It's not even the only time it's happened with Akuma. The theme for Akuma/Rugal's stage in Capcom vs SNK 2 (the rainy one, not the burning version used for Shin Akuma/God Rugal) shares samples with the sewer theme from DMC1.
It feels like an immense unstoppable force of crushing power just marching and marching and marching toward you. This, 'The Flame', and 'Killing Moon' are my favourite Gouki / Akuma themes. 'The Flame' is like your heart beating up in your throat out of fear, while 'Killing Moon' is just the sheer scrambling panic one feels in battle against him.
@ScarceBlox He never got smoked by Kairi. They only had a heated battle. Garuda was the one that gave him a run for his money since he was the embodiment of the Satsui no Hado. Akuma knew there was no point in fighting him and backed out.
This has to be my favorite Akuma theme because it sounds badass and it perfectly fits Akuma, and plus this theme just screams, “Get ready to rage and break your controller, legend.”
I’d say this game’s soundtrack is the PEAK of video game music. Every track in this game is so damn powerful like they didn’t hold back. It perfectly embodies what this game is- a transition from 2D to 3D Fighting game. I miss this style of 3D battle stages too. Why can’t they ever do it again? I’ve never seen any current fighting game with this style. Even the latest Arika fighting game (I think it’s called Fighting Layer EX) and SF6 function like 2D style battle stages. Makes me think it’s the reason their camera movements are held back. SF EX had such amazing camera movements especially in the replays.
Never played the EX series and I feel like I missed out on a GOD tier soundtrack here. I'd have to put this above the Alpha series maybe a tie with 3rd strike, its that good.

Yeah, this was done by Takayuki Aihara, who done some arrangements for Tekken 1, such as the China theme. It also sounds a bit like some of his Sampling Masters works from that era.
This theme is nice, but I have a preference for his Capcom VS SNK 2 (SHIN Akuma) version. The kind of theme that clearly says " *prepare to get wrecked* ".

the artwork and music of this game is just amazing , new games seems to be souless i love sf4 but doesnt have this groove , i think that kof xiii still has it in terms of artwork and atmosphere , but the sf4 gameplay kick ass

The composers for the EX series were from Namco's (Tekken, Ridge Racer) sound team, not too far off!
