Looks like fun! I have a 10.8 boat too with a Chrysler 15 Horse. It goes about 19 MPH by myself and 17 mph with two people. That motor seems nice and strong!
Is that a Hider 10.8’ boat? How does it handle a motor that size? I am thinking a 9.9 might be a better fit for that boat. How are the transom joints holding up?
I just bought this engine. I put it in a test barrel and it started quickly. Problem is I don't see cooling water flowing out of the engine at all. Does the cooling water start flowing after the engine reaches a certain operating temperature? This would be unlike any outboard I've had in the past. I'm afraid to run it too long, for fear of overheating and damaging it. Any ideas?....UPDATE.... I used cooling muffs instead of the water tank, and that got the water flowing. I wish I knew that from the get-go. Now it works fine in the tank.
@@giainhsumofamily9038 Yes, it's a great motor for the price. I wish the owner's manual was in English though. I can't read Chinese at all! I'm getting a little lower unit lube leaking from a hole that's near the fill screw on the bottom of the lower unit. I read somewhere that this may be caused by overfilling. I filled it by adding fluid until it came out the top hole. Does yours leak this way?
I just bought a 15hp on Aliexpress. I will be trying it on a small fiberglass skiff that I have. It will be a while before I receive it but looking forward to it.
I am on the fence about buying one of these outboards, would you recommend this outboard and how much does it weighs. Appreciate any input to help me make a decision. Thanks
I replaced a 6hp Yamaha 4-stroke with this motor and to me it's about the same weight. I think around 59 lbs. I would have bought a new Japanese 2-stroke but they aren't available in the US, and I didn't want to mess with a used older engine. I had it out twice and it's running great, even with a 25-1 break-in mix. So far I can't find any faults and with the labels removed you'd think it's a Tohatsu or Merc.
@@yamahajapan5351 I haven't used it it a few months, since my cabin cruiser has been in the water. I'm anxious to test it though, to see how the fuel lines are holding up. I've heard people are replacing the fuel lines with higher quality stuff.
dude you need to learn proper starting procedures. a good tip with a rebuilt or new 2 stroke: any budget tcw3 oil 25:1 for the first 8-10 hrs. On first start, let it idle for a full 10 minutes before giving it any throttle whatsoever. this will gently help seat the rings, and make it last much longer.
Good thing to see the supreme leader having a little fun

Is that a soft floor inflatable? My Zodiak did not perform well with a Hangkai 6.5 4 stroke.
@@geebroni4118 I don’t think the floor inflate. I think it just have aluminum floor only
Thanks for reply. Hoping this 12hp will give me the performance you got.

It’s been a while that I used it. I think the hot water come out on one of the side. I did feel the water and it’s warm.
Isn’t the price is great? I noticed the second time I went out it’s got more power

I like to save money. I used it about maybe 3 or 4 times a year. And I regularly maintain it pretty good. So I think it last me for awhile
