from the battery to the fender, from the battery to the block, from the back of the head to the firewall, and from the engine to the frame. A heat shield will help between the starter and the exhaust.
My dad used to have an old 62 Corvair Rampside, and I totally recognize that ignition switch. Just like every Chevrolet my dad owned, it had a keyless start...
Sir Puddin, this is very unusual to have Monday early afternoon Monday episode. Glad you are at least car starting and working on cars. I know you needed to get your shop ready to get work in, now you are back at what makes you so great. 😊
Once the shop is fully operational and all the toys and equipment is back in the new house and in the new garage should invest in a floor scrubber with some industrial-strength degreaser to clean the floor and then lay down a nice sealer maybe some Thompson's WaterSeal to keep all the fluids from soaking into the concrete floor just my opinion and I hope you run with it thank you sir have a blessed day and your beautiful family
I just sold my first patina bicycle for $100, now im sicker than a dog sitting on my ass not finishing no projects, thank you for the entertaining and educational content puddin.
Us guys In the import car scene build folding wooden ramps to drive up on so we can get the lift under the car. You’ve been playing with wood a lot lately you just need a few feet of 2x6 and some screws.
I d never admit to Thomas Mortske that I’d take his advice on most things but I did buy three of those Cyclops lights off Amazon at the beginning of this summer. Now i keep them charged up and take them out to the shop every time I go out. Between those and one of those ribbon style head lamps I’ve always got enough light to do the job. Big thanks out to Thomas.
Puddin, regarding that reoccurring leak...There is a crush washer required on the fitting that holds the pump and the pump housing together. They came from the factory like that, back then.
I usually run it at 4 degrees. You sacrifice top end power. But it starts easier when its warmed up, especially after filling up gas and the engine heat soaks for a couple minutes. You spend more time between idle and 2500rpm. So that's what I set it for.
Jacob..That slow motion car wash was hilarious. Made my Monday. Not sure if you read or respond to comments. I have a suggestion. Hang something circular in overhead to the right of the fiberglass car shell. I think it would be a nice transition into the lower ceiling part of the shop for the camera angles you shoot at . Have an awesome week and keep up the amazing content and editing 😊
Nice to see ya braken in the new shop, kinda miss the old one, but given time the new one will feel more like home as time goes on. Good to see Slick puttin a whoppen on those front valance panels, the sheet metal whisperer.
shop is looking sick AF brother..!! when Kmart went under i got one of their lifts they actioned off for 1200 buck, because no one really went to the action. u will fall in love with it guaranteed, makes life so much easier. thanks for the long video.
a good possibility is the header is heat soaking your starter thus causing the hard starts once warm for the rear springs i would deflate footballs slide then into the springs then inflate them which will keep it low but keep it from hitting the chassis
Paint, patina….it’s whatever you prefer, it’s your car. I think patina looks awesome! Got me thinking I might do the same with my grandmas ‘66 VW beetle.
Timing should be set @ 2k rpm with Venturi vaccuum/ vac advance disconnected. Then hook up vac gage with all time vac and adjust carb air fuel mixtures to where you get the most inches of vaccuum.
Using a piston/engine stop to determine the real position of tdc is useful as todays new parts are often crap including balancers and timing markers, anyhow driving it will always tell the truth. Liking your vids!!
I was about to comment this as well. Even using old OEM parts the marks can’t be trusted. The outer ring can sometimes slip on the balancer hub and there was different balancers that only work with certain timing tabs. Always best to use a piston stop and find the true TDC to make your own marks.
Just my 2 1/2 cents, I feel the starting is not timing but battery cable or starter. Unless your timing mark is way the heck off. I have ran 20 without kickback on the starter. 8-12 is usually the normal side of Sears for a sbc depending on cubes and camshaft, stock or slightly warmed, unless you are doing a big cam.
I appreciate your videos and like your sharing your life with us. I can give your videos a thumbs up and wish I could do more, but I’m not financially able to do so. Please continue to share your talents and your entertaining way of presenting them to your dedicated fans.
You don’t need to financially support any content creators. Google has plenty of money to spend! Keep watching, keep commenting, keeping thumbs up and of course share! That costs you nothing but helps him or any content creator out more than you will ever know. 😊
You're getting her done puddin looks good you only got a couple little fixes to do on the car that's pretty good keep up the good work I enjoy the videos thank you God bless
Mortske and his followers were knocking the shop decorating videos but I for one appreciate the cool background during your wrenching videos. I still watch Mortske but I don't miss a puddin video.
You did great with the lift you might want to get a pad for the left front tire that bolts to the floor where an average car will sit ( I believe there’s a measurement for it) then you can use it as a guide and park longer vehicles like your Silverado and Van in front of the pad and shorter vehicles like your Datsuns and Towrolla behind the pad.
I gotta get your opinion on those valence pieces, does slick think that any new car with smashed metal like that would come out? I’ve personally never seen work like that done and was extremely surprised at the result
I can watch a good tin knocker for hours just trying to pick up a few tips and tricks. Thank you for showing how Slick worked that metal out to some semblance of straight. I really think your new shop will unleash your potential, and I am looking forward to many more videos in the future.
I'll say this, adjusting that panhard bar is a LOT easier with it up in your teeth rather than laying on a cold concrete floor! Nice having that hoist er eh LIFT there!! haha
The New shop is Fantastic. Better keep some walking shoes. Lots of territory to cover. With all that walking it will defiantly keep you in shape. Great content as usual.
As much as I love you and the channel whenever you all about subscribers and things people send you idk how to explain it I just love everything about it this is how the world should be helping others and even tho it was something someone else didn’t want well one man’s trash is another man’s treasure god bless all the subscribers and supporters I pray everyone is doing ok and in case nobody told you today I love you
GM offered two different starters, the standard one and a hi torque one. You can tell if you have the hi torque one if the tang that comes up from the housing is closer to the end of the starter and has a copper spacer to the solenoid.
Watched earlier and was thinking about the timing issue you have. I think that the distributor may be off a tooth or 2. May be the reason for the fluctuation in the car running hot. You wanna be right before the #1plug position. But you know that. 😅
Sitting in a condo in Kauai Hawaii watching Puddin at 8am....Life don't get any better than this.
Long shot, but the next time you hard start, go throw the temp laser (or your hand) on the starter itself. Wow ,what a contrast from your old shop to your new SHOP 😊👍🙏🇺🇸
Hilarious guy and love that wagon and that lift.
That old shop sure looks sad now even the birds thought it was crappie
When you looked at the camera cross-eyed talkin about the headlights I laughed so hard you're a funny dude
You should get a power window kit (like Jc Whitney used to make for crank door windows) for that back window. That would be an outstanding fabrication video, and it fixes that annoying issue.
I approve this video…

100% agree, make some ramps to drive up on instead of jack shenanigans to get things in the air.
except most people have no clue what a stall mat is unless they they are equestrians
@@burleism5158old truck mud flaps would work too
@@burleism5158 if you can't figure that out from the description, you probably should not be operating a lift

The black single snorkel with finned valve covers looks good! Don't be afraid to roll with it!
Puddin before 7pm on a Monday? What universe is this?
I know. Now what am I going to watch after work?!? Lol
He posted that he messed up the posting time, was supposed to be scheduled for 6pm his time, but got posed at noon
It's not a mistake, it's a happy little accident*
LMAO! That's what I was asking myself...messed up my whole schedule! But...I had to stop and watch this!😅😅
Covid clown world is the world we live in
She got sooooo much better with the front bumper. 👍
Sir Puddin, this is very unusual to have Monday early afternoon Monday episode. Glad you are at least car starting and working on cars. I know you needed to get your shop ready to get work in, now you are back at what makes you so great. 😊
Well I'm glad to see that you're working in The new shop That probably makes you really feel good I'm glad for you

Put a little weld on the nubs on your steel wheels and smooth it up to get the caps to fit tight so you don't loose them
That's the ticket😂
Bump this to the top.
I just sold my first patina bicycle for $100, now im sicker than a dog sitting on my ass not finishing no projects, thank you for the entertaining and educational content puddin.
get well soon!
Get Well Soon! I was sick for 2wks and just now feeling better.
Hopefully you feel better
Congrats on your sale my friend. Hope you feel better soon. 👍😎♥️🇨🇦
Praying you feel better soon 🙏
Epic video. 2 hours plus. Puddin back to fabbing. Slick 50 and Bill. Pressure washing with the epic music. Watermelon buying Thank you sir.
Dang Puddin got me taking a 2 hr lunch at work 😂
Haha! So true on lunch too 😅
Glad to see the 61 back in action. 61 is my favorite impala and it was my high school ride.
Could you imagine Puddin’s blood pressure in a rainstorm on a busy road with birds cawing in the background…also I hate all three also😂
Gotta say... I'm HAPPY the video went up at noon!
Us guys In the import car scene build folding wooden ramps to drive up on so we can get the lift under the car. You’ve been playing with wood a lot lately you just need a few feet of 2x6 and some screws.
Pro Tip. If your Jump N Carry is dead. Hook it up to the tow vehicle while it’s running and the alternator will charge it quickly.
YES but after use, plug in (slow charge) the jump pack for longevity... that used to be my go to until my jump packs died only after a couple months..
I d never admit to Thomas Mortske that I’d take his advice on most things but I did buy three of those Cyclops lights off Amazon at the beginning of this summer. Me too
Woohoo!! Puddin is back to his fun pressure washing scenes! Thank you Puddin!!
Puddin, you and Slick have transformed a former beater into a real streeter! Great video! Thanks!
Happy to see the old wagon again. One of my favs.
I’ve never been so glad that Puddin forgot to set this upload for 1900! Woooo!
Puddin, regarding that reoccurring leak...There is a crush washer required on the fitting that holds the pump and the pump housing together. They came from the factory like that, back then.
It’s early. I’m not complaining.
We all need to pitch in and help fund a new shop for Slick. Hell, 100000 subscribers times 5 bucks would build a nice shop.
I usually run it at 4 degrees. You sacrifice top end power. But it starts easier when its warmed up, especially after filling up gas and the engine heat soaks for a couple minutes. You spend more time between idle and 2500rpm. So that's what I set it for.
That’s what I was thinking the gas was getting hot and vapor locking

You got a fire extinguisher that needs serviced😂😂 ..the one to the left of your EVERGREEN sign. Stay safe🙃
Wow, an early Monday... I will take it .. Hear we go ..
The station wagon really looks great the side look the best I’ve ever seent !!
The patina wagon looks awesome after you put all the bumpers on it and did some little bit of modification, it looks good
Ohhhh. HECK YA! Early Puddin Time!!! I think it was a trick or treat and we all got the treat 👍👍👍🙏
If you ever do decide to paint instead of patina, I’m betting you’ll be awesome at it, because you are very thorough at whatever you decide to do!!
He means buy a car with nice paint... 😅
Beating the undercoat off with screwdriver…..you’re damn right!
shop is looking sick AF brother..!! when Kmart went under i got one of their lifts they actioned off for 1200 buck, because no one really went to the action. u will fall in love with it guaranteed, makes life so much easier. thanks for the long video.
Man that wagon is worthy of bragging. I felt that spasm just before you mentioned it. Must be the shop gods.
a good possibility is the header is heat soaking your starter thus causing the hard starts once warm for the rear springs i would deflate footballs slide then into the springs then inflate them which will keep it low but keep it from hitting the chassis
It was NICE to see you working on a car again.
Nice to see the old wagon again!! She’s sounding pretty good!!
It's good to see you back wrenching Puddin.
Puddin time let's go. Galaxy see the wagon back getting some tlc
Paint, patina….it’s whatever you prefer, it’s your car. I think patina looks awesome! Got me thinking I might do the same with my grandmas ‘66 VW beetle.
To drill out rivits, come at it at an angle-- this keeps them from spinning
Always do a shake test with a two post lift once you get the tires a couple inches off the ground.
Its good to see the new shop working out so well and seeing everyone in the viedo again
I like the natural light in the evenings. Gives the video a whole different vibe.
Timing should be set @ 2k rpm with Venturi vaccuum/ vac advance disconnected. Then hook up vac gage with all time vac and adjust carb air fuel mixtures to where you get the most inches of vaccuum.
Congratulations on the new house and shop!
Great to see you don't have to twist and turn to get something done.
Glad to see the wagon it's one of my favorite builds. The shop and home is excellent! ❤

Don't forget to add the back door windows to your list.
ol Slick needs a channel as well. I would definitely be a subscriber! Start gettin on him to record his own channel!
Good to see the lift with a vehicle on it! Slick 50 is impressive with a body hammer.
Maybe i'm a big dummy, but when Bill showed up at Slick's shop I said out loud "Hi Bill!"
For a car you pulled out of the junkyard she looks awesome!!!
Just my 2 1/2 cents, I feel the starting is not timing but battery cable or starter. Unless your timing mark is way the heck off. Sounds like that starter is getting hot. Maybe lose starter wires, too. Love that wagon bro looking good.
Mortske and his followers were knocking the shop decorating videos but I for one appreciate the cool background during your wrenching videos. I still watch Mortske but I don't miss a puddin video.
If I want to see interior decorating, I will watch Martha Stewart. And she's a lot better looking.
I am happy to see you back to working on your cars!
I can't be the only person that wanted to reach in and pop that rock out of the tire tread.
Slick is pretty talented with whacking on sheet metal. Wagon looking great. 👍
Hey Puddin it may not hurt to add a few ground straps, one on the trans and one extra on the engine to the body.
The Travis B, on youtube, has a 60 flat top. He found paint under his patina. Check out his video. You might get some of the original color back.
Love it when puddin works on wagon that's what brought me too this channel puddin hanging out the back window. Quickly became my. Favorite 😊
I gotta get your opinion on those valence pieces, does slick think that any new car with smashed metal like that would come out? I’ve personally never seen work like that done and was extremely surprised at the result
About time we got another glamour car wash.
I really love that wagon! Slick's ability to straighten out those bumper valences was amazing.
I can watch a good tin knocker for hours just trying to pick up a few tips and tricks. Thank you for showing how Slick worked that metal out to some semblance of straight. I really think your new shop will unleash your potential, and I am looking forward to many more videos in the future.

Car looks terrific with the front bumper on love the 61 style
Nice. Awesome to see the return of the wagon
Enjoyed this video , glad you are getting to use your new shop. Keep doing you.
Front bumper and hubcaps made a huge difference. 👍🏻 Great job!
28:39 low profile oil change ramps or a few 2x10 cut and stacked like a ramp to drive up lowered stuff on in place at the lift 😊
As much as I love you and the channel whenever you all about subscribers and things people send you idk how to explain it I just love everything about it this is how the world should be helping others and even tho it was something someone else didn’t want well one man’s trash is another man’s treasure god bless all the subscribers and supporters I pray everyone is doing ok and in case nobody told you today I love you
The sun shining in through the door at the end was almost epic!
Appreciate this video so much! Thanks for showing Puddin' in the gayrodge working on '61. 🎉
GM offered two different starters, the standard one and a hi torque one. You can tell if you have the hi torque one if the tang that comes up from the housing is closer to the end of the starter and has a copper spacer to the solenoid.
Like Slick 50s Smokin MO Kan Dragway sign. Been there many of time.
Mother's mag and Aluminum polish works awesome, also works to makes polycarbonate headlight lenses clear again.
Watched earlier and was thinking about the timing issue you have. I think that the distributor may be off a tooth or 2. May be the reason for the fluctuation in the car running hot. You wanna be right before the #1plug position. But you know that. 😅
Mothers Mag & Aluminum Polish works so GOOOD on metal.
Put a couple of little spot welds around your wheels for the hubcaps to clip on to.
