I just purchased the exact same product. I’m concerned about the bottom of the post and recommended hole depth. Every expert I’ve seen say minimum 2 feet. Hello Josh. Great video! Excellent work btw. I'm planning on installing a vinyl fence myself next year. Figured we could redeem a slam dunk quote withal we were getting a betwixt wave of qotes from 8k to12k. Like yourself we decided to do ourselves. Our yard is approximately 5000 square feet. We're looking at between 2k or more for materials. Once funds free up and spring arrives. I'll be getting to work. Fortunately I've some experience installing a fence. My late father back in the day taught me the exercise in setting in posts. Such a self great project to carry-out that will save you a ton of money. Your video gave me more insight and inspiration! Thankyou.
Thanks for watching and thank you so much for your kind words. Good luck to you on your project! You can definitely save a lot of money doing it yourself. It really isn’t that bad. The only thing I hate is when I run into roots that the auger won’t dig through. Then I have to break out the pick axe. I am way to fat and out of shape to swing that thing. But it is easy to push through to save the money. I wish you the best and let me know if you have any questions.
@@joshdoesreefing7241 I'm right behind you with being out of shape haha. Yes I'm well aware with battle of auger vs roots. The 🪓 will be used to the max if need be. My neighbor have a chain fence in the front side where our car port are.her gate is down the middle of our property,I want to put a vinyl fence in front of her chain fence on my property side for privacy is that ok?
The inside is just under 5.5, so wood post will not fill the inside. They designed them this way so you have to buy the aluminum inserts they make. But you only need them on gate post.
No, the instructions say that you do not add wood internally. The inside dimensions are 5x5, so would not fill it. They sell an aluminum piece that you use internally for only post that you are attaching a gate to.
When you stop a section , do you cover the two holes in the post until your ready to continue, so In case it rains , it won’t go in or just leave it open
I purchased the auger at Ag-Pro. They had to order it for me. The top/engine comes without the auger bit/blade. You have to buy it separate. I think both together were around $700. I have been asked to do a video showing it work and plan to do one this weekend. Thanks for watching and for the comments/questions.
You can have the panels delivered. I think it is a flat delivery fee around $60. May be the best way to go if you are getting a lot at one time. I get between 3-6 at a time, so I just pick them up.
Great video! When you get to the sloped parts, do you have to cut the panels and rails at an angle, or do they have a little wiggle room to go at that slant?
Looks good! How has the fence held up 2 years later? I'm doing my initial research to build one and I've seen multiple people say to use bags(plural) of concrete per post and to make sure they're 2.5+ ft in the ground.
So the thing is that wood post are either 4x4 or 6x6 and the actual size is less than that. The Freedom post are designed so that neither fit inside. The 6x6 are to big and 4x4 just bounces around in it. Also, it states on instructions that they are not used. Now I am just going by this one brand I installed. I am sure some brands of vinyl fence may require it. The Freedom fence at Lowe’s does not.
It is easy to do. I had to do it in a couple of spots. I forget the measurement of each panel/insert, but you can measure it and trim off the runners by that amount. So if you need to take off 2’ and each panel is 6”, then just cut 4’ off the main two runners and leave out the 4 panels. The only thing I ran into when doing that is you will lose the little ears/tabs on one end of the runner, but it still works. Hope that makes sense. I will try to do a video if I have time.
@@joshdoesreefing7241 could you do a video showing your gate with some advice for installing it? I'm trying to figure out how to do a double gate with the Freedom gates. What supports the gates where they meet?
I do not currently have a video for the gates and already have mine done. For the any Freedom gates, you buy the aluminum insert sleeve to go inside the post. You buy a gate kit to do a single and two gate kits to do a double. You will also need to buy a panel kit for each gate. They are not to difficult, but require some cutting. The max opening size I believe was 5 ft per gate. So a double could be 10ft. They do not require supports in the middle as they are supported by the post/inserts. You can buy different latches to lock the gates.
I know this is old but did you add the expensive metal reinforcements they try to sell with this fence? Also was it easy to do on the slopes without cutting the fence planks? I have a poorly graded backyard and want to try this brand to save money. Fence contractors charge way too much! I don't know why people do not call their dogs in. How’s the durability against the sun? Any warping?

Yes, I use 1 50lb bag of cement per post. For the gate post I use two bags.
