My son his wife and I drove just over two hours today to see it in person...very impressive indeed to see it up close. As a bonus I got to shake Mr.Dickens hand and express my gratitude for what they've done...nice guy .
I like the sound of the trains going across the diamonds, particularly the Intermodal train with the double-stack containers. It has a great rhythm (2.49 - 6.56).
Yeah we were there earlier. And I agree, it's a sound I've always enjoyed! Not sure I'd want to live real close tho. That UP line sees over 100 trains weekdays!
Prob one of the best train-watching locations I've ever been to! Room to park and watch the action, and plenty(!) of it! At-grade crossing w/manned tower. What more could you ask? Oh yeah, if it was just 150 miles or so CLOSER!😒
Was there a problem Tuesday morning? It didn't take off until 8:55 after a lot of suspicious activity. Finally it looked like it was being pushed out of town by the diesel. Big Boy wasn't chugging, just steaming, and whistling, and no black smoke puffing.

There is something magical about a steam whistle and a bell on an old locomotive, especially the Big Boy. Great video. Nice that it was in hi def too.
Yeah. Even the whistle sounded just like UP 844's old whistle back in the 1980's, 90's, and early 2000's. Just amazing.

Yeah. A couple of other trains rolled by first when I recorded them while waiting to see the big boy up close.
