    Agreed. Xc90 is the best family suv considering the performance/comfort to price ratio.
    Followed closely by the CX-9.

    Its an excellent choice bobby.
    I was also contemplating between a Q7, Xc90 and also a CX9. And I get safely say the Volvo does top them all.
    Not to say the others are crap but Volvo is just one step above others here. In terms of features, comfort, and also value.
    My thoughts are exactly like yours I have two kids and both of them are young. So when you have a sedan after you put a car seat you are pretty much sardined. Not to forget the loads of things you need to carry.
    It’s a lovely car. Great review btw.

      As an owner of both, CX-9 is more spacious, comfortable when comes to seat, and of course, more reliable. As for XC90, the drivability is way better, not to mention the technology it has on the car, the performance and fuel consumption is way better.

    Can the t8 be operated normally ( dont effect the cars systems) without the phev system, say after the batteries dies off in a few years of usage. The price of the new batteries doesn't make sense with the diminished value in 6 years time or more. Love the gizmos in t8 but not the eventual money guzzler for the phev system as i plan to keep this suv for a LONG time. Tq bobby and guys in advance.

    Bobby, the part you mentioned take the longest route bcos interest rate is now 2.5% may not be 100% true, there’s a catch to how interest rate for car hire purchase is computed and charged versus a housing loan or ur FD. When a car HP interest rate is 2.5% then the actual effective interest rate is 4.73% so if say u got RM300k in your bank giving you 3.5% interest n u choose to go for HP for ur car at 2.5% then yearly you are losing 1.23% to the bank.

    • @BobbyAngmalaysia
      @BobbyAngmalaysia  6 лет назад +2

      True. But we are not using our savings to buy a car. Just like our phone bills and electricity bills and telco bills, we use our monthly income to buy a car. It's a monthly expenditure set aside. At least that's how i see it. If we can set aside public transport bills, we can also set aside private transport bills as deductibles from our monthly income. What's the best part is that amongst our monthly expenditures, the one we pay for our cars have a depreciation ratio that lets us collect back some money when we sell it off. Haha!

    The loan is the right way to go, until intereset rate go up.
    I loaned 100% for my Tesla model X. Applying the "Now-worth" math to the loan, the car will actually cost me 10k$ LESS on a 10 year loan. On paper, I will pay 100k$ + interest. But money is worth more today than it is tomorrow. So 100k$ today is the same as 80k$ (todays worth) in 10 years. This is assuming interest rates stay the same which I doubt, so I have cash ready incase the it goes against me and its cheaper to cash out the loan

    The advice on taking a loan rather than paying for it out of pocket makes sense when you're not going to apply for a mortgage any time soon. When you DO want to buy that new house, better not take that loan because it will seriously cripple the amount you can get for that dream house you always wanted. I guess that is the only reason I don't do it anymore. Apart from that, I completely agree with you. Especially with interest rates of 2.5% and yearly inflation matching that more or less.

    Hi Bobby, by looking your review on xc90 this car strongly I will consider for family car. Sorry for asking, through your experience driving this car do you have problem with braking system?...bcos i saw some review of xc90 t8 mentioned sometimes the brake system is become like 'artificial' whereby the system control it instead of driver... Do you experience that during your driving?

    • @BobbyAngmalaysia
      @BobbyAngmalaysia  5 лет назад

      PHEVs will engage the regenerating braking in day to day driving, the calipers only activate towards the last part of stopping the vehicle. So the sensation is a bit weird when you first drive a PHEV. But it only takes a week to get use to. As for my car, after the first service, they updated the software and now the brakes feel more natural. I super recommend this car considering it enjoys hybrid incentive hence you are literally buying it at half the price.

    Do you prefer the ‘12 Range Rover sport TDV6 or ‘13 Merc ML350? Both are nice and big enough for my family but i’m worried about reliability issues with the RR. But obviously if i had the money i’ll get an XC90 or CX9...

      Arent they similarly priced? All 4? I never liked the ML as it is clumsy. RR yupe, reliability issues.

    Hi bobby thanks for the review..loved the xc90. My concern is on the hybrid battery life. How long is the battery warranty and how much will the battery performance depleted over time? I am looking at our smart phones that have a good battery life for the first 2 years before it just run out of juice half the time when new...will this cx90 batt drain twice as quickly after 5 years? Reason being, likw you mentioned, to take up 9 yrs loan on cars...that is ok if you plan to keep the car forever like your s4..but if you plan to change car every 5 yrs then you will need to top up money just to get rid of it

      Xc40 polestar upgrade should be good. For my xc90 i wont cos the stock engine already making 320hp ... dont have to :)

      @@BobbyAngmalaysia but it added extra 40nm of torque, xc40 added 50nm, it very attractive XD

      Yes, for the XC40 is a worthy upgrade. For the XC90 not so because that engine already in a high state of tune, and the crazy torque that gives the crazy pull comes from the electric motor anyway

    Lovely review Bobby. I'm buying the new S60 T5 inscription when it comes to my country. However, I'd like to know if I can get optional retractable window sunshades in my car. Can I get that feature on the S60 or is it only on the more premium Volvos? Thanks.

What is the common problem or what kind of problem an old XC90 will surface after say...3months driving? Thank you.
