Evo 2024: Fan Rescues Daigo in pools

- So Daigo's hitbox /controller malfunctioned at Evo this year during pools. He quickly recognized this problem within 5 seconds into the first round of his match. Daigo immediately reported it to his translator and she summoned an Evo referee. As a result, he lost the first round based on the Evo rules despite no damage being taken from either opponent. While Daigo was trying to figure out what was wrong with his hitbox/ controller a fan came out of the blue and lent him a fight stick to use for the match. Big shout-outs to the fan.

As a fan, I would like to thank the man who lent me this controller.
Thanks to them, Daigo was able to win this match.
I also like my opponent at this time, JaycetheAce, because he was very gentlemanly about this trouble.

In similar news, Higuchi played one of his matches immediately noticing his LP wasn't working, so he had to open up his stick and tinker with it after winning the match. These guys win even with the malfunctioning gear lmao

He's actually a goofball. Cracks jokes all the time, and is a little crazy. Funny as hell. 🙂 But that's in Japanese. He can't speak English well, so he comes off a little differently when out of his element.

Sometimes 8 wish EVO were more like Golf or tennis tournaments where guys like Daigo automatically get a higher spot.
That's how almost all of these tournaments work, it's called seeding. If Daigo were predicted to be the number 3 player at the tournament, then he would be the number 3 seed and would get the third "easiest" spot in the bracket. He would start fighting the lower seeded people, then whoever is left as he moves up the bracket
This isn't done to give top players an advantage though, it's done so that your two top players don't accidentally meet in round 1 and one eliminates the other
Evo doesn't have seeds; everybody and anybody can enter, and only the best will come out on top regardless of the history or background of the players. That's why evo is the most prestigious tournament in the fgc, in spite of the lower prize pool compared to Capcom cup.
You can be a literal nobody and win evo if you're good enough.
@@internallyscreaming2788 literally every FG tournament that is played for money does seeding. Almost any tournament, in any game, played for money, has seeding. A tournament can be open to everyone and still have people determining seeding behind the scenes
