- There is lot's of confusion on how to use Android Auto in 2017 Mercedes-Benz cars, and very little information. So I decided to post a video with an explanation based on Mercedes-Benz GLS-Class!
Browse all my stuff in one place at: MBZMaster.com/ Авто/Мото
This is the very first video I've made on my channel and it was really bad quality, but still very informative! Watch my other much more improved videos on my channel: ruclips.net/user/MBZMaster
thanks a bunch!! Two seperate dealers didn't know how to connect it when we did a test drive.
I got a new phone and my Andriod Auto app no longer showed up on the car screen, but your video helped me fix this problem. Thank you for posting this!
Thank you so much for this helpful video! Your video was more helpful than the how-to video on MBs website!
By far the best step by step instructions. Thanks.
thank you again...this is the only video that is thorough and gets the job done...thank you, thank you...2nd time i''m using this video to pair
Apple Car play and Android Auto will be available as part of Smartphone Integration package on 2018 C-Class, after early Autumn production...
Of the 9 videos i viewed this is the only video that helped. I synched the phone after 3 months. 5*****
thank you so much! this video was a great help! these dealerships are lacking product knowledge, it's a joke!!!
Your videos are so helpful!! Thank you!!!
thank you for the video!!! very helpful
I want to ask you is GLS reliable SUV car . and can you please make vedio about reliability of GLS ?
Thanx
Great video thanks just linked my gla
You are the best my friend 🧡!!!!!!
I am so impressed
Do you know if it will work in 2016 cla amg?I installed the android auto it worked like two times but now it says to put it in different socket or cable?
U.S. built models don't have it. 2016 European built may have it, you need to try. Make sure to use the correct USB input with the little phone icon.
It seems to me that when Android Auto is launched, COMAND is locked up (except for access to Time and Vehicle Settings).
Can you show how you can get the sound equaliser to apply to the sound output of Spotify or any music app when Android Auto is active?
Android Auto doesn't control your Comand sound control. But you can control the sound settings by disconnecting Android Auto, then go to MEDIA and adjust sound while listening to ...for example CD, Bluetooth or USB. Then next time when you connect Android Auto - the sound will be already adjusted to the way you like..
MBZ Master tried that and didn't work. The sound of songs when played through Android auto just doesn't have the same quality as when I play directly using Bluetooth through MEDIA which uses the Harmon kardon equaliser in the car :(
Try to disconnect AA and hit MEDIA and adjust for example Treble to the max... and for example Bass to the lowest. Also try to move Fader all the way in the back.. and Balance all the way to the right. Just to test connect AA back and see if anything changed... If no changes...., then it means you have to control Audio settings through your phone. That varies based on what kind of phone you have and if you have the settings or need to download another app. Check this link: community.spotify.com/t5/Android/Android-Equalizer/td-p/878953 it addresses this problem.
Hello MBZ Master,
Thank you for your efforts in trying to assist. It seems to me that when Android Auto is on, it just bypasses the Harman Kardon equaliser. Installing VIPER FX as per the spotify forum suggests that we set the equaliser from the phone so that the signals coming from the phone to the head unit on the Mercedes would be equalised. So far I havent' been able to get Viper FX to work but even if it did, it defeats the purpose of me having paid for the optional premium harmon kardon sound system.
I have checked with my dealer and he says that the Harman Kardon equaliser on the AMG A45 late 2017 (which is what I got) just gets bypassed by Android Auto.
I hope Mercedes fixes this as it's dissappointing.
Again, thank you for your assistance thus far :)
Thank so much!! Very helpfull
Hello @MBZMaster
I have 2017 GLS 550. I saw your video to connect my Google Pixel phone for Android Auto in the vehicle. After trying on 3 different phones including Samsung, I'm unable activate to have Android Auto.
If anyone faced similar issues please share the steps to resolve this
2017 GLS introduced Android Auto in the middle of that model year. So, if your car was built in the first batch of 2017 model year - it wouldn't have it. But it should have Apple Carplay, so you can use your phone by adding the Android Box, which you can learn more here: mbzmaster.com/multimedia-video-box/
My 2015 isn't set up for any features such as Sirius radio nor Android Auto. I was told the Mercedes I purchased isn't setup for these options.
Android Auto wasn't available in 2015, but Sirius radio should be there
Thank you very much!!
Hi MZB Master. I noticed wind noises with my 2018 GLE 43 AMG Coupe coming from the sunroof when at 70+ mph. What may be the issue?
Probably, bad weather stripping. Fix or replace as needed.
This also works on 2017 Mercedes-Benz B, CLA, GLA, E, CLS, SLC,SL, GLE and G-Classes...
So it doesn’t work on C class 220d UK 2017 model. Thanks for sharing the video and it is very informative
@@Mush61E It was available starting with 2018 C-Class U.S models, I'm not sure about UK. And it was an optional equipment. The way to see if you have it - is just to follow the direction in this video, and see if there is "Android Auto" option appearing on the screen.
Even though he is doing this for the first time it seems. I found this video very helpful for my gle coupe
I had been trying to connect Android Auto via the Media section instead of the Phone section. Smh
Thanks for the informative video, is it possible to add the Android auto to 2016 GLS that came with only CarPlay from factory?
No, AA came out in 2017 models. I'm going to show an alternative in my next video, so stay tuned!
@@MBZMaster please tag me in the video or reply to this comment for that video thanks so much
2018 GLC-Class will be also compatible with Android Auto!
Do you know if the C Class will be compatible any time soon? I just brougth a 2018
Jorge Andres Gonzalez Yes 2018 C-Class will have Smartphone integration starting with August production. Watch my other video about it on my channel.
I got 2015 b class but i dont have android auto or apple carplay in the list
Although 2015 B-Class didn't have Android Auto neither Apple Car Play, Smartphone Integration package (which includes both Apple Car Play and Android Auto) is available for retrofit on 2015 B-Class and 2016 B 250e models. Just check with your local MB Dealer... 2016 B250e already had an option for Apple Car Play. 2017 B-Class has both options for Apple and Android available.
It will not work in my 2017 gls 450. It keeps saying no device detected. Is there any special cables you will recommend?
Make sure to plug into the correct USB input, as I showed in the video. Also, the newer phones have Android Auto app already installed, but on older phones you need to download the app.
Thank you so much
my w213 not have that function. when click to tel menu. no android auto option. how to get those features. fyi im using samsung s7. install android auto already. maybe u can share link for android auto u used in this vid.
On E-Class is a little different. You go through Multimedia system, then CONNECT, then Android Auto
@@MBZMaster i dont think my E Class have the Android Auto function. maybe need to ask Mercedes to activate the function.
Can this be retrofit onto a 2015 C300 Audio 20 system? (USA)
Not yet... But as soon as Smartphone integration package will be available on 2018 C-Class models, I think Mercedes will have this package available for retrofit all the way to 2015 model year.
If my cell is hook up to my Benz and im playing my music ,how can I see my video on my screen?
You don't want to play video -while driving! Too dangerous. However you can watch videos while in Park using DVD, SD Card or USB stick. Watch my 4th Part of the Video Manual tutorial series here: bit.ly/VM-4
I have a 2017 gls450. Apple carplay works but no option for Android Auto?
You have it. You just need to download Android Auto app on your phone and just follow the instructions in this video...
MBZ Master I did download the app. There is no option on the MBZ screen for android auto. Only Applecarplay.🤷♂️
+Mr. C I think the first batch of 2017 GLS's that came out. .. weren't equipped with Android Auto. MBZ started to load Android after a few months after the initial release of 2017 models. So maybe your car was a part of this small initial release. Check with your local MB dealership service department, if they can retrofit the newer unit...
MBZ Master Thank you. I think that might be the issue. I will have the dealer check and load the program. Thanks again!
I have the same problem. My 2017 GLS do not have Android Auto. I have an appointment with service dept nearest dealer to report this issue. What is the factory code or feature number to identify so that they can reinstall it to newer version.
Hi .tks for yr video. But why my 2016 benz 350. Dont have android auto . Only have apple car play. Tks.
The first Android Auto rolled out on some 2017 Mercedes-Benz models, while Apple Car Play was released a year before for 2016 models.
@@MBZMaster ,tks for reply. That mean my 2016benz cant install android auto?
Not, unless you replace the whole unit, or install the aftermarket system
My GEL 250 D is giving error that the device is not compatible....It worked 1 month back...
Are you saying your Android Auto worked before, but now stopped working? What year is your GLE?
My 2017 GLS 450 has no Android auto but does have carplay showing. The dealer says it can't do both. Your video says otherwise. Which is correct?
The car in the video is 2017 GLS450, and it has both. However, the very first release of that model year had only Apple CarPlay. AA was added in the middle of that model year. I'm about to make a video on the solution, so stay tuned.
Thank you!!!! I will donate for that information. Mercedes should sponsor you!
@@brianschaal147 I plan to release a new video tomorrow. But the next video after that will be in about a week - about adding functions to cars, specially equipped only with Apple Carplay. So stay tuned!
I will be tuned! Thank you! Just FYI, i am providing my VIN to summarize options and build date to aid, if needed, but sounds like you already understand the unpublished nuance. 2017 GLS450 VIN 4JGDF6EE3HA778981
Your car was the part of the first 2017 batch of cars that didn't have Android Auto, only Carplay. But your car is pretty loaded! It comes with very cool "designo Porcelain/Black Leather" package. But no Android Auto. Meanwhile... watch my other video tutorials about your car - like these 3: ruclips.net/p/PLQl3kZoreJoVgUpnLZ5xZgP08cE8dByIo
I'm dizzy! The camera does some weird movements... !!
Can I use Android car play in 2015 c200?
C-Class started to offer an optional Android Auto on 2018 models, so you would need to find an aftermarket interface for your model.
does this work on the 2017 GLC?
GLC-Class isn't compatible with Android Auto yet... but you can check with your local MB service department if there is a software update/upgrade. Even if it's not available yet, I understand it will be.
MBZ Master it is right now.
Can your phone be integrated with the car for navigation and traffic
What year and model of your MB?
glc 300 2017@@MBZMaster
On that model, the phone integration wasn't available until 2018. So, you can't integrate unless you install some aftermarket system.
Are there any recommended aftermarket devices?
Can you add android auto to 2015 Eclass?
No, the first E-Class equipped with Android Auto came out in 2017 model year, when the new body was changed.
Does it work on a 2013 ml 350?
Android Auto started to be available on some 2017 MB models.
The app is not showing up when i search it on google play
Search for "Android Auto" by Google
I just bought GLE 2016 model but I don't see Android Auto option. Can you confirm GLE 2016 supports Android Auto or not? If not, then can we upgrade software to make it work? Thanks
2016 GLE-Class doesn't support Android Auto, only 2017 GLE does. However 2016 GLE supports Apple Car Play...
@@MBZMaster
Hello,
I recently purchased a 2006 Mercedes Benz 230. Can you please post information, if possible for Bluetooth? And Engine light is on..
Hi, great video! Do you know if this is available for a 2017 GLC?
No, the 1st GLC equipped with an optional Android Auto was 2018 model year.
Quick question does this work 4 the 2016 model
Android Auto started in some 2017 models in U.S market, and some 2016 European market. Just try and see if it works.
@@MBZMaster what do you recommend please I’m from the uk I have a 2016 GLS 350d Apple car play shows but no android auto any suggestions
It means you don't have it. Most AA rolled out in 2017 models. If you have Apple Carplay, you may get a Multimedia Box - to add an Android OS to your car, as I showed in this video: ruclips.net/video/y4DwI1gAUJM/видео.html
@@MBZMaster thank you so much
Hi , i just bought CLA250 2018 Model and i don't see android auto option .
As I said in the video, Android Auto is not standard equipment. It's very inexpensive option: about $300 or so... I think it can be retrofitted, ask your dealer.
MBZ Master i see some plug a OBD2 to active this option , is that correct ?
First, take a look at the sticker of the car, where it lists options, and see if there is a Smartphone Integration package in your car. If yes, make sure to plug in the right USB plug, because there are 2, but works only with one. Then download Android Auto app to your phone... and just follow what I shown in the video..
In my 2016 CLA I activated AndroidAuto and CarPlay through an OBD2 module. I didnt buy the Smartphone Integration Package, I have the basic Audio 20. Check my channel and see for yourself.

OMG!!! Thanks a bunch!
Hi you the best
I have b200 2017
And android One plus 6t
And I dident have android auto in. My phone and in my car
Some B-Classes used to have Mirror-Link instead of Android Auto.
@@MBZMaster how i know that?
i dont see that in my screen :(
You promised to make a video showing how to use WAZE without internet! Have you ever?
Enter destination using your phone app (while on Wi-Fi or cellular data enabled), then click "Go Now". Once the navigation starts, either tap on the magnifying glass in the lower-left corner, or swipe in from the left edge of the screen to fetch the Waze's dashboard. Click Settings wheel-button, then "Display & Map" under Advanced Settings. Scroll down and tap on "Data Transfer". Then check-mark "Download traffic info". I'm still planning to make a video around July with a full explanation, but you can test it and see how it performs.
Thank you; i will try it and let you know. Thank you again.
How do I keep it connected? I followed this and got connected but when I get in the car I'm not connected. Also, when I was connected it would beep when a text message came in but I didn't know how to make Android auto read it
Make sure to select "Start Automatically" in Settings. Also, make sure to connect to the correct USB input. It doesn't work on all USB's. When you get text messages, use your voice to read and reply. Press the voice control button for about 5 sec. Watch my newer Android Auto tutorial, which is on different car, but works the same on any car here: ruclips.net/video/pePH1DonbEg/видео.html
What if you have usb C
You can buy activation tool at: mbenzcoder.com
Russian??
Da
thanks for the instructions, very helpful. to be honest, Mercedes is one of the stupidest software design car companies. also its air suspension is horrible, my GLS450 already went to dealerships three times for air suspension. It might go again for the fourth time. Horrible German engineering.
русский?)
Artem Grankin Да, but I moved 25 years ago. ...
MBZ Master все равно русских видно сразу 👌
Funny :) Writing mouse/pad is a bad engineering design. Pathetic infotainment and control starting at 70k
