You hike to colonial locations most of us don't have anywhere nearby us, you find relics that many of us don't have in our areas of the country. I enjoy seeing the scenery and the cellar holes; & many many times the amazing relics that you guys are able to unearth. This is why I love your channel Charlie ☺️
My family settled in New Hampshire in the late 1600s. They sailed here on a ship called the James in 1648 and settled first on the coast. Then shortly after went to Sambornton and I can go there and see all the ancient graves still. These videos have so much meaning for me. Thanks a lot, guys !!!
Those massive walls and the curved rock pile are strange and must have had a purpose one would suppose, though what it is is anyone's guess. That was mind provoking Charlie but I leave the whys and wherefores to better brains than mine lol. I agree with you that it was intriguing out there but also beautiful in a rugged way, the thing is you never know what is hidden in the woods and it's fun finding them, even if you have no idea their purpose. A great video Charlie thank you sweetheart. Take care and stay safe please my friend God bless you and NinJen love and hugs to you both Mary-Ellen LFOD UK
Never noticed how many people wonder about the blueish wisps of bug repellant. The shed find was almost as awesome as the snake playing possum. All I could think of looking at the rock pile was lookout "tower". Extremely interesting finds today!!
Yes, you found the Ancients, Massive Ruins, (100,000 years old at least)! Settler's had no where near enough time, labor or ambition to even try to create this. The mold on these boulders can date this amazing find!
Charlie I picked up a shed in New Mexico and put it in my luggage. Then TSA scanned my bag and a group of them were looking at the screen. I had to tell them what it was cause none of them had a clue
It's tall, it's rounded, it's clean! Yes indeed quite the statement! Time to put down the metal detector, & pick up a pick, & shovel! Inlist about 20 friends to help you too!
Looks like some guy had a vision of overlooking that meadow. Couldn't imagine him putting that much effort into just piling up rocks on that ledge. Great find Charlie!👍🎧✌️
Impressive rock walls and piles. All that work on settlers and work animals. Just amazes me how with no machines like we do today and make massive rock formations like that.
The heap of stones on top of the boulder looks like a hiding place. Sweep it with the detector next time you are by it. Interesting to speculate what they were doing. The woods south of mine has a small pyramid on top of ledge. Good Luck, Rick
UVM Archaeologist James Petersen, National Forest Service of Vermont Dave Lacy, Smithsonian Institution Stephen Loring and Historical Ecologist Tom Wessels all visited a site in Rochester, Vt that has very similar rock piles. They all said they could not say for sure when the rock piles were built or who built them. Similar rock piles are found through New England and some even in West Virginia and Tennessee. Search for Smith Farm Rochester, VT for some amazing photos.
Charlie those look like defensive walls instead of walls that you would use for animals. That wall you were walking along would have had the Tall Timbers in the middle of it if it was a defensive wall.
Why move all the rocks make huge walls like that if your not going to utilize the land¿ That totally looks like it was the makings of a fort or something.
Remember when you and Dame were metal detecting up at the top of the hill and you found those odd rock wall placement but almost nothing metal? And wasn't that area also in the relative area of the French Indian War? Would this area possibly be around there? You mean that huge Rock Square looks like the base of a watchtower and that wall looks exactly like defensive walls that had Stone bases with wood actual walls. Idk man I would definitely look deeper into that place.
@@mixtaperadio that's what I'm saying but with not much iron in the ground I wonder if it could be completed covered by dirt and debris and it's just too deep...
At the beginning of the video you have what appears to be a wisp of smoke go in front of the camera. Any idea what it was. Good video, loved the Adventure . Look forward to the next one.the. Be safe and good hunting.
It could of been a lit cigar. He set it down on a rock next to the camera, then filmed him talking. He does love a good cigar. Now if it wasn’t a cigar then spirits abound.
It could of been a cigar. He loves his cigars. Across the way he set it down on a rock next to the camera. Then stood across and started talking. If he wasn’t smoking a cigar then the spirits were letting themselves be known.
What the heck was that passed the screen at 2 min And didn’t you think to put the detector over the pile at 7 min, in case they put something deliberately under there?
Nice exploration. Cool rock formations. Would love to know in beginning of video , did you have a cigar lit? If not me and a few other viewers saw spirits walking with you.

you have to wonder what happened to the places or towns? especially the largest barn from the 1800's. is there a town still there or is that gone? ive walked a mile into the woods and have found stone walls. when they were doing this, every where around was fields. how do you think they got rid of all the trees? and i wonder what they ate during the time they were doing all this. especially in the winter. it had to take a few years to get established.
Do you ever detect along those walls people had to have dropped something, or set something down when moving them big rocks, I'd be interested to know. Kevin from down under 😊🌏
Thanks so much for all these great videos. I am a 70 year old New Hampshire native and love history.

That built up pile was amazing, such an awesome thing to find,

Too damn wet out there. I'll just stay inside and explore these woods vicariously with Charlie!

at 1:58 it looks like blue smoke plus you can hear a low drone sound. Always enjoy tour relic hunting on the old homesteads.
Super exciting exploring these places with you, greetings from Austria

Beautiful deer shed,I used one to put all of my oxen knobs on it. Wow, great adventure. Crazy stone pile. Got the package today, thanks. Your awesome.
Thanks for sharing another awesome adventure.
You guys i just love the way you analyze each spot you hunt..And that shed Antler is a really cool bonus.I'm learning from you two.
Rock pile...be a great name for a band and a great thing to see on a Not Thursday

Thanks for taking us along, the wall of rocks is cool along with the shed surface find.
Very cool Charlie. Those are some impressive walls! Amazing! Thank you for the hike. =) Have a good day.
Great video, amazing stuff you find 👍👍☺️
that was probably a look out.
I didn't want it to end🤓 this is a good one👌🏼

Nice antler man, good score!
What a massive structure. Nice hike and deer shed too. Wonder where the other shed is? Happy hunting Charlie!
Don't leave me here! Ahhhh...take me with you!
Great antler find! There are so many things you can do with antlers.
That rock pile must have had a purpose, the view was too nice

A marker of some sort? Might have had a post on top
Googled the article. Very intriguing.
Good hunt 👍🏻

Sean, I found myself thinking the same. If they weren't defensive, they surely could have been.

the curve of the wall also screams defensive as you can view more area.

Another great video! It is nice to vicariously explore areas much different than that that I live in (Arizona).

I was about to ask him the same question.
Had to be a Snap he's smokn

It's called cigar smoke! Lol
I was hoping it wasn't the start of a fire
Sweet antlers
Charlie what on earth did the settlers use back then to lift those boulders? Beautiful day to be out doors. That snake was spookie.
Charlie at the 1:55 mark is that a ghost moving in front of the camera? I thought it was smoke but now I’m not so sure.

thanks!
Wondering if the rock pile is a cairn for a family.
Very interesting location 🤔
Always s fan of your video's , did you ever think about digging up the privy of these old home sites with all the treasures buried within ?
What was the mist passing the camera at 1:58......ghost lol
What the heck was that passed the screen at 2 min
And didn’t you think to put the detector over the pile at 7 min, in case they put something deliberately under there?
Yes, what was that! It looked like a wisp of smoke. Is there another person doing the filming?
@@greygoat1946 Charlie smokes cigars so he probably put one down to film.

Why did I see smoke about the 2 minutes mark, 1:57 ish actually.
What was that at the 1:58 minute mark that went the the shot right to left? Was that smoke or a ghost in the shot? 👍🏼😁
Have you ever swung over the walls?
Boom
👍👍

Just playing possum
Umm….pewter does not turn green, lol
Depends on the copper, tin and lead ratio. In the colonies they used whatever was at hand
Hog nosed
