Would you like to see a sequel to the Goonies?
It's a stand alone classic, it's best to keep it that way.
They were talking about a "Goonies 2" as early as 2010, but so far, nothing as materialized. Just as well, as some movies should stay as one-offs with no sequels.

"Goonies" never say die! I loved how "Stranger Things" slipped in a subtle reference to Astin's role as Mikey by having Bob ask if they were looking for pirate treasure!😅 😉

Josh Brolin should of also been recognized in Men in Black 3, trying to act as young Tommy Lee Jones for the character Agent K. He did an excellent job doing that.

I must've downloaded the wrong movie again.
Well, those gems that were used to pay for The Goondocks look a lot like Infinity Stones. Although, I think there were 8, not 6.
I crossed the Goonies with The A Team i.e. The Goonie Team.
Correction * One Eyed Willie found them, and had them stored safely with himself and crew on his hidden ship where they could've remained forever.... but Mikey just *had* to swipe them! I mean he saved the homes of his family and friends, which does seem heroic. But that allowed them to be placed back out into the world and subsequently, the universe, making them free for Thanos to collect! And we all know what happened after that 😔 Natalia and Tony's blood is on Samwise Gamgee's hands.

Epic movie. I was in 5th grade when I went to see it. I have watched it every year during Halloween since. No sequel needed. This was an absolute timeless Family classic!

That’s not true. Thanos didn’t want to destroy the universe, he tried to save it. He was going to end half of all life so the celestials could no longer destroy entire planets for their own gain. Watch the eternals and put the pieces together

I’ll never forget how much Anne Ramsey scared me as a kid when I first saw this film when I was 8! It turns out that she was a really sweet lady in real life. Plus she got an Academy Award nomination later for Throw Momma From The Train! It just goes to show how convincing Ramsey's acting was, in that she was a sweetheart in real life, yet tended to play grouchy old women. She played a similar character in "Throw Momma from the Train", as Danny DeVito's grumpy mother.

Fun fact after shooting the truffle shuffle scene the director was so worried about Jeff Cohen health he bought him a gym membership where Jeff actually became a fan of health and fitness to where he was actually captain of his high school football team
Even though they are no longer with us, both John Matuszak (Sloth) and Anne Ramsey (Mama Fratelli) should have at least got honorable mentions.

Robert Davi, who played one of the villains, followed Goonies with Die Hard as a FBI Special Agent and License To Kill as the lead villain.
You prompted me to to look up Davi on IMDb and his list of credits is _staggering!_ He first appeared in "Contract on Cherry Street," a TV movie starring _Frank Sinatra,_ in 1977 and has worked steadily (almost no letup) ever since (including in one of my favorite comedies, "City Heat," with Burt Reynolds and Clint Eastwood). The man has no less than _SIXTEEN_ works in progress of some sort _right now._

Hey i remember this movie. It was great! But i dont seem to recall where i watched it..probably at school or on VHS or TV since i was like 11 lol.
If memory serves, there was some sort of legal issues going on with the Goonies, I think it had to do with a rerelease/remaster. I remember reading that Jeff Cohen ended up getting involved and was one of the lawyers involved to help settle things, and get the project back on track (from a legal perspective)

I was born in 2004 but my dad grew up on this movie and so did I one of my favourite films ever
Know I'm a bit late to the party... but there's an easy-in for a PREQUEL, involving the parents -- there's even a blurb when Bran points out that (paraphrasing) "everybody and their mother went out looking for it, when our parents were our age..." Come up with a good prequel, and a sequel, involving the original crew's kids w/ cameos from the OG Goonies and you potentially have two easy-win blockbusters -- presuming the story is good.
Still one of very favorites!!

I do remember how much this film was hyped up prior to release. It's a good movie but the other Spielberg produced film 'back to the future ' came out shortly afterwards with far less publicity and blew this film away. The cindy Lauder song was played a lot on the radio but deservedly was not a hit, but hey they had much better songs in the charts then.

My older siblings bought the VHS and I remember always watching as a child. This is probably my most nostalgic non-Disney movie. LOVE!!!!
Martha Plimpton has also appeared in tv shows like raising hope and the real O'Neals. She did the voice of Olivia in the video game Minecraft story mode and recently did Bridget's mom Briana on Vampirina which I saw on the Vampirina wiki website.
