but harmony is way more complicated than that, this is just one way of voicing, its not considering keys, inversions, drop voicings etc, if simplicity is what you need, just stick to CAGED, its much simplier and its a good system

This is my first time seeing your Channel. I've been afraid of theory. I didn't know that I had ADHD or Dyslexia and when I took up learning guitar my teacher informed me that he's been teaching music all his life and that it was his observation that I would never be able to understand music or play the guitar. He said "the course was paid for in full and that it would be a shame to waste the remaining money". So, he suggested that I spend what was left on harmonicas... so I did. I'm a good harp player but I could never quit playing guitar... although music theory has been a mystery to me. You make it sound sensible and I thank you that. I'm 73 now ... music is a pleasure to me. People around me are deteriorating and many have passed ... but my music ... guitars and harps are with me still. I just got a keyboard... I figured that would be "basic and visual". I'm going to see more of your videos too. Thanks ❤️👍.

I played guitar for 25 years, never understood any theory. Then came RUclips and I learned a lot in just a year. Starting to play keyboard also helped, it is as you said more visual.
If you are like me you just need to find the right teacher.

The clear verbal explanations supported by excellent animated graphics make your videos so valuable, especially as a novice guitar player like myself trying to build up theory knowledge. I've played bass for several years with almost no regard for theory (playing by ear) and this stuff is a bit of a revelation. Thanks and please keep doing what you're doing!

i love this style of video! if i could make one suggestion, it would be to have auditory queues when showing the chord/describing what it may sound like. for example, when you're exposing the difference between maj7 and dominant 7, you could have the maj7 chord strummed once or played once when you're talking about it, then have the 7th note played, and when switching to the dominant 7 you can have the chord strummed or played once, and when referencing the note, play the flat 7 as a single note!
i think that would take your video to the next level :D other than that, i loved it

This is very interesting. You started with the E shape. If you transpose it up a fourth to the A string, you get the A shape. Transpose up another fourth to the D string to get the D shape. So all of these chords are from the same family, where the chord tones are on the same fret or higher than the root.
But what about the other family? In the G shape, all the notes are on the same fret as the root or lower. Transpose the G chord up by a fourth (taking it from the sixth string to the fifth string) and you get the C shape. Now between the two families you’ve covered all the CAGED chords.
